Time drops Kristol, Krauthammer.

By Amanda Terkel on Dec 19th, 2007 at 10:30 am

Time drops Kristol, Krauthammer.

Starting next month, neither “William Kristol nor longtime contributor Charles Krauthammer will be on contract” at Time magazine as columnists. Time said the decision to cut ties with Kristol was “mutual,” and Krauthammer responded only that he has “a lot of things that occupy me.” The New York Observer reports, however, that Time is “in negotiations with National Review editor Ramesh Ponnuru to sign him to a contributor contract.”

and Kristol responded only that he has “a lot of things that occupy me.”

Being completely wrong on every single topic, I guess that does take some time.

  2. Menehune says:

Same difference. Nothing changes except the by-lines

  3. Peter C says:

There is still no way I’m gonna pay money for that rag.

    1. organizing and cataloging his extensive collection of kiddie porn
    2. practicing his smirk in the mirror
    3. re-writing the history of GDumbya’s dirty little war in Iraq
    4. “tutoring” Jeff Gannon

  5. Zimzone says:

    Hammer drops on Kristol?

Billy Krisco is an outright liar. One of the original Neoturds, this classless act is a one trick pony. Pounding the Iraq war drum wasn’t good enough. Now he’s pounding the Iran war drum. His politics, allegiances and prognosticating have all been 100% wrong.

His opinions are as bad as his writing. Bye bye, ‘lil billy. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!

  6. leftcoast says:

Krauthammer wrote that “above all,” neoconservativism “is the maturation of a governing ideology whose time has come.” The original “fathers of neoconservatism” were “former liberals or leftists”.
The “Bush Doctrine,” according to Krauthammer, is essentially “a synonym for neoconservative foreign policy.

  7. Winski says:

Interesting that they would drop these two bozos and keep Klein!!

I guess a small dose of reality creeps in then = Poof! – it’s gone!

  8. Zimzone says:

Didn’t ‘lil billy inherit most of his resources from Daddy?

Another lucky sperm heir preaching bs & making millions.

  9. natisman says:

Seems like this is good news, cept I don’t remember the last time I looked at Time Magazine. I can’t even remember the last time I even looked at the dog-eared one in a waiting room. they really don’t have have any news any more! I now read Crroks and Liars daily and other internet sites as well. the news is a lot fresher that way.

Then when Time goes to the net, it doesn’t work very well. Does anyone still read time?

I don’t have the Time. (rimshot)

  11. Jason M. Hendler says:

10 or 15 years ago, that would have hurt these two columnists, but with their lucrative stints on Fox News, I am sure they couldn’t care less about Time Magazine.

I think it is odd that Time would dump them, given that progressives are shunning Time as old MSM. I guess Time wants to concentrate on the aging baby boomers, then close down when they all die.

  12. VerbalKint says:

Ponnuru is a grenade throwing idiot.

Why hire anyone to replace Krauthammer and Kristol, anyway? Republican mole Joe Klein is already doing everything Time needs to catapult the propaganda.

  13. RUCerious says:

Couldn’t have happened to a more delusional pack of neocon cowardly liars.

  14. lefty says:

Kristol was dropped because he kept submitting manuscripts with blood stains all over them.

  15. RUCerious says:

    I read Time magazine.

    In the doctor’s waiting room.

When there’s no other source of reading material within 400 yards.

  16. Jim says:

#11: I guess Time wants to concentrate on the aging baby boomers, then close down when they all die.

That would be the best thing that could happen to the corrupt, fact-free rag that is Time magazine.

I stopped reading Time when they published that slanderous article on Derek Zoolander.

  19. Blue Stater says:

Has O’Racist imploded yet over Time’s Person of the Year 2007?

I really wish it was Gore, the popping sound you would have heard was the right wingers heads collectively exploding.

  20. robertoroberto says:

Be interesting to see where Kristol ends up. May i suggest a lofty position in one of the many conservative think tanks? Maybe he’ll do a Wolfowitz and join in a behind the scenes role in the dying embers of the Bush Whitehouse.

  21. GSD says:

Ponnoru is the creepy gelding voiced dude that wrote the lame book about the American left called “Culture of Death”.

    Boo.

As far as Farthammer and Bloody Bill Krusthole, good riddance.

  22. GSD says:

Kristol should start his own DINK-tank.

  23. Uncle Ho says:

    Time drops Kristol, Krauthammer.

    yes! yes! YES!

But that does not mean I will subscribe to that rag.

  24. Wayne says:

Kristol should start his own DINK-tank.

    -GSD

Why? he has PNAC to run, he is still chairman there.

  25. Uncle Ho says:

RU; instead of reading Time while waiting at the doctor’s office, take up knitting. :-)

  26. Proud American Liberal says:

A glimmer of journalistic integrity beginning to emerge? Or just time to reload their right wing hackatopia? Obviously, Kristol and Krauthammer are no longer credible. Maybe they are going to try some other right wing hacks who haven’t been discredited yet.

  27. norbizness says:

Time magazine is going for the teen market with their younger, sexier, crazier reactionary dickwards.

  28. tombaker says:

uh-oh, Righties – Sounds like “the market” is speaking.

“mainstream America” has no more shelf-space for Righty.

  29. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper says:

Well, they have, after all, been wrong about everything. It’s about time.

  30. Marie says:

Time magazine hasn’t been worthy of its own reputation for years now; Kristol and Krauthammer contributed to Time’s decline. With Joe Klein as Time’s resident fool, they really don’t need to add another one of the same ilk — they might try for a little more balance — but that is probably asking too much.
