Robertson: ‘I’m Not Sure I Heard From The Lord,’ ‘If I Did, I Hope I Heard Wrong’»

Earlier this week, Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson said God told him who will win the 2008 presidential election. “He told me some things about the election, but I’m not going to say,” he said.

Last night, Robertson appeared on Hannity and Colmes. When asked by Alan Colmes whether God had spoken to him about the election outcome, Robertson said he was “a little shaky on it” and was “not sure.” But Robertson then implied God told him a Democrat would win the White House:

COLMES: You said that you convene with God on a regular basis. You go into deep prayer and mediation, and you just recently say to you was revealed who would be the winner in November. Is that correct?

ROBERTSON: I felt so. But I’m a little shaky on it and I didn’t want to say anything about it publicly. I’m not sure I heard from the Lord. And if I did, I hope I heard wrong.

Sean Hannity then followed-up and asked who Robertson heard would be President. “I’m not saying publicly Sean,” Robertson replied. “My lips are sealed.” Watch it:

In 2004, Robertson claimed that the Lord told him it would “be like a blowout” re-election for President Bush. Bush, however, received just 51 percent of the vote that November. In 2006, he incorrectly predicted that “the outcome of the war and the success of the economy will leave the Republicans in charge.”

Guess that one didn’t happen. Either God was wrong or this guy really isn’t getting messages from God.

  8. DigDug Says:

Pat Robertson seems like kind of a cartoonish character to me. I mean if your right-wing antics are getting laughed at by Sean Hannity you’ve definitely gone a little too far.

What is a little worrying though is the fact that Pat Robertson actually does have an enormous amount of influence with millions of people.

    Ya Think?

    To paraphrase Archibald MacLeish,

“If God is God He is not talking to Pat Roberston.
If God is talking to Pat Robertson he is not God.”

Why does anyone still listen to this pathetic little man? He seems to be screaming for attention, and coming up with absurd ways to establish some sort of relevance.

Sorry, Pat — there are people in this world far more worthy of our respect and our attention. People who have a more sane relationship with God, too.

  12. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

I wonder why he assumes the voices in his head are from God and not Satan. When the voice tells him something he likes, it’s God (even though the voice was totally wrong), but when it’s something he doesn’t like, he’s not sure if it’s God. Why is that? Why does he assume that the God he worships likes the same things he does?

Oh, I’d upgrade from a little worrying to utterly terrifying.

The good news is, buffoonery like this - likely the onset of dementia - has GOT to erode his support and influence.

    I see, so now it’s 1000lbs.

Is Robertson pulling legs with weight-lift claim?: Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says he has leg-pressed 2,000 pounds, but some say he’d be in a pretty tough spot if he tried. The “700 Club” host’s feat of strength is recounted on the Web site of his Christian Broadcasting Network, in a posting headlined “How Pat Robertson Leg Pressed 2,000 Pounds.” According to the CBN Web site, Robertson worked his way up to lifting a ton with the help of his physician, who is not named. Clay Travis of CBS SportsLine.com called the 2,000-pound assertion impossible in a column this week, writing that the leg-press record for football players at Florida State University is 665 pounds less.

Pat Robertson has become the “poster boy” for acute and profound mental illness in this country. He’s clearly a psychopath at this point - advocating murder and all sort of dark, ugly things. And he calls himself spiritual? Not by any stretch of the imagination.

  63. Veritas Says:

Nat: You’ve got it! The mainstream media (a wholly owned subsidiary of the white house and the GOP) have painted Hillary as the candidate and much to their chagrin, they will be thwarted by the will of the american people who not only realize what they’ve been doing and how critical it is to the mega swiftboating already in the works for Clinton….but how they have a great deal to lose (like their freedom aka prison time) when/if Obama or Edwards gets into the white house. These two will not permit the criminals within to get their sorry butts off the hook for their crime spree but, instead, will begin hearings and prosecutions pronto.

This is a huge election - and what’s at stake here is not merely a political party inhabiting the highest offices of this country but it means prosecutions and the end of many political lives when justice is served.

Every Comedian needs a straight man, and Robertson is that straight man.

As someone who worked for Robertson’s 1988 presidential campaign, I can still say he would have made a fine leader of the free world.

You should all agree with that, since it appears you all hate the Bush family even more than you hate Robertson, and Robertson might have kept Bush One out of the White House.

Oh, and for all you with only two words for me, “Huck Huckabee”, all I can say to that is two more words: “Romney 2008″.

