Human Events names Rush Limbaugh ‘man of the year.’

Today in an e-mail to its subscribers, the conservative site Human Events announced that it had named Rush Limbaugh its “2007 Man of the Year,” for his “relentless pursuit of truth”:

As a result of orchestrated campaigns against him, Limbaugh has endured boycotts against his advertisers, pressure on his affiliates to drop his program, and even a campaign to keep him off Armed Forces Radio. Against Limbaugh’s iron will and focus on truth, these battles fell flat and Limbaugh’s ratings are stronger than ever. Because his ability to fight mistruths and politically correct lies has only grown stronger, Human Events is proud to have him as their “Man of the Year.”

Human Events specifically cites Limbaugh’s racist “Barack the Magic Negro” song as one of his greatest accomplishments.

UPDATE: At The Corner, K-Lo unsurprisingly approves, calling it “another superior choice to Putin.”

“If we can’t think for ourselves, if we’re unwilling to question authority, then we’re just putty in the hands of those in power. But if the citizens are educated and form their own opinions, then those in power work for us. In every country, we should be teaching our children the scientific method and the reasons for a Bill of Rights. With it comes a certain decency, humility and community spirit. In the demon-haunted world that we inhabit by virtue of being human, this may be all that stands between us and the enveloping darkness.” -Carl Sagan, Demon Haunted World

Too funny. Goon_golly thinks the Los Angeles Times is “liberal”. I bet he also thinks the Washington Post and the New York times are also “liberal”. Unfortunately the only “liberal” media we have out there in print is the Nation Magazine. On air there really is nothing liberal except for Countdown and on the radio the only liberal voice is Air America. One has to wonder why the MSM is 90% conservative. Could it be because we have deregulated the media and 90% is owned by conservatives. Nah…that can’t be the answer, could it?

The lunatic fringe of America’s most dysfuntional citizens get more undeserved attention than rational main stream Americams get deserved attention because profiteers have purchased control of the media. Rush Limbaugh is pure proganda bought and paid for by right wing radicals trying to expolit the worst angels of a fearful, misinformed, confused and narrow minded citizenry for political and financial gain. The Rush Limbaughs of the world are the snake oil salesmen of modern society who have sold their souls for twenty pieces of silver. They aren’t just lying megalomaniacs; they are deliberately undermining and abusing the very freedoms that allow them to spew hatred and fear in order to impose their extremist values and mercenary objectives on an ignorantly malleable group of well-meaning but victimized dupes. What I hate most about Rush Limbaugh is that he knows that his purpose is to incite and rally those most capable of turning to the dark side. He is a predator who recruits and pollutes the minds and souls of gullible and unevolved intellecutal and psychological misfits of American society. He is a maliously purposeful whore of hatred.

    You forgot
“Real men don’t use an ingrown hair on their butt as an excuse to get out of serving in Vietnam.”

As for Time Magazine, they have ever since they’ve been in print chosen people who may not be acceptable as “Men/Persons of the Year” (Hitler, Khomeni), so it really wasn’t much of a suprise that they chose Putin.

Human Events isn’t so objective. They report on stories that are more right-leaning and supportive of the current administration. So that’s why I find it a bit unusual that they chose an entertainer over either General David Petraeus or the American troops.

I’ve heard this before and while it’s outrageous, it’s RUSH after all — and he only says things like this to provoke. Unfortunately, we have become so desensitized to shock radio shows that unless you actually utter the “N” word, all you might get is an eyeroll.

Rush has truly created an environment for himself where people fall into two groups — those who obediently sop up everything he says without dissent, and those who no longer pay any attention to him. This is why he gets away with saying what he does.

I think this same phenomenon applies to Michael Savage, who says things far worse than either Rush or Imus has ever uttered.

  110. vordabois says:

    158. Using the term in the diminutive is never acceptable. Playing on the diminutive is never acceptable. In this instance, while the Los Angeles Times article was a piece addressing the racial inequalities at its heart in a logical and analytical manner, Rush was clearly capitalizing on the diminutive aspects of the term.

And I say that white people can’t use the term because rarely have I heard a non-black person NOT play on the diminutive. It’s not something you hear.

(Oriental, white, whatever, it doesn’t matter.)

  111. joe cantwell says:

Hey, idiot, don’t you remember that McNabb went to the Super Bowl a year after the Limpballs insult. I guess that doesn’t count. That incident was the only time Limpballs was held accountable for the vile that comes from his mouth and yes, he was fired.

Actually, that’s not what Kerry meant, either. What he meant was that if you don’t study hard and get a proper education, you might find yourself sitting in the Oval Office giving the order to make a very unwise invasion of another country, and thereby getting stuck in a quagmire that dooms your presidency and the respect of the world toward your country. In other words, he wasn’t talking about the troops at all. He was talking about Bush.

