Bush considers becoming a lobbyist someday.

This week as Trent Lott prepared to retire from the Senate, he “found himself yukking it up with the president at the White House.” According to the Washington Post, Bush “joked” with Lott that “he may join the Mississippian in the lobbying sector.”

Yes, because what better job for Bush than being a chummy asshat who threatens, blackmails, guilts, and begs for money, and then does nothing with it?

  3. jayjaybear Says:

Yet another industry he can attempt to fail at. Yay. If Lott's smart, he's going to keep W at arm's length unless he wants to lose his new firm to bankruptcy...

Unlikely, he's never been able to support himself in his miserable, useless life before. Public housing, daddy's bailouts, he's worse than any welfare queen ever. Not to mention the mass-murdering, Constitution shredding and wholesale lying he's done since being installed by the 5 SCOTUS traitors.

  5. john o. Says:

Shrub has been a whore for corporate interests for the last 7 years, why should anyone be surprised if he keeps the red light on after he's off the public tit?

  6. Veritas Says:

He'd fit the bill perfectly: Big mouth speaking nonsense and corrupt to the core. Whore or shill - he fits the bill.

ISN'T BUSH THAT RIGHT NOW??? just wondering....

Hard to believe a scumbag like this would be thinking about making money off of his bloodthirsty conquests.

If Bill Clinton is making tens of thousands of dollars just by giving a speech here and there, I’m sure GWB can make a decent living in the same way.

The difference between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush is that people actually want to LISTEN to Bill. Bush will only have influence as a lobbyist if he has gobs of money to fling around (of course, my grandmother would have influence as a lobbyist if she had gobs of money to fling around, too).

Without the trappings of the office, and without Cheney's hand up his a$$, Bush won't influence much by words alone.

At least if Bush went into public speaking instead of lobbying, he could make a fairly decent living off the 24%ers. Of course, he'd have to find a speechwriter.

As long as I don't have to see him! But ultimately, I don't think he'll be hitting K Street too often considering all the warrants that will be out for him! I see lots of Congressional junkets to Paraguay.

    really? shlt needs a lobbyist?

  17. Menehune Says:

Bush is a creature of his connections--they made him who he is, they got him every job he has ever had. Connections are ALL he has. That said, he is probably a natural lobbyist since his head is there ready to be filled, for the right price, with whatever messages his "Connections" want disseminated.

You really don't know what a lobbyist is, do you? Here's a hint: it's not the same as making speeches.

  19. A Patriot Acting Says:

Looks like he's realized that he probably won't be making much money doing speaking engagements if his buddies Gonzo and Rumpfelt are any example of how well these cons have been received by the public. Probably a little worried about the populace actually asking him real questions and pelting him with rotten produce everywhere he shows his mug. Hopefully this is a mute topic as he should be spending his retirement in an international prison.

The most hated man in America since John Wilkes Booth wants to become a matini boy with the RePUGs establishment. he had better think about big a flack jacket he going to need just to get from one place to another.

Also won't he have to find someone some that will listen to his garbage?

  21. nofltwlt Says:

Thaaaaat's sooooo sweeeeeet. The little wooden head intends to keep supporting big busniess interests after he leaves office.

    Isn't that special?

  22. SkepticRising Says:

Well, that pretty much takes care of the fiction that Lott is not quitting before the end of the year to avoid the lobbying restriction, don't it?

  23. gummitch Says:

I do hope Shrub was joking. Has an ex-President of the US ever worked as a lobbyist for corporate interests? I'm sure that Bush Sr. and Clinton have lobbied for specific causes, but not as employees of a lobbying firm and not for corporations.

Of course, I wouldn't put it past him. His disdain for the Republic and for his oath of office has been obvious for years.

Think of it -- it's the perfect job for the Chimp-In-Chief -- underhanded sponsoring of terrorists and free boatloads of Chiquita bananas.

  41. shoeless Says:

    There’s no ground for impeachment...

    Comment by Frank M

What? Is treason no longer grounds for impeachment?

  42. po Says:

Frank, we meet here as well. HOw do you know there are no grounds for impeachment. Seems most of the evidence is being represented as having been deleted or destroyed. In judicial circles, this means it is perfectly ok to draw a negative inference from the destruction and conclude that the information would have contained evidence of wrongdoing. On that basis alone, impeachment hearings could (and should) be brought.

With this in mind, I have one question for you: If Hillary is elected will you mind her administration doing as W and Cheney's has? Be truthful.

  43. Coffins Draped with a Flag Says:

That's great news. He can destroy the lobbying business just like he destroyed everything else that he touches. This would be good for the American people.

Yes, he does have the 'King George Touch', doesn't he?
Unfortunately, everything he touched turns to shit instead of gold.

  45. Coffins Draped with a Flag Says:

George W Bush has the "Sadim touch". That's Midas spelled backwards and means that everything that Bush touches turns to shit. You understood the comment correctly, Zimzone.

  46. theswan Says:

It isn't enough to be a politician. Being in the political world in America is only a means to higher achievement....the lobbyist. Better teach the kids these highest of moral values. Forget the Lincoln or Washington values. It all for yourself here in America.

  47. tombaker Says:

Right - The only reason he agreed to front for the neocons was the promise of spending the rest of his life recreating on the public $. I'm sure he'll hang out with lobbyists, and rub their noses in the fact that he was Prez and they weren't, and they have to go work for $ and he doesn't. Maybe he'll even have a little fun by sic'ing his Secret Service detail on them as a prank, and fart on them while they're held down. That's post-presidentering, deciderer style!

  48. tombaker Says:

47&8 - I'll bet even the lobbyists are in agreement on that - they've got a tough row to hoe with reform in place, and no time to waste on anyone who won't/can't get the job done.

  49. SP Biloxi Says:

"Bush considers becoming a lobbyist someday" LOL! And now Bush has another pet project: to become a lobbyist. Someday... Someday either means that you are going to do it or not. Bush doesn't know what he wants because his daddy has bailed him out of every failed pet project that Bush has gotten into. With three failed business on his resume that Daddy Bush had to bail his idiot son out of, I'm sure his daddy will be bail George out of this new 'Alice in Wonderland' pet project.

  50. mary Says:

Then Bush continued, "Nah, I'm just making one of my lame jokes - but I will be one of those 'advisors' at Carlyle Group and make lots of money as a war profiteer like my daddy does! Now THAT is real moolah!"

  51. A Patriot Acting Says:

I'd love to know exactly what in Frank M's feeble mind WOULD constitute grounds for impeachment.
If flouting the laws you swore to uphold, wiping your ass with the Constitution that you swore to protect was not enough. Let's not forget that he's been listening in on phone/e-mail conversations since FEBRUARY of 2001, had daily briefings AND periodic intel all pointing at an iminent attack by Bin Laden which he chose to ignore. Oh yeah, all that destroyed evidence, yellow cake, "we do not torure" (which Frank M. loves defending as something that needs to be done, regardless of the FACT that it is illegal), destroying the government by filling EVERY position with an underqualified hack at the expense of the American public AND the safety of our soldiers. You get the jist of where I'm going, Frank. No grounds whatsoever. Maybe if Jeff gannon comes forward with a stained blue pantsuit Mr. M. will see the light.

  52. missmolly Says:

    "There’s no ground for impeachment"

    Comment by Frank M — December 20, 2007 @ 11:12 am

    1) Manipulating intelligence in order to lie to the American people about a threat if Iraqi WMDs,

    2) Manipulating intelligence in order to lie to the American people about a relationship between Iraq and Al Qaeda,

    3) Openly threatening aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United States

    4) Obstructing justice with false claims of "executive privilege" (again and again and again),

    5) Approaching telecom companies to spy on Americans in direct violation of the fourth amendment with no justification (before 9/11),

    6) Ordering torture for interrogation purposes,

    7) Ordering the destruction of evidence of illegal torture (CIA tapes)

    8) Destroying presidential records in direct violation of the Presidential Records Act,

    9) The list goes on and on.

There is more than enough slime under the rock to justify investigation and impeachment.

Contrast this with the impeachment of Bill Clinton, who was charged (and eventually acquitted) with perjury and obstruction of justice based on misleading statements he made in a sworn deposition about his sex life -- a sworn deposition he should not have to have made, since the case requiring it was eventually thrown out.

If you claim that nothing on the above list constitutes grounds to impeach Cheney and/or Bush, then I assume you also claim that there were no grounds to impeach Bill Clinton, either.

  55. shoeless Says:

Wouldn’t Bush need to be interested in politics to become a lobbyist?

    Comment by BARTLEBEE

No, he just needs to know which palms to grease in order to ensure gigantic profits for whichever multi-national corporations he is helping to rip off American taxpayers. Trent Lott can help him with that.

  56. DieNowForPeace Says:

How would Bush's job as a lobbyist be any different than what he's doing now - besides the paycheck and kickbacks?

  59. Gregor Samsa Says:

And you thought Abramoff gave lobbyists a bad name.

If the Bush version of "lobbying" is similar to his version of "diplomacy", there will be a lot of people with broken knee caps in the near future in Washington DC...
