In today’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said that senior administration staffers traveling with the President in the Middle East will be posting “periodic updates” at Trip Notes on whitehouse.gov. In response to questions from reporters, Perino eventually admitted that yes, it would be a “little bit like a blog”:
QUESTION: Blog?
PERINO: A little bit like a blog, yes — dare I say.
QUESTION: Bolten? Hadley? You?
PERINO: Probably all of the above. Ed Gillespie is also on the trip. And also Bill McGurn, our speechwriter, he’s on the trip. So they’ll be available at whitehouse.gov, and we hope to do something daily, but we’ll just see how the trip goes.
QUESTION: Is it just for the trip?
PERINO: Yes, because it’s a trip to the Middle East. (Laughter.)
QUESTION: Trip notes — there could be another trip.
PERINO: Well, we’ll see how it goes, and then we may do it in the future as well.
Political advisor Ed Gillespie is on the trip? Pray tell, why?
January 8th, 2008 at 1:51 pmEgad — now we’ll get highly spun BS from Bushco in the form of a blog. Either that, or it’s all going to sound like “What I Did On My Summer Vacation”.
January 8th, 2008 at 1:56 pm.
Of course they’ll be “FIXING FACTS” along the way.
.
January 8th, 2008 at 1:56 pmThis is the worst idea I have ever heard. They will either regret this, terminate it, or both.
January 8th, 2008 at 1:56 pmI give the whitehouse.gov a BIG BRONX CHEER!!!!
January 8th, 2008 at 1:58 pmBlog is the most overused word in technology for the last several years. Many Web sites which are not blogs have been labeled as blogs. The idea of posting periodic updates to a Web page predates blogs by many years. I think it’s time to retire this word since it usually doesn’t mean much more than “Web site”.
January 8th, 2008 at 1:58 pmWhich one of Bush’s “Internets” will they be blogging on?
January 8th, 2008 at 2:00 pmPERINO: Well, we’ll see how it goes, and then we may do it in the future as well.
Dana, you dear little bimbo, I would prefer that you see how the trip goes and then decide not to take our embarrassing little presi-dunce on a foreign road trip again.
January 8th, 2008 at 2:01 pmHeh. Excellent….what was that address…?
January 8th, 2008 at 2:04 pmI think it’s time to retire this word since it usually doesn’t mean much more than “Web siteâ€
In this particular case of “periodic updates” from GDumbya trip, I would suggest it would be more accurate to refer to them as “rtulbfpd”s (real-time updates on the latest Bu$h foreign policy disaster).
January 8th, 2008 at 2:06 pm“A little bit like a blog, yes — dare I say.”
And now the Internets-in-chief introduces WH website into blogsphere? And this is coming from a moron who only uses “The Google” for find maps of his own ranch. Pass the popcorn please…

January 8th, 2008 at 2:08 pmQUESTION: A FOX blog?
PERINO: A little bit like a FOX blog. I really can’t say, It’s an on going fog, I mean blog.

HAH! I remember that – what a hoot!
Some idiot who didn’t know what he was talking about said that Al Gore claimed to have invented the internet, when all non-idiots understand exactly what VP Gore said.
It’s amazing that there are still idiots who believe that first know-nothing idiot.

January 8th, 2008 at 2:28 pmemails of rove’s… good times…
When asked what Vice President Cheney will be doing during the President’s Mid East Adventure she responded, “well, Mr. Cheney has a new myspace page. He’s been working on it for a while now and expects it to be up and running by the weekend. He’s been downloading unicorn and fairie graphics and he finally found one of those cute pixie-dust mouse icon thingies. Mitch McConnell even helped him to get music to play on the page! I think he used the theme from their favorite show, “Zooey 101″(they’re so cute, they never miss an episode down in the bunker)! He’s very proud of the page so you should all log-on and check it out! His “friends” list is a little thin though, so far it’s just his BFF’s Jeff Gannon, Senator McConnell and his Lord and Master Satan. Let’s all support the Vice President and sign up to be one of his new “friends” this weekend!
January 8th, 2008 at 2:29 pmBrilliant idea …………………………..I guess they figured it was easier to lie in print than on camera.
January 8th, 2008 at 2:58 pmBolton a blog? Will be a hoot for the masochistic community.
“User1: Can I ask you a question, Sir?
Bolton: You’re an idiot.
User1: Hmmm.., thanks, Sir. Can I please have another?”
January 8th, 2008 at 3:06 pmI wonder which one of the clowns in this traveling circus is going to be the one to give up their life to be a martyr. Then bushco can blame Iran and start wwiii (the apocalypse) just as planned.

“Throughout his Administration, the President has worked hard to put building blocks in place that will help create lasting peace in the Middle East. ”