Admittedly, he botched the “joke” horribly (some people should NEVER try comedy!). He apologized and clarified later (which is more than Rush has ever done) — reiterating his support for the troops. He explained that he in no way meant that our military personnel were uneducated or inferior in any way.

Once, in response to a caller arguing that black people need to be heard, Limbaugh responded: “They are 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?”

LIMBAUGH: Yeah. This is — you’re not going to believe this, but it’s very simple. And the sooner you believe it, and the sooner you let this truth permeate the boundaries you have that tell you this is just simply not possible, the better you will understand Democrats in everything. You are right. They want to get us out of Iraq, but they can’t wait to get us into Darfur.

    CALLER: Right.

LIMBAUGH: There are two reasons. What color is the skin of the people in Darfur?

    CALLER: Uh, yeah.

LIMBAUGH: It’s black. And who do the Democrats really need to keep voting for them? If they lose a significant percentage of this voting bloc, they’re in trouble.

CALLER: Yes. Yes. The black population.

LIMBAUGH: Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

No, the Swift Boat testimony by troops who served with John Kerry has not been debunked. It has been verified. Why do you think he isn’t running for President?

    Comment by good_golly — January 7, 2008 @ 5:27 pm

Do you really believe this is the reason John Kerry is not running? Really? Come on, you can not be that simple minded. The decisions to run for president is very complex and multidimensional. Come on, you can’t really believe this. Are you an ideologue hack? For real. Damn this is weird simplistic thought

  181. Fred says:

I find it odd that you moonbats believe that 265+ Vietnam veterans, all of whom, unlike the sissy Kerry, served their full tours in Vietnam, were able to conspire tolie about Kerry’s record and, four years later, not a single one of them has come forth to expose the conspiracy.

Kerry was at least there…….can’t say the same for w

  182. Leftside Annie says:

OK – let’s talk about why BUSH didn’t finish HIS service, shall we…?

Even if you morons still believe that stupid Swift Boat crap, no matter HOW you spin it, John Kerry SERVED.

That coke-snorting punk you all worship did NOT serve.

Spin that. And then sit on it.

  183. ralph the wonder llama says:

Even if you morons still believe that stupid Swift Boat crap, no matter HOW you spin it, John Kerry SERVED.

    Comment by Leftside Annie — January 7, 2008 @ 5:35 pm

Annie, here’s the “beauty” of the right-wing mind: it can only keep a single thought at a time. So as long as GiGi keeps touching herself while repeating “the swiftboaters were right, the swiftboaters were right”, she can keep at bay your point about Bush going AWOL.

One of the advantages of a limited intellect.

  184. Lefty Patriot says:

The record shows that you are a liar.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:42 pm

That very record show you are the liar, slag. Bush deserted. nobody has collected the $10,000 reward offered for proof of his honorable discharge. he was a coke-snorting, whoring drunk who only got into a non-combat unit through the office of his daddy, and who refused to defend the USA. all your lies don’t change the facts of the matter, nor the fact that he has lost all three wars he started. he’s a punk loser, a traitor and a sociopath. no wonder you like him, since you traffic in lies and character assassination.

  185. Lefty Patriot says:

At that time, the swiftboats patrolled the coastal areas of Vietnam and saw very, very little action. However, the mission was changed after Kerry asked for swiftboat duty. It was clear that he did not want to serve in Vietnam and that he schemed to leave Vietnam as early as he could.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:46 pm

More bullshit. you are a victim of the lies of traitors.

  186. Lefty Patriot says:

What are you? 11? Grow up.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:47 pm

Look who’s talking, a stone liar. What are you, 6? Bush deserted, case closed. kerry was decorated, and the Navy review found nothing to change the facts. Sucks to be a lying loser like you, hey, slag?

  187. ralph the wonder llama says:

Kerry was just there for three months.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:46 pm

    How long was GWB there?

  188. Zooey says:

That’s B.S. When the unemployment rate is below 5%, there are clearly other employment opportunities out there for anyone who is qualified to serve in the military.

I suppose you moonbats even think Pat Tillman joined the military because he needed a job.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:25 pm

You are so full of shit, your eyes are brown. You think you’re some sort of authority on people I KNOW, and you DON’T. Time didn’t begin in 2000, you moron, and Pat Tillman isn’t your ordinary recruit.

BTW, Pat Tillman was about to blow the lid off your little world.

  189. ralph the wonder llama says:

    # 286, lefty Patriot skewers the Man-Slag’s tissue-paper arguments, so the Man-Slag predictably employs the Clinton Did Itâ„¢ defense.

But I did like the “What are you? 11?” line of attack. Very well-crafted.

