It seems like most of Americans stand around with their hands out waiting for the government to support them. That’s why we are in such a money crisis. We should be supporting ourselves and freeing up the government to do the job they were first intended to do. There are legitimate needs that less fortunate people have, but that is what charities are for.

Instead of relying on the government to take care of my needs (i.e. nationalized healthcare, social security, etc.) I’d rather get out there and work hard and make my own way. The governments job is not creating charities for the world. That is the job of a good citizen. I give as much as I can to my church and charity, but I could give more if I wasn’t forced to hand over 15% of my check to the ill managed government “charities.”

I’m not necessarily a Ron Paul supporter, but instead a supporter of a free America. Wouldn’t you rather make decisions for yourself instead of a not so well oiled machine making them for you?

I believe I’m going to vote for Ron Paul because he shares my views on what the government should be. I just don’t see any other canidates who stand by what they believe over and over again. Just look at his track record. I just don’t see him flip flopping around. He is what he is.

I just kind of ran up on this site randomly, so I may or may not be back. I just thought I would contribute to this thread.

All of these corrupt institutions we have, they become harder to fix the longer they are around. We just get used to it, “that’s how it is.” What other candidate would actually have the stones to want to do away with the war on drugs. It’s the smart and logical thing to do, it’s not getting a damn thing done, but no one else wants to change things. They’d just toss money at it to try and fix it or add new “government programs” that are just going to be misused or abused. Who else has talked about how the Patriot Act is just a fascism indisguise, would the other candidates even acknowledge the existence of the Bilderberg group? No, everyone wants to just turn a blind eye, “look at my great new health care plan instead!”

Also, I haven’t seen any articles yet, like this one here knocking the guy, that hasn’t been distorted or misinformed in some way.

OTOH – as he’s running for Republican, could the backlash against his actions spill over onto the other Repub candidates ?

I think it’s tragic, seeing so many (otherwise intelligent) people supporting this man and his “ideas”.

Do you believe Ron Paul’s decision not to Run on an Independent ticket will disappoint his supporters?

What logic does TP use to report on Ron Paul being censored from the Fox debate (last week) but remain silent on Kucinich and Gravel being excluded from the ABC debate? I’d love to hear your explanation. Is it the same twisted logic that you use to report on Valerie Plame but won’t touch Sibel Edmonds (which is THE story today).

Sorry, I cannot let this go. Something stinks at TP.

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich filed a complaint with the FCC on Friday after ABC News excluded him, fellow Democrat Mike Gravel and Republican Duncan Hunter from its prime-time debates on Saturday.

Kucinich argued that ABC is violating equal-time provisions by keeping him out of the debate and noted that ABC’s parent Walt Disney Co. had contributed to campaigns involving the four Democrats who were invited.

i understand, Bruce, but these traitors need to be kicked in the balls as often as possible. We never win against them if we fight fair. The only reason we’re in this mess is because of republican lies, thievery and treason.

I’ve fixed the attribution on the Reason quote, making clear that it is the Reason writer’s characterization of Paul’s position, not his direct words. Sorry for any confusion.