    Comment by O. Bigfoot — January 5, 2008 @ 5:05 pm

You are truly a Bizarro World inhabitant. Robertson, like Bush 1 and Bush 2 are all bible-Thumping crackpots. Since the bible ends with Revelation, this is what these “leaders” want to accelerate, or correctly said, cause. The Founding Fathers had the insight to keep religion and politics separate. On, Romney, all this coiffured Fascist has going for him is his jaw and his last name. Fsck all these Inquisitors, you are not going to make us build pyramids, nail us to crosses, burn us at the stake, hunt for us in unions, and put us on “undesirable” watch lists. Interesting. You know a lot of feminists who practice witchcraft, kill their children and become lesbians? Or, hell, do you know any feminists at all? Or are you simply delusional like Pat?

    Here’s a bonus quote:

“Well, I totally concur.” –Pat Robertson to Jerry Falwell following the Sept. 11 attacks, after Falwell said, “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say: “You helped this happen.”

Because Wiccans and Pagans represent the side of the brain that bored-again psychos don’t usually use. Much like the nuns would smack the left hand of children if they used them. You can see it, the Right Hand Brain is when Creative, Spatial, Non Linear thought originates from. The “devil” lives there, since those Pagans during the Inquisition used to eat psychoactive mushrooms, dance naked, make better healers than the clergy, and were midwives. This lifestyle requires more Non-Linear thinking than the rote, Linear thinking of the Cro-Magnon, Left-Brain dominated religious fanatics………The ones who jailed Galileo, Leary, and Reich, burned Bruno, made Socrates drink poison, and chased Einstein.

Many adults in the United States believe the current federal government has not been completely forthcoming on the issue of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to a poll by the New York Times and CBS News. 53 per cent of respondents think the Bush administration is hiding something, and 28 per cent believe it is lying.

Only 16 per cent of respondents say the government headed by U.S. president George W. Bush is telling the truth on what it knew prior to the terrorist attacks, down five points since May 2002.

If only 16 percent say the government is telling the truth, that means that 84% think that Bush may be covering up something. That directly contradicts your link troll.

Religion, in and of itself, isn’t the problem. The problem is the use of religion, by powerful people, as a tool of manipulation. Generally, it’s benign. But, when hateful (bleep)s like Patsy gain a following, there is a real possibility of “good” people being manipulated to do “bad” things. Many, many, people simply don’t have the strength, or resolve, to think for themselves. Those are the ones a predatory preacher, like Patsy, can influence.

Humans have always been susceptible to “charismatic leaders”. Most people simply don’t bother examining the motives of those who tell them what they want to hear. And religions become a powerful political tool when they fall into the “wrong hands”.

We live in a time where charismatic leaders have learned to use the, relatively new, methods of mass communication faster than society has built up a defense. Thus was born the “religious right”.But? There is some encouraging news.

While the religious right has drawn together, they have taken up a militant dogma that, to all appearances, is losing it’s appeal. And, by voting for their chosen religious figures, they marginalize themselves. Reagan gave them a voice. Bush 41 gave them power. Bush 43 let them display their ineptitude. And Huck may reduce them to the level of a bad joke.

The Iowa caucus is a prime example. The hardcore evangelicons gave Huck his “win”. But the “non-religious non-right” showed up in record numbers and made his “win” insignificant. The fact of the matter is that most people aren’t fanatics, and don’t like fanatics. And? I think Iowa was just the first blow. The first of many blows which will kick the fanatics back to the fringes of political power.

Cheney is most likely the culprit in keeping Bush ignorant, as well as in essentially turning off our air defenses on 9/11. Anybody who thinks 19 Arabs in hijacked airliners could do the damage they did with no inside help is truly crazy.

Oh here we go again with the “Magical Invisible Faerie in the Sky” story again. Yeah, right Pat, you charlatan, something that does not exist told you something, these frauds make me sick.

Can’t believe in this day and age that anyone buys this crap anymore.

    Evolution has left Pat behind.

We can agree to disagree. But, if I’m so crazy, why won’t anyone pursue it?

Crazy, and stupid. You’re the perfect republican tool. All the evidence has been carted out of the country and destroyed, and the foxes are still in charge of the henhouse. Where are the videotapes from any of the 80 cameras trained on the Pentagon, showing a giant jetliner crashing into the place and leaving a tiny hole? That’s just one of a thousand unanswered questions that only show the intelligent here that something is being hidden, and somebody is lying. You can buy the obvious lies of abvious liars if you like, but it makes you a Good german, instead of a good American citizen, who has paid for, and deserves, answers to these questions.