  190. Zooey says:

Do you moonbats realize how hypocritical you are? Bill Clinton received two draft induction notices, renged on his deal with Col Holmes to serve in the University of Arkansas ROTC, and was a leader in a KGB-organized protest against his own country in England. Yet Bush’s leaving the Guard a few weeks early to earn his MBA is a greater sin in your diseased minds.
    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:52 pm

Where’s the BS? Unlike you moonbats, I can back up what I write here.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 5:58 pm

the BS is in assigning motives to Kery that are lies. He wanted a year to finish a graduate degree, but didn’t get it, so enlisted. Wow, what a coward. Then he went and fought in the most dangerous of all missions, and his crew considers him a hero, to this day. Your cheap, transparent character assassination will only work on someone as stupid and partisan as you, you, who will claim that the deserter-in-chief finished his service, when it is clear that he didn’t, and that battalions of political shills were engaged to cover up the embarrassment of a deserting coke freak being run for president. Youa re hopelessly stupid, and you must really hate your country to defend the little royalist puke that is solely responsible for 9/11, the lost Iraq war, the loss of Osama, the loss of Afghanistan, and the loss in the GWOT. You aren’t worth a bucket of Bush’s alcoholic puke.

  193. Fred says:

I don’t think you can comprehend how little I care what you think manslagt

  194. Lefty Patriot says:

I actually skewed “Patriot’s” so-called arguments. You moonbats hate to be reminded of Bill Clinton because you know those reminders expose your hypocrisy.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 6:02 pm

yes, Bill Clinton, 8 years of peace and prosperity; we lefties alwys run from that. Too bad your boy Bush couldn’t get a blowjob from his own stepford wife, perhaps he wouldn’t be such a sociopathic mass-murderer. can’t blame laura, though, she’d rather run his ass over like she usually does to disappointing boyfriends.

  195. Lefty Patriot says:

    PROVE IT.

    Comment by Zooey — January 7, 2008 @ 6:00 pm

Not only can he not prove a word of it, but he thinks it matters one whit. Clinton was, correctly, against the war. Bush wasn’t; he was just a rich frat-boy coward with strings to pull. Bush should have died in the jungles of Viet Nam; his life would have been worth something, his parents could have been proud of him, instead of being shamed into crying publicly over his massive failures and embarrassments.

  196. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Clinton Did It!

    Clinton Did It!

    Clinton Did It!

  197. Lefty Patriot says:

left us vulnerable to attack from terrorists. He also left Bush with a recession.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 6:09 pm

2 more lies. Are you going for a record? Bush was in charge on 9/11, thus at fault. Bush’s recession happened on Bush’s watch, thus he is reponsible. Your “party of personal responsibility” sure does like to weasel out, doesn’t it? You’re a sad case, liar.

  198. Keith says:

well, that’s not going to happen with the fairy-tales you’re posting. what’s your next excuse for Republican failure over the past 80 years?

  200. ralph the wonder llama says:

The trolls are out in force today.

Maybe they think that what they make up for in quantity, they can lose in quality.

Oh, hell, what am I saying? Man-Slag, GiGi, the Cloudy one, they don’t care about quality. Not if “quality” means making sense.

  201. Leftside Annie says:

Sorry, Manny. No matter how hard you spin (BTW, you’re up to F5 already), you can’t change the facts.

Bush got special treatment because of Daddy Bush, he deserted his unit and, worst of all, skipped out on his physical because he wouldn’t have passed it due to his drug use.

Spin all you want. The facts remain.

  202. Keith says:

Haven’t read every post. Did the slurs on Kerry get started because someone mentioned Rush avoiding Nam because of a cyst on his fat a$$?

  204. Fred says:

No, the trolls are just trying to deflect the enomous embarrassment they feel at having Human Events name a drug-addled, racist pedophile as their hero of the moment. Can’t blame them, really. They would have been more conmfortable with somebody more like Bush, say, Charles Manson.

  206. Keith says:

Human Events should have said “his relentless pursuit of OXYCONTIN, proper name: HILLBILLY HEROIN”! How many thousands did he buy illegally? One guy got 20 years in prison for selling two!

  207. ralph the wonder llama says:

Haven’t read every post. Did the slurs on Kerry get started because someone mentioned Rush avoiding Nam because of a cyst on his fat a$$?

    Comment by Keith — January 7, 2008 @ 6:14 pm

Keith, I could be wrong, but I think the Kerry derailment may be partially my fault. One of the trolls defended Limpball’s repeated airing of his “Barack the magic Negro” song parody as a joke, therefore, not racist.

I pointed out that claiming an offensive comment is a “joke” and therefore not offensive is a typical right-wing tactic.

Someone, possibly the Man-Slag, piped up with an example of John Kerry’s botched “stuck in Iraq” joke and the trolls were off to the races.

