Though religion was just as important to Americans in the past, it has become an insanely distorted contest, like boys with rulers in high school. Huckabee disgusts me, and his either genuine guise or portrayal of the idiot is - as <em>Shayne</em> pointed out - so Bushesque it makes me vomit in my mouth. The Constitution has its flaws, but it will be a very dangerous day when Americans allow their fear to destroy the separation of church and state. I agree. I fully expect them to pull all the stops on their Rovian dirty trick book. This time, however, as opposed to 2000 and 2004, the American public is awake and listening.

All signs point to a huge loss by Rethugs of the Independent vote. Those who were leaning Dem are now considered Dem votes. Those who were in the center are leaning Dem and even those leaning Rethug are neutral or in the center not sure what they want to do. So there has been a marked shift to the left by Independents it appears, thanks to BushCo and its disastrous 7 years.

But this is just my take, and I am usually embarrassed by my predictions.
