Savage: 90% of Nobel board is ‘into child pornography.’»

On his radio show yesterday, right-wing talker Michael Savage attacked former Vice President Al Gore’s recent Nobel Peace Prize, saying that it was awarded to him by “the socialist perverts in Norway.” “90 percent of the people on the Nobel Committee are into child pornography and molestation,” proclaimed Savage. And Charles James Napier? So are you.

Let me tell you, I do hope that it makes you very sick, very, very sick, like the flu or worse. Your mind is already sick.

It is time to start taking these people down. There should be a serious price to pay for these exaggerations. (The typical response is that it is not serious, just a way to highlight that they are liberal.) Treat them the way that abortion doctors have been treated. Indeed, was it alright to list their addresses and note the ones that died? How about doing that with these guys?

  10. Bob Says:

Yeah. Who cares about the freedom of speech when Al Gore and socialists are insulted…

    Comment by Frank M — December 13, 2007 @ 4:52 pm

Freedom of speech doesn’t cover lies, idiot. We have laws about slander and libel — you’re not allowed to simply make things up about other people, especially nasty vicious comments about their personal lives.

  16. tombaker Says:

Frank - He’s very free to say that as far as I’m concerned - the more and the louder the better. In fact, I’m going to buy something advertised on his show, to encourage him to say it more.

I also think you should say what he says, to everyone you know, as many times as you can.

I’m convinced that Savage has got a bet going on with somebody. How else to explain that everything he says is crazier than the last?

Either that, or he wants the coverage Imus got for his slurs about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. He just figures that if he says something outrageous enough, then SOMEBODY will pay attention. Unfortunately, he’s become so much of a clown that nobody will.

    Pathetic, really.

  24. bluestatedon Says:

Now that Savage has proven he’s ready for the big leagues, I expect that CNN or Fox will move him into a show competing directly with Glenn Beck, and together with Rush, Gibson, Hume, Kristol, Krauthammer, Cavuto, and O’Reilly they can complain loudly about how liberal the mass media is.

  25. overlap Says:

  26. hellinabucket Says:

Frank M. free speech shouldn’t mean free from rational thought speech. Savage is just a fearmonger and a liar. He ignorantly insults a board that has been created to promote peace. All for what? Using Savage’s same twisted view on the world one could say that 95% of all republicans fantasize about sex with their fathers and the other 5% their mothers or pets. Now we both know those numbers aren’t actually that high but just saying it now has to be defended against.

Tombaker has it right: Frank wants to own this.

  32. missmolly Says:

I had to laugh when I read that Savage justified his insane accusation with “according to scientific studies.”

That alone could be a story, if the members of the Nobel committee submitted to a scientific study to determine if they were pedophiles. I wonder who would fund such a study? Something this bizarre wouldn’t even be valid for a doctoral dissertation.

  33. The Dogfather Says:

It’s pretty clear that Savage only “knows” this because he hangs out in the same online chat rooms as those alleged child pornophiles.

And after all, everyone knows that 90% of reich wingnuts like Savage (and a few select trolls here) are into baby eating and Hitler worshipping.

  34. tombaker Says:

We can throw around all the esoteric arguments we want. All someone like Frank reall understands or pays heed are things to the effect of:

    “takes one to know one”

That would get his goat, but none of the other stuff would penetrate the iron box he keeps his mind in.

And that’s what makes Righties wrong. Always.

  35. ClintonWasImpeachedAndDisbarred Says:

Savage is a loud mouth, big whoop.Media matters gets their panties in a bunch of everything, and no one cares.

They don’t have a single article about kidlover Bernie Ward except for an article where Savage criticizes him. Apparently jesting about the liberal wimps at Nobel being child pornographers is somehow worse than actually *being* a child pornographer. Typical leftwing reasoning, makes no sense of course.

They just lash at anyone disagrees with their point of view, and they are paid to do this.
They are probably getting promotions and pay raise when they do this, just like Glenn Peck and others.

They are paid probably on pay/Insult ratio contract.

