O’Reilly: ‘I should be’ on the Supreme Court.

Last night, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly discussed Indiana’s restrictive voter ID law, which is currently being challenged in the Supreme Court. O’Reilly dismissed concerns that the regulations disenfranchise low-income and minority voters as “ridiculous.” His solution? That he be appointed to the Supreme Court:

If I’m on the Supreme Court, as I should be, I say what is the down side of having somebody prove who they are [when they come to vote]?

In another vein, does Thinkprogress believe In Diebold We Trust? TP does not seem to want to talk about or investigate any possible electronic vote flipping in the recent New Hampshire Democratic Party. Check out http://www.bradblog.com or http://www.blackboxvoting.org or http://www.opednews.com for some detailed info on the monkeybusiness that went on there on the optical scanning equipment by Diebold on Tuesday. It would seem that the Obama votes were flipped for Clinton votes (exchanged), thus giving Clinton her “amazing” “come from behind” blah blah blah election “victory.” I am not suggesting that this was done by Hillary operatives, no it was mostly likely done by the Bush gangster regime, just to screw up Democatic primary politics… There seems to be no limit to which the Bush gangsters will stoop….

Progressives and liberals better get their heads of the sand and start demanding 100% hand-counted paper ballots in all elections or we are going to see a repeat of the Bush electronic theft of the 2004 Presidential Election.

As long as we have Republican corporations “counting” our votes in private with secret propriiaritary software, we are going to be ruled by Repubican fascists…

  24. JMOHR says:

bill’o is just a symptom of what is wrong with the modern conservative movement in the United States. They tend to believe in simple black and white answers to every question. There is no need to examine facts or to review the results of such a hastily and ill-conceived or executed. They know that as long as one acts with ideological purity, the right decision will be made. Liberals are hesitant. They want to examine the alternatives and asses the probable consequences of their actions before taking action. Clinton’s staff was known for its debate and self examination. A less efficient and messier system. However, I really feel that had the plans been carried into execution, it would be a far better world today.

I heard Veritas advancing this line and I must say it is mind boggling.

Hillary faces utter ruin and the demise of her 20 year plan if she loses as the polls say she will. She pulls a miraculous victory. There are allegations of voter fraud, and who is the culprit in the fraud? The Republicans!

    The Republicans saved Hillary.

It is astounding that anyone could think that, but here is what it tells me: in the estimation of some, any election which results in a Republican victory is automatically fraudelent – they must have cheated. Furthermore, if a democrat defeats another democrat in a primary and there is a perception that there is voter fraud, it can’t be the victorious democrat who is culpable, it is the Repbulicans.

To summarize, Democrats are incapable of cheating in elections and Republicans are incapable of winning without cheating. Sad.

    Comment by RUCerious — January 11, 2008 @ 1:57 pm

I am totally for a recount and support it 100%, though I am curious what Randi Rhodes will have to say about it, she is fine with the results because she is a Hillary backer. I have never seen anything like this 12 point swing in my life, no poll has been that wrong that I can remember.

My incredulity comes from the fact that several here on TP think the GOP, the “vast Right Wing conspiracy” is the one who cheated for Hillary and not Hilllary herself! It is ludicrous! It is blind partisanship on a level that abrogates the validity of any future election – why bother having them if your knee jerk reaction is any result you don’t like is fraud by the other side? In this world, you can’t simply be outvoted, there is no chance your views are the minority opinion….it is shocking and again, really sad.

  54. Xisithrus says:

Keltoi, I wouldn’t say its ludicrous because its certainly possible and I think we need to do away with wndows based voting machines which are inherently weak, as every virus/trojan writer knows.

If you go back and look at what Tom Brokaw said, you’ll see that there were other polls that didn’t make any swing at all. Those were not the polls that were cited in the news articles leading up to the primary. The polls weren’t taken in the last 24 hours or so before voting and the “news” didn’t take that into consideration nor the possibility that independent NW voters might not fall the way they did in Iowa.

Frankly, I was amazed to read about the huge Obama lead given all the previous polls giving Clinton a solid position in the state; I never believed he’d have anything like that kind of bump from Iowa.

A little article in the Toledo Blade gives one pause … The article is not long, but though sparse on words it speaks volumes. On Monday it seems there was a little “glitch” with the server at the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators. This server is actually a service allowing states to access federal databases as part of the verification process when issuing any state ID cards.

This little “glitch” apparently reduced the number of applications processed in Ohio, from a normal 10,000 per day to 35.

Can’t vote without a government issue photo ID… And you can’t get a photo ID.

This reeks of voter suppression tactics in the making by the GOP.
