Judiciary Committee approves contempt resolutions.

In a 12-7 vote this morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved contempt resolutions against Karl Rove and White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten for their refusal to comply with the U.S. attorney investigation. Bush, citing executive privilege, has “refused to allow Rove and Bolten to testify or turn over documents to the panel.” Republican Sens. Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) both supported the resolutions.

Now they have to get someone to go find them and haul them in. Good luck with that, Gentlemen. But at least you finally did the right thing.

  7. leftcoast says:

“The House Judiciary Committee has also approved contempt resolutions against Bolten and former White House Counsel Harriet Miers, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has not set a date for a floor vote yet”

    Now, that’s typical of Pelosi.

  8. And Yet... says:

Specter in on the ground floor on this so he can undermine it later.

    Leahy will……watch him do it.

    AND be really annoyed.

Another OIF veteran is making a run for congress! If he wins, he will be the second OIF veteran in congress (Rep. Patrick Murphy was the first) and he will be the first OIF vet in the Senate!

Wow — the wheels grind slowly, don’t they?

Still, it’s a step in the right direction. Now, let’s just hope that Rove and Bolten don’t die of old age before these contempt resolutions get jumped through all the rest of the flaming hoops.

Wonder how Kucinich’s impeachment resolution is doing in Conyers’ committee?

Means nothing unless they get these criminals arrested. It’s something to to wave in front of the base so come next Nov these jokers can claim they tried to go after the lawbreakers.

    Booyah!

Guess the numerous paper cuts from all those letters dint work after all.

  15. Bob says:

Is there a ‘Contempt of the Constitution’?

Oh, wait, I guess that’s called ‘Impeachment’, but for some reason (unknown), this administration is immune.

I see the paid misinformational/concern/propoganda trolls got here before the insightful commentators did.

    WHO CARES IF THERE’S A WRITER’S STRIKE!

    LOL. Yeah… I’m a “paid misinformational concern propAganda troll”…

Exactly what concerns would I be representing with the comment I posted above? It seems to have been recommended quite a few times so I am curious what you take issue with?

And btw, this seems to be your only post here today… Hmmm.

  18. RUCerious says:

They need to ratchet this up and use INHERENT CONTEMPT to jail these effing criminals…

  19. RUCerious says:

“The Justice Department has stated that it will not allow the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeffrey Taylor, to pursue this case in court. Taylor would normally represent Congress in any legal battle with the White House.”

No relief exept for INHERENT CONTEMPT!

You know, after I read justasking’s comment, I went back and re-read all of the previous comments to see what trolls he/she was talking about, and I still have no idea to what comments he/she was objecting to. So what if some of the comments were snarky or sarcastic, none of them were troll propaganda.