Your ignorance is shining through, once again. Media Matters for America has as its mission to combat conservative misinformation in the media. You guys have all of right-wing talk radio out there spreading lies and misinformation about liberals and progressives. It’s because of people like Weiner (and Hannity and Limbaugh) that people still believe lies like “Saddam still had WMD in 2002″, “Saddam was working with al Qaeda” (not supporting terrorists ingerenal, but al Qaeda specifically) and “Iraq was involved with 9/11″. Conservative talk radio has done a tremendous disservice to this great country of ours. But to them, it’s no big deal, because they were able to make money off it.

So please stop bringing up the idiotic straw man arguments for which you are rapidly becoming famous.

Your reverence for the fool in the WH is YOUR problem, not ours. Very shortly, he will be gone and you will have nobody to worship - except folks like Savage.

Frank, frank, frank…When will you ever learn. You have strapped your wagon to a loser - pure and simple. In those lonely and dark places of your mind, you already know this though don’t you? That is why you are getting rather vile in your posts. You used to have a small amount of sanity which we could engage - but no more. It’s all self inflicted hate and loathing. Can Savage Weiner, or you, provide a link to those “latest scientific studies” that say that 90% of the Nobel Prize Board are child pornographers?

Can you provide a link that would prove to anyone that YOU’RE not a child pornographer, part-time or otherwise? I understand that you might be frustrated that consumers consistently reject left wing radio talk shows. Perhaps if the left developed a sense of humor instead of spewing seathing hatred about Bush, then people *might* listen. Meanwhile, in the free market, liberalism continues to loose. Folks like the funders of Mediamatters, AirAmerica, etc have to pay to force their dark message out, where as the right wing radio is a thriving profit center.

My point, however, was that the only article on media maters about kidlover Bernia Ward was an article where Savage criticized him. That’s just funny to me, since it seems that mocking leftists is more serious to them than actually being a child pornographer. This guy either has a, sick, twisted sense of humor or he’s a psycho. Or both.

I find it incredible he hasn’t said enough to get himself booted on decency grounds. I would like to see a list of stations which have dropped him.

She’s only really visible when she’s flogging one of her books. Plus, she spilled something nasty on her little black dress and has to wait until the dry cleaner can get to it.

And, for good measure, here’s Michael Weiner Savage’s little postcard to Allen Ginsberg:

Watched a tourist from New Zealand taking pictures of Fijian people in the marketplace thought of inserting my cameras lens in your A hole to photograph the walls of your rectum.
I really do apologize But the thought did occur.

You have to also agree with me that its ironic that kiddlover Bernie Ward, a liberal media figure, is also mentioned on media matters, but only in an article attacking Savage for criticizing Ward. Its just funny!

    Comment by ClintonWasImpeachedAndDisbarred — December 13, 2007 @ 6:05 pm

Why is that funny? What has Bernie Ward done to draw the attention of mediamatters?

Mediamatters is NOT a news site. It is a media watchdog. it monitors and exposes conservative misinformation, and does it quite well. It focuses pretty closely on what people in the media SAY. It doesn’t attack Bill O’Reilly, for instance, for his proclivity to sexually harrass co-workers. It only deals with the content of his radio and TV show.

So, now that you understand what mediamatters does, maybe you can explain again, what has Bernie Ward done to draw the attention of mediamatters?

I mean, aside from offering you a convenient distraction from the embarrassment of having Michael Savage speak for your side.

While I agree Rush is formost an entertainer, comparing right wing radio commentators with folks like Chris Rock is kind of a stretch. But, you may have a point. Perhaps it is just that the outspoken leftwing celebrities, like Rosie Odonnel for example, tend to be outrageously uninformed.

Did you pass Reading Comprehension, are are you just deliberately stupid? As Wayne told you, and as MediaMatters’ website clearly states, MM’s purpose is to expose the right-wing’s lies. Therefore, NO ONE would agree with you that it’s ironic, or funny, that MM has never mentioned Bernie Ward in any other context than the article about Weiner. Can you understand that?

