Coulter’s latest book flops.

Coulter’s latest book flops.

Ann Coulter’s latest book, If Democrats Had Any Brains They’d Be Republicans, “hasn’t caught fire with book buyers,” according to data from Nielsen BookScan. “The title spent just four weeks on The New York Times’ best-seller list–compared with 12 for her previous book–and has sold 97,000 copies in the last 10 weeks. … Coulter’s last effort, Godless, sold 233,000 copies over the same time span, according to BookScan.”

Digg It!

Probably too many words in the title. Coulter’s audience gets headaches when they have to read that much at once.

It’s still 97,000 too many books sold.

That’s what happens when your employer buys all the books. They see it as a way to increase the audience. Everybody knows Fox viewers can’t read beyond the third grade level. They like books with BIG pictures.

Yes, but the NUMBER 1 hardcover non-fiction book is “I am America (and so can you)” by STEPHEN COLBERT, which is a book dedicated to making fun of idiots like you.

One could reasonably argue that, if neither Beck nor Levin identify themselves as a die-hard Republican (but rather, like O’Reilly, a supposed “realist” who just calls ‘em like they sees ‘em), it wouldn’t be as embarrassing to pick up their books right now. But a book by Coulter titled If Democrats Had Any Brains They’d Be Republicans, at a time when the Republican party is run by people who are either absolute morons or absolutely evil (or a little from Column A and a little from Column B), would only make the person buying the book look like an idiot. It’s like buying Milli Vanilli’s album AFTER their scam had been uncovered. It’s like still believing Clifford Irving wrote the definitive Howard Hughes biography. It’s like still believing professional wrestling is on the up and up. Even the ones who WANT to believe just can’t bring themselves to do it.

It might be more honest to suggest that even Righties get tired of reading the same old shtick over and over again, but Jason is probably in a better position to make the call. After all, he’s probably been working his way through her last book himself.

The auction for Karl Rove’s memoir drags on a month after the Republican strategist made the rounds of publishers with Washington power lawyer Robert Barnett at his side.

“It’s very, very slow,” says an executive at one of the few houses left in the bidding. Early reports had predicted a $3 million sale, but some insiders are wondering if Mr. Barnett has had trouble getting to that number. He declined to comment.

Mr. Rove isn’t the only conservative meeting a backlash. The latest tome by right-wing scribe Ann Coulter, If Democrats Had Any Brains They’d Be Republicans, hasn’t caught fire with book buyers.

    eh?

  101. bilbobaggins says:

The RNC is running a little short on cash these days and doesn’t have any to spare to buy pallets of Mann Coulter’s books to put her on the best selling list. Comment by erock

Actually, this is exactly what happens. I worked for a book publisher for a while and talked to a guy who worked at a company that destroyed books to make sure that they didn’t get back into the marketplace. He told me that by far the most books they took in for destruction were books by conservative writers like Coulter and O’Reilly.

The way it works is, the distributors sell pallets of books to book stores. The “best seller” attribute is gained by how many books the book stores buy. Then when they don’t sell, the book stores return the books for credit, thereby making the book go lower on the best seller list. But, organizations like the RNC and other conservative outfits buy pallets and pallets of the books and don’t return them, thereby artificially inflating the sales figures for the books. They first try to sell the books, then when they can’t sell them they try to give them away as freebies and when that doesn’t work, they have them destroyed.

  103. loretta says:

mAnn Coulter sold so many books last time ’round because they were sold at 5 buck apiece on Amazon…..I’m sure it’s the same case with Beck’s.

    ********************************************

Now that’s good news! Wonderful…couldn’t be happier! And if that sounds like schadenfreude — you’re damn right it is! Frankly, I think that Coulter more than deserves to have a little schadenfreude thrown her way. After all, this is the same woman (and I use that term loosely, since she doesn’t strike me as having any sort of nurturing feminine energy about her at all) who claims to be a Christian yet who also — if her books are anything to go on — secretly fantasizes about beating her political opponent’s skulls in with a baseball bat and committing genocide against Muslims. Does that sound even remotely like anything Jesus would do? Not according to the Bible I’ve read, it doesn’t. If that’s what Christianity really means, I for one want no part of it. And no…for the record, I don’t believe she’s ever been “just joking”. Do you see me laughing? No, you don’t — that’s because some of these things are not something that should ever be suggested even in jest.

Yes. It’s “entertainment,” and should be treated as such by … whoever finds it entertaining.

#65, yea that’s it Wayne…give the righties exactly what they want..feed into the MSM’s lies about Hillary Clinton…

So you wouldn’t defend someone with a straight-on Liberal voting record, and you’d be submissive to someone insulting Hillary?

    Whatevs.

That’s what happens when your employer buys all the books. They see it as a way to increase the audience. Everybody knows Fox viewers can’t read beyond the third grade level. They like books with BIG pictures.

Glenn Beck is on CNN, not Fox. Mark Levin is on radio, but doesn’t have a television program that I know of.

True, but Beck does have a radio show, a one man comedy show (from conservative point of view) and as far as that goes, CNN is as bad as Fox these days…what’s the difference? All the viewers (America in general) are letting the shrub get away with murder…they DO like books with pretty pictures.

Look TP, Coulter is scum, but 4 weeks atop the NYT’s bestseller list is by no definition “a flop.” This story is lame and not worth the megabytes of space it’s taking up.