  208. Keith says:

    Comment by Lefty Patriot — January 7, 2008 @ 6:16 pm

Are you saying the reason Rush came back from the Dominican Republic with erectile dysfunction meds under a false name is because the country is famous for underage sex? Does Rush go for boys or girls?

  209. Lefty Patriot says:

In addition, it was Clinton’s policies vis-a-vis Iraq that ultimately led to 9/11.

The Clinton-Gore recession started in March 2001 while we were still operating under the final Clinton-Gore budget.

OK, two more lies to debunk:
    1. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. the terrorists were merely waiting for an idiot like Bush to steal the office before they executed their plan, knowing they would never pull it off with a real president in office. Bush was a dream come true for them, and they acted. Successfully. Al Qaeda did not attack “us” on october 2000. make that three lies.

    2. Bush destroyed the Clinton-Gore budget immediately upon taking office, or he would have enjoyed continuing prosperity. he hasn’t the skills, brains or patriotism to do the USA any good, and he has proven that consistently from his first day in office. his job creation is a joke, and his off-budget, illegal, immoral wars have broken the military and the economy. I doubt that even an idiot like you could have done worse.

  210. Keith says:

A Rush lover making fun of Schultz’s waistline. The funny part is he does not recognize hypocrisy.

  211. Lefty Patriot says:

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 6:17 pm

sorry, there is plenty of proof, and nobody has been able to counter any of these arguments, in spite of hefty cash rewards. You remain stuck in your treason mode. just another republican traitor.

  212. Lefty Patriot says:

I have yet to link to the Free Republic. You’re getting desperate.

    Comment by Manslagt — January 7, 2008 @ 6:23 pm

You’re stacking lies like cordwood. It’s hard to keep up. You should get a job fact-checking for Rush, he lies like you.

  213. Fred says:

No embarrassment here. I think you moonbats are just jealous because you have no one as effective on your side. Air America flopped, Fox News has overtaken the Clinton News Network, and the only thing growing with Ed Schultz is his waistline.

    Comment by Manslagt

    Lets try this……
    Democrat president
supermajority for dem in both houses of congress

that is your future….even you know it although you don’t seem to understand that we are in power now so you should just sit down and shut up.

  215. Lefty Patriot says:

FOX news has overtaken nothing. only fools and traitors watch fox snooze. they’re irrelevant.

  216. Keith says:

The reason Clinton was in England is because when you are brilliant enough to win a Rhodes Scholarship (in constitutional law), they send you to Oxford—which is located in England. You probably thought it was Oxford, Mississippi!

  217. Keith says:

W never should have gotten into the champagne unit of the national guard. There were 250 on the list ahead of him and every single one of them had a higher score. He also had no ROTC courses.

The moment they began including a drug test as part of the flight physical, he stopped taking the flight physical. Therefore he could not fly (his only duty). Therefore no point in showing up. Except once for a dental checkup. The last two years he was AWOL at a time of war—punishable by death.

Noone could remember the wild son of a congressman showing up in Alabama even when they were offered $10,000 for remembering!

  218. Fred says:

And we were hated when Clinton was president. Remember, al Qaeda planned 9/11 while Clinton was in office. The Europeans didn’t care much for us either.
    Comment by Manslagt

Well this is just a lie…..no way around it. Just a lie. Al Qaeda planned 9/11 after bush sent powell to afganistan in july 2001 to offer them a deal…..pipeline across afganistan…negotiations broke down so powell told them ok…we will carpet you with money or bombs but this pipeline goes through.

  219. Keith says:

  242. RickS says:

So you see a difference between being a “liberal” and being a “leftist”?

A salute to American values! Don’t we have more eligible heroes and role models out there. Is this the best we can do?!

  244. RickS says:

So what makes a liberal different from a leftist?

I ask that question because last week, you said on the post about Huckabee criminalizing abortion that the Nazi Party’s platform during the 1920s was similar to the “Democrat” Party’s platform during the past 20 years.

  245. RickS says:

Still doesn’t answer my question of what is the difference between a liberal and a leftist, but I’ll play along.

Where exactly does it say Margaret Sanger got many of her ideas from the Nazis? I see a couple of quotes attributed to her about the 1924 law (using language that I’ve heard come out of the mouths of such present day personalities as Glenn Beck and Michael Savage), but nothing stating that she developed her beliefs into eugenics based on the policies of the Nazis.

And since it’s okay to use one-sided websites, I’ll just post this one:
    http://www.ppct.org/facts/research/sanger.shtml

    I found this quote interesting:
“…attempts to discredit the family planning movement because its early 20th-century founder was not a perfect model of early 21st-century values is like disavowing the Declaration of Independence because its author, Thomas Jefferson, bought and sold slaves.”

  246. dbadass says:
