Rove lands a book deal.

Rove lands a book deal.

After a three-week bidding period, Karl Rove has signed a deal with conservative Mary Matalin’s publishing imprint, Threshold Editions, to publish his memoirs. The bidding reached at least $1.5 million, but Threshhold would not disclose Rove’s final payment. When bidding began on Dec. 6, industry experts predicted Rove would get offered $3 million, though a publisher at Alfred K. Knopf said Rove “doesn’t have the personality” to land a major deal for his memoirs.

UPDATE: Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) recently signed an $8 million deal for his memoirs.

Um, who gives a rat’s ass what medieval superstitions Tony Blair subscribes to? Saying he prefers the Catholic church to the Church of England is like saying he prefers brand-name baloney to generic baloney.

  3. wisedup says:

Now there is one book I will NEVER buy….sorry Mary…ukkkkkk.

  4. Del Capslock says:

I’m sure he paints himself as a misunderstood hero. For me this reinforces the idea that the villain who is evil for evil’s sake only exists in the movies. People who commit evil acts on a grand scale, like Rove and Bush, have always convinced themselves that they are acting for a greater good.

  5. RUCerious says:

I DARE this little twerp to go on a book signing appearance. Without Shitloads of Goons for a security detail.
If he shows up anywhere in the NW, I’ll be there, not to buy this piece of fictional self praise, but to condemn his sorry ass for his participation in this criminal enterprise.

  6. Dagoril says:

Well it’s only fair. Ted Kennedy is at least 7 or 8 times the man that Rove is.

At least Kennedy’s won’t go straight to the remainder bin.

What’s the title gonna be, “Idiot’s Guide to Demagoguery”?

My guess is that Rove’s book didn’t generate the interest is because everybody figures he’ll lie throughout the book.

If he actually had insights to offer, it might be interesting. But he won’t. He doesn’t have the character for self-reflection. It’ll be another self-aggrandizing piece of crap.

Tis the season for being charitable. Mary Matalin is buffing up her Repub halo with this act of giving. Just give the guy some cash. It always calms them down.

“Doesn’t have the personality.” Big winger problem.

Who says that Bush crime doesn’t pay? Treason makes a profit…

  14. Fools on the Hill says:

He’ll make more on his second book, “How I was convicted of crimes against humanity”.

  15. LibertyLover says:

Didn’t Matalin also bail out Scooter Libby by holding defense fundraisers for him? Nice to know that cronyism is alive and well in America and with this group of thugs…

Maybe she should start a defense fund for Rove… I think that he’s gonna need it.

I can just see this book collecting dust, beside Coulters, on Walmart shelves worldwide.

I think you might have misspelled one word in there, Burro. Didn’t you really mean to say “… Matalin is FLUFFING her Repubs…”??? It does make more sense this way, no?

And overflowing landfills… don’t forget the landfills.

  19. Clumberfeet says:

Rove’s problem is that people no longer buy what he says and therefor won’t but what he writes.

A best seller would be a composite history of what Rove has done.

I see Jason has abandoned “cold_flaccid_right” and moved on to another handle.

Conyers does NOT care about Wexler’s Petition to start Cheney impeachment hearings!

Read the transcript from Democracy Now.

    http://willyloman.wordpress.com/2007/12/22/from-democracy-now-interview-with-conyers-he-doesnt-care-about-wexlers-petition/

He will NOT allow impeachment hearings to take place.

Conyers knows that Pelosi will undercut the efforts of impeachment rather than helping to build a bi-partisan coalition to impeach.

Conyers knows that Pelosi will again be Speaker of the House next year and she will take him off the Judiciary Committee if he goes against her wishes. It’s a “lose-lose” for him and impeachment.

Let’s help him and the rest of the members of the House of Representatives by removing an obstructionist Speaker. It can be done and must be done to start the impeachment process.

So, the conservatards not only buy books by the pallet of their conservative brethren, they also publish the books of their conservative brethren when they can’t get anyone else to publish their books. Nice little closed system they have there.

I expect that Mary Matlin is going to lose her shirt on this one. Couldn’t happen to a nicer person!

My guess is that none of the major publishing houses would take this on because they know that everywhere Rove goes to publicize his book, there will be protesters and the publishers didn’t want to be connected with the demonstrations.

Don’t forget his stop as golly_golly. Did that moniker get banned too and now he’s back as USA_patriot?

His handle should really be USA_traitor, because that’s exactly what he is.

  25. celtic cynic says:

If Rove’s book is printed on toilet paper, I’ll buy a copy.

    That’s three weeks’ lawyer fees?

  27. RUCerious says:

    Just to clarify USA PatisaRiot,
Rove is a fu(king coward who wouldn’t dare show his face without a squad of goons, and it wouldn’t be “lefties” there to kick his ass, but Americans.

  28. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Ask 10 people who Rove is and 9 won’t know.

    Comment by Gin — December 22, 2007 @ 5:28 pm

Aw, man, why do have to insult GOOP voters like taht?

  29. MapleStreet says:

Anyone know who Kennedy signed his book deal with ?

Reason I ask, is that Threshold pubs sounds almost like a vanity press.

“Asked if Kennedy would come clean on the scandal, conservative author Ann Coulter quipped: “He’ll cross that bridge when he comes to it . . . If he does talk about Chappaquiddick, I believe he’ll have to forfeit his advance under the Son of Sam laws.””\

Is that you Dennis Miller? Laughs all around. Oh, wait…since you became a righty your core audience became a whole lot slimmer.

  32. Sabyen91 says:

    Get it? Righties are stupid.

  33. Sabyen91 says:

I think Rove should make a rap album…really.

  34. bernard quatermass says:

“Lefties routinely use fascistic, thuggish tactics like physical intimidation and threats against conservatives who make public appearances.”

It’s the overwhelming B.O. you guys give off. It makes us insane, I tell you.
