#s 2, 3, and 4 smack of nation building and policing of the “world,” 2 things that candidate George Bush in 2000 said the U.S. wouldn’t do.

And don’t bring 9/11 into it. Bush said those words with full knowledge that Osama was still at large and would continue to wreak havoc around the world, possibly once again against the U.S. on our own soil. Given this knowledge, Bush sure as hell didn’t do what he could to prevent another attack against us.

Go ahead…tell us that Clinton didn’t do anything, either. And then I’ll remind you that in defense of her man Bush, Rice said that the Bush administration did at least as much as the Clinton administration did to fight terrorism; therefore, if Clinton didn’t do shit, neither did Bush.

Osama is arguably the biggest threat to this country security-wise. Since 9/11, have you ever seen the U.S. government release videos of any other terrorist group? No…it’s been bin Laden and no one else. But how does Bush respond? He doesn’t care that much about him.

DOD Instruction 7730.22, (”Reports of U.S. Casualties in Combat Areas,” January 20, 1967, and March 20, 1973) provided that the Vietnam casualties to be reported were all those occurring within the designated combat areas and those deaths occurring anywhere as the result or aftermath of an initial casualty occurring in a combat area. The current related document, “Military Personnel Casualty Matters, Policies, and Procedures” DoD Instruction 1300.18, December 18, 2000, is simply silent on this critical matter.

If anyone has anything more recent that DoD Instruction 1300.18 as it relates to how casualties are counted, please reply.

Here’s a footnote from the DOD’s casualty count page (PDF format) for Operation Iraqi Freedom that shows casualties; note that it does NOT include deaths outside of these areas that are combat related:

*OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM includes casualties that occurred on or after March 19, 2003 in the Arabian Sea, Bahrain, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Persian Gulf, Qatar, Red Sea,
Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Prior to March 19, 2003, casualties in these countries were considered OEF.

Far too many times peoples ignorance about religion rears it’s ugly head when discussing it on these threads.

Only someone with a screw loose would actually call the deaths of our brave men and women “amazing”, unless, of course, he was being purposely antagonistic (which is increasingly becoming his MOA).
