I'm gay but I'm tired of people both liberal and conservative who don't see the middle ground about this, for example, a good friend of mine is Orthodox Jewish, and is not allowed to have sex until marriage, I have sex now and then, and him and I get along perfectly fine. So I'm jus trying to say that ppl should jus get along instead of forcing their views on others, I wish huckabee and the other right wingers would understand that.

Way off topic.

This will be my last comment at TP. The editorial staff has elected to remove my response to a rabid attack, while leaving the falsehoods of the other party for all to see. This is unacceptable.

I’ve had fun, and, I will doubtless run into many of you on, effectively moderated, forums.

I can’t leave without a warning, however. The troll known as BARTLEBEE is a narrow minded, ignorant, hateful, judgmental, abusive sh!t-stain. And, when challenged, it lies like the lowest of conservative trolls. Don’t dare to disagree with it or you may be the next one subjected to it’s foul abuse only to have your response deleted as happened to me in this thread:http://thinkprogress.org/2007/11/29/huckabee-phone-call-with-god/#comment-4191249

Good bye.

Comment by pete — January 1, 2008 @ 10:57 pm

My beef is with the staff. I will no longer support their incompetance.

As if the wingnuts' sole criteria whether they denied rights to people is their notion of "choice"...

did women choose to be women when they were denied the right to vote?
Did African-Americans choose their skin color when they denied them the right to vote, were forced to attend separate "but equal" schools, could not sit in the front of the bus?

The wingnut argument that homosexuality is a choice, a deviant "lifestyle" and that this is the reason to deny them marriage or the right not to be fired by their employers quickly falls apart when you look at their history of denying rights. It is a convenient excuse to oppress another marginalized group in our society.

Hey Huckleberry, Is callousness genetic or is it a choice? <a href="http://www.newsweek.com/id/78241" rel="nofollow">The Newsweek article</a> about your abuse of power protecting your son from charges after he tortured and killed a stray dog in front of boy scouts makes me think that, in your case, it is genetic.

Some are, some aren't. Know that thing about yawning when others do? Here try this: rotate your right foot in small clockwise circles... Good... Now using your right hand with index finger extended draw the number six in the air. Did you feel your foot go backwards?

Go and invade the pro-Hillbilly blogs and forums and newspapers and talkshows and make your voice heard there ! :)

<em>Ron Paul 2008!</em>

And what makes you say that? His apparent libertarianism I suppose. But underneath that he remains as Religious as the rest of the majority of Republicans.

This is from http://lesbianlife.about.com/od/lesbianactivism/p/RonPaul.htm

<blockquote>
Employment Non-Discrimination: Ron Paul is opposed to Employment Non-Discrimination Bill that is inclusive of gays, lesbians and transgender.

Hate Crimes: Ron Paul opposes a transgender-inclusive hate crimes bill. As a matter of fact, he opposes any hate crimes legislation.

Same-Sex Marriage/Civil Unions: Ron Paul opposes same-sex marriage, but does not support a federal amendment to define marriage as only between a man and a woman.

Gay and Lesbian Adoption: Ron Paul voted to support a ban of gay adoptions in Washington, DC in 1999.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell: Ron Paul supports keeping the military ban on gays and lesbians. He said, "I think the current policy is a decent policy."
</blockquote>

There are references there to original sources (although I have not verified them all).

Watch out for Ron Paul. One has to look beyond his supporters to find out his true colors. He just might not be all that great.

Is daryll back from Rio yet? Sorry but I have been out of town and didn't have time to scroll this list for his insights on gayiety. Anyone interested in researching the science which has been done on the effects of hormones on the masculination and feminization of the brain. Still inconclusive but really interesting stuff.

Every time I have “acted” gay has followed the choice to do so, but I have a right to that choice since I am American. The founding fathers left a legacy that includes my choice to have gay sex, …

Assume facts not in evidence.

I’m open to being corrected especially about the, ” The founding fathers left a legacy that includes my choice to have gay sex, …”

Exactly why do you think the founding fathers left you this choice? Do you have some authority for this statement?

So what are his Christian recommendations for gay people to choose to do?

Celibacy? (like Catholic priests)

Hetero marriage (like Larry Craig)?

This guy is in no way qualified to lead anything other than a Southern Baptist church in Arkansas. Then again, Bush was elected for the same reasons Huckabee is trying to get elected, and it worked! The question is, will we make the same mistake twice?

The comment about orientation vs. behavior is really the first thing I have heard from Huckabee that sounds close to reasonable. Of course he uses his conclusion in the wrong way though.

I am gay and of course each individual behavior and action follows a choice, whether you take 1/1000 th of a second or 2 hours to make the decision.

Every time I have "acted" gay has followed the choice to do so, but I have a right to that choice since I am American. The founding fathers left a legacy that includes my choice to have gay sex, talk about my partner to my friends, listen to gay music, go to gay clubs (if I want to), bake chocolate chiffon cakes, wear plaid shirts with cutoffs, etc.

So screw you Huckleberry. I do make a choice and its my right. You have no business taking those choices away from me. Get the hell out of my American life. Ron Paul 2008!

The comment about orientation vs. behavior is really the first thing I have heard from Huckabee that sounds close to reasonable. Of course he uses his conclusion in the wrong way though.

In 1997, Huckabee requested an amendment to a state Senate bill stating “that it is Arkansas public policy to prohibit sodomy to protect the traditional family structure.” [Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, 1/23/1997]

------------------------------------------------------

A couple of observations about sodomy and "traditional family structure":

1) Heterosexuals haven't exactly revered and respected the institution of marriage. About half of all heterosexual marriages in this country end in divorce. About half of all American children spend (or will spend) at least part of their years living in a single-parent family.

2) Heterosexual marriage is being regarded as less and less necessary to having children.

3) Sodomy has been known to occur in heterosexual relationships, including heterosexual marriage.

And now sodomy is the culprit responsible for destroying the traditional family structure? Give me a break.

Huck is scary, but on reflection, the more scary part is the number of people that actually are going to vote for him or for the other "christian" talibans.

<blockquote>
Another large question is why does god hate giraffes?

I mean, he gave them this long, unwieldy neck that makes it hard for them to drink water from a spring, these gangly legs that make it hard for them to run, and -on top of that- he gave them “the gay”.

He must really hate giraffes too ;-)

I think God shows a sense of humour in devising an animal that can span three or four airport toilet booths in one very wide stance:)
