Controversial DoJ voting section chief resigns.

In an e-mail this morning to employees of voting section in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, controversial section chief John Tanner “resigned from his position effective immediately.” Tanner will be taking a job with the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices. Tanner, who was lambasted by Congress in October, was under investigation by the Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility due to his travel habits. More on Tanner’s record of politicizing the voting section here.

    Another Friday, another resignation…

  2. tombaker says:

Easier to “hide out” in the Immigration wing, where he’ll be able to ensure a steady flow of cheap labor, all while advertising a “get tough” policy on immigration the R’s can run on, to pander to the “minuteman” vote.

  3. SP Biloxi says:

Another one hits the streets. Don’t let the door hit you on the butt on your way out, Tanner.

“Tanner will be taking a job with the Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices. ” LOL! Man, that’s a joke. He talkes a job regarding unfair employment practices when he made that racist and bogus comments about minority voters. Go figure.

  4. Leftside Annie says:

    So, he got a promotion?

    I’m soooooooooooooooooo very surprised.

  5. Wayne says:

Bush is shuffling his deck of crooks again, rewarding corruption and incompetence with promotions.

  6. MapleStreet says:

Sorry, but I’m supposed to feel better now that he’s politicizing the immigrat labor??????

Not to mention that all immigrants (both legal and illegal) are in a vulnerable position in enforcing any sort of rights that they may have. You complain, you’re fired.

  7. Menehune says:

I think there is probably a wholesale shifting of the Bushies into positions where the won’t be so easily rooted out via appointments, but will be in positions that where they can continue to inhibit the work of government through delays and deliberate inattention/inaction.

  8. overlap says:

You know… so in the end he fails upward; he gets a promotion.

I wonder if by 2009, the Democratic President’s administration will be able to do anything THEY want and just promote the people who cause the F@CK-ups.

There certainly is a history of Repo presidents doing just that. So why not?

  9. patooty says:

Tanner’s a$$ will be tanned – that’s why he’s heaving himself out the door.

We have a big list of those scumbags…. they’ll get fired on inauguration day… or transfered to the moroccan embassy or something like that. Haven’t you learned how to play dirty by watching these thugs for the last 7 years?

  11. patooty says:

We will need paper ballots counted under armed guard and multiple witnesses this next election. Anything short of this will result in another hacked election.

  12. patooty says:

All Bushie scumbags are fleeing the sinking ship.

Someone under investigation? Give ‘em another job…

  14. patooty says:

This MASS EXODUS from Chimp’s House of Horrors is pretty telling. They all know that their butts will be fried when the impeachment hearings bring all of their ugly corruption out into the open. They’ll need an identity change by then.

this is the guy that said black people don’t live as long as white people…

So many Bushies are resigning, they don’t even have to wait until 4PM on Friday — they can do it in the morning now.

  17. patooty says:

Tanner’s mistake will be remaining as a target under the greedy allure of a promotion. It is nothing of the sort. He’ll still be able to be brought under oath to testify about how he and Kenneth Blackwell, along with Diebold, ran the Ohio votes through an RNC base in a hotel in Tennessee. He’s cooked, along with Kenneth Blackwell.

  18. patooty says:

It was during this time that these election hijackers went to work. The lines ostensibly went down (hah!) and when they came back up, Bush was the winner….although he was losing when the lines went black. Hmmm…..let’s get to the bottom of this one.

Also, just saw on http://www.opednews.com where 7 top scientists and military seniors are asking for a reopening of the 911 commission report because the “official story” simply cannot be supported any longer. Too many false statements/too many lies. Who sat on that illustrious (and bogus) committee originally? And if you tell me Arlan Specter, I’ll spit.

Arlan Specter was one of the top conspirators in the official JFK story (Warren Commission) along with Orin Hatch I believe. Both liars! Both scumbags.

This is not part of an exodus, though.
Above it says he is moving to a job at the “Office of Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices.”

This is Bushco reshuffling the deck.

  20. patooty says:

All of Bush’s “intricate schemes” are now coming back to roost. This should mire him down in daily scandals until he leaves office normally, is impeached, or steps down.

  21. patooty says:

Wayne: Yes, Tanner is moving laterally or perhaps slightly upward. He’s taken by the egoic allure of it all but doesn’t recognize that he will still be a target for things he’s done during his time in his previous position. He’s making himself an even larger target now. There’s a huge bullseye on his back.

  22. patooty says:

Reshuffling the deck to make certain that they stick around. We can judge the level of complicity by the ones whom Bush uses ego machinations upon to retain. He has to retain the “lynchpins” at all cost these days.

  23. patooty says:

I’m wondering about his “token women” who are front and center myself – Condi Rice and Perino.

  24. patooty says:

Once impeachment hearings are begun and the impeachable offenses highlighted, then the respective $hit will hit the fan for Bushies. We can observe from the reshuffling and the outright exiting where the perceived problems exist.
