Going by this standard: b (1): a worker who refuses to join a labor union – does a writer in some small, podunk market, who works for a local show, and isn’t a member of the writer’s guild, qualify as being a scab, if he’s the only TV writer in the whole town of, say, Dennison, Iowa?

Exactly. They’re dong their shows without their writers, and without any scripted material – it all has to be improvised. The shows are not going to be nearly as good as they usually are, which will help show viewers just how critical their writers are. If anything, they’re helping the writers’ case rather than hurting it.

If I’m not mistaken the two are both producers, ergo MANAGEMENT. Im pretty sure management is allowed to try and run their shop without labor.

Huckabee isn’t a scab, he just may have pissed off a cadre of comedy writers.

As anti-union as most Republicans truky are, I would say “yes”.

As much as I dislike what Colbert & Stewart are doing by continuing their show against the union strike, what other options do they really have? Will the election be put on hold while the strike goes on? Nope. This is one of the most political times in the US, and they live by making fun of both sides. It would be like asking VPres. Cheney to not shoot at critters/people during hunting season! ;-)

Is anyone blaming the right-whining talking heads for continuing their coverage? Nope, not one complaint there yet.

Now, however, they are both “scabs”. Colbert for working on “nonunion terms” and Huckabee for being “a contemptible person”.

I still like Colbert, as he’s a great actor and performer, but Huckabee is just “a contemptible person”, first, last, and always.

Actually, I don’t read every thread. So, which thread was it? I’d really like to see you writing “Huckabee is a scab”.

If you read every post in every thread, what do you do for work? Or is posting on TP your work? Personally, I have a few free minutes here and there, which I read the posts that grab my attention. Some days I have more time than others.

The only standard I have is to hold people’s standards to them. When Pres. Bush attempted to label Sen. Kerry a “flip-flopper”, he oh-so conveniently ignored his own numerous and constant flip-flopping. Pres. Flip-Flopping Bush! ;-)

So, Good_Golly, if Colbert is a “scab”, then you have to admit that Huckabee is one as well! You can’t have two different standards for two different people! Unless you truly are a conservative. ;-)

So, Colbert “hired” himself to write his own show? Remember, the true definition of “scab” is someone who is hired to replace the current people to do the job they are striking against.

If Colbert is not hired to write, he cannot be a “scab”.

Now, why don’t you admit that you are wrong? Or is that asking too much of you?

By the way, Huckabee isn’t a “scab” as he’s not taking the jobs of the previous writers. He’s simply a scab on the face of humanity. ;-)

Also on CNN the other day, Huck was criticizing Romney for only hunting twice in his life—while he goes 30 times a year. Then Huck can’t figure out that the reason he is having trouble firing his gun is because the safety is on!!

Well, the question was asked last election; “Who would you rather have a beer with?”. I guess most people answered the violent dry drunk. I guess it worked. This time it is…”Who would you rather get loaded on sacrificial wine?”. Somehow I don’t think that is as appealing as the other. I don’t think it will work. The electorate is stupid, but they are not masochistic (or I hope they are not).

I doesn’t take Bobby Kennedy to make W look like a moron. I make W look like a moron. In fact he looks like a moron all by his lonesome.

I can’t believe the GOP would actually try and run another yokel. What this country is a LEADER who is well-spoken, diplomatic, forward-thinking, creative, and passionately concerned about the welfare of this country and its citizens. I just watch “Bobby” (great movie(, and RFK makes W looks like a moron. I want a POTUS who can move the country forward, not one that makes me cringe every time he says “nukular”.