Regardless, both Wayne and I have had enough of you. I know that you probably never intended to respond to the other questions I posed to you earlier, so don’t waste your tiny little mind trying.

You’re the one missing the point. Who the hell ever gave Chris Rock any credence? Or Rosie? Just because these people mouth off, and the media gives them a forum to do so doesn’t mean anyone on the Left pays any attention at all. It’s mouth-breathing conservatives that confuse “entertainers” like Rush with sources of information.

And if you’re looking for “outrageously uninformed” you can stay closer to home: Hannity, O’Reilly, Beck, Savage - the list is pretty much endless.

Sure, GOP has thompson runing. I am no republican, and I don’t support him. But, at least he’s informed. Although some celebrities on the left sound so dumb and naive when they speak about politics, although perhaps you don’t recognize that about them. I am specifically talking about folks like susan sarandon, tim robbins, sean penn, harry belefonte, etc. Those people are not doing your side any favors. I have to admit, neither is Culter doing our side any favors, she’s too mean for my taste. However, again the difference is that she is quite informed on politics and she’s famous for being political commentator, not just commenting on political issues because she’s famous.

    ******************************************

Sounds to me like someone has a case of sour grapes. “Gore was awarded the Nobel Prize and I don’t like it — so that must mean that the Nobel Committee must be collectively smeared and the entire process condemned as punishment because they did something I don’t like.” Ye gods…would Savage like some cheese to go with his whine?

Seriously, though…Savage had better make certain that he has a good lawyer, because it seems to me that what he said could potentially be considered grounds for a slander suit unless he can provide something to back up these claims (which I seriously doubt he can). If he has nothing upon which to base these claims, then how can it really be doubted that he said these things purely out of the desire to damage the reputation of the Nobel Committee?

    Errr, actually it does…

    http://www.projectcensored.org/publications/2005/11.html

In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.

Back in December of 1996, Jane Akre and her husband, Steve Wilson, were hired by FOX as a part of the Fox “Investigators” team at WTVT in Tampa Bay, Florida. In 1997 the team began work on a story about bovine growth hormone (BGH), a controversial substance manufactured by Monsanto Corporation. The couple produced a four-part series revealing that there were many health risks related to BGH and that Florida supermarket chains did little to avoid selling milk from cows treated with the hormone, despite assuring customers otherwise.

According to Akre and Wilson, the station was initially very excited about the series. But within a week, Fox executives and their attorneys wanted the reporters to use statements from Monsanto representatives that the reporters knew were false and to make other revisions to the story that were in direct conflict with the facts. Fox editors then tried to force Akre and Wilson to continue to produce the distorted story. When they refused and threatened to report Fox’s actions to the FCC, they were both fired.(Project Censored #12 1997)

Akre and Wilson sued the Fox station and on August 18, 2000, a Florida jury unanimously decided that Akre was wrongfully fired by Fox Television when she refused to broadcast (in the jury’s words) “a false, distorted or slanted story” about the widespread use of BGH in dairy cows. They further maintained that she deserved protection under Florida’s whistle blower law. Akre was awarded a $425,000 settlement. Inexplicably, however, the court decided that Steve Wilson, her partner in the case, was ruled not wronged by the same actions taken by FOX.

FOX appealed the case, and on February 14, 2003 the Florida Second District Court of Appeals unanimously overturned the settlement awarded to Akre. The Court held that Akre’s threat to report the station’s actions to the FCC did not deserve protection under Florida’s whistle blower statute, because Florida’s whistle blower law states that an employer must violate an adopted “law, rule, or regulation.” In a stunningly narrow interpretation of FCC rules, the Florida Appeals court claimed that the FCC policy against falsification of the news does not rise to the level of a “law, rule, or regulation,” it was simply a “policy.” Therefore, it is up to the station whether or not it wants to report honestly.

During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre’s claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so. After the appeal verdict WTVT general manager Bob Linger commented, “It’s vindication for WTVT, and we’re very pleased… It’s the case we’ve been making for two years. She never had a legal claim.”
