Change = rejecting the Bush agenda.

Seventy-nine percent of Americans “say the next president should set the nation on a new course rather than following the direction in which Bush has been leading,” including two-thirds who “feel that way strongly.” “For the first time this is even more than said so about Bush’s father, 75 percent, the summer before he was voted out of office in 1992. And it’s vastly more than the most who ever wanted a new direction after Reagan (58 percent) or Bill Clinton (48 percent).”

Digg It!

Too bad a large portion of that 79% didn’t feel that way three years ago…

  4. Frosty Cupcake says:

Sorry, but polls like this infuriate me.

Where were these hordes of “change wanting” people during the 2004 elections? The 2000 elections?

It’s been patently obvious that the conservative movement has been a disaster for America ever since Reagan, yet Americans keep electing these hacks.

I’m glad people are *finally* waking up, but Jebus! What took them so long?

  5. Fritz says:

I am not surprised about wanting “a new direction”…all of that “turning the corner” in the last seven years has left me dizzy.

yeah… it’s important for people to distance themselves from Bush now so they can forget how complicit they’ve been.

I’m more interested in those who did, but now wish they hadn’t.

    That’s one HUGE number.

  14. gus smith says:

Unfortunately most Americans appear to not follow too closely or at all what is going on in government. We seem to have to have disaster before the majority get discontent, too many years too late. And what about the foolish 30% who can’t even see outside their own political party and the losing selections made? We all pay when our country is run in ruin.

The Republicans have seen this coming for well over a year now. They got ahead of the curve and started telling us that Bush isn’t really a conservative, and they don’t really like him anyway. Now, if we will just elect a “real Republican” everything will be just fine this time.

Yeah, what happened to those 59,054,087 dumbasses? I can’t find of them.

I would be happy if they could just find someone who isn’t a total dumba$$ bonehead moron like Bush…

  18. RUCerious says:

I sure wish those idiots who voted for Bushit in either election would stand up and say, I’ll take responsibility for this by paying for my share of the war. That would be great.

Good luck with seeing that happen.
You see, they are all part of the same machine.
9-11 was the starting point for their control of the American people and
    their endless ‘war on terrah’.
If you don’t think so, have a look at what they’ve done with it.

The ‘war on terrah’ is their wet-dream of a war because there is no definable end in sight.

  23. Bob says:

Sure, Change would be great, but the field is awash with three dollar bills and wooden nickels: no one can make proper change. Our choice is more of the same or more of the same with a different name. On the bright side, at least one person will no longer be eligible.

  24. hellinabucket says:

polls shmolls trolls. What matters is the content. A new direction is what is important. As Keith H. states above the current administration put all their eggs in the “War on Terror” basket. A never ending war going after a non defined enemy over unspecified regions (unless the whole world is the target region). But the rhetoric has grown thin. that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a threat from extremists. this has been the flipside of the rights argument. That those who don’t stand with them are against them. This has also worn thin.

It’s a new day America and we can stand up to the ignorance that has run this country for the last 7 years. If the poll reflects that great.

  25. macd says:

bush voters should be banned from ever voting again. Obviously they’ve shown complete incompetence by voting for this moron in the past. Why should they be trusted to ever making a sound voting judgement ever again. Obviously these people are too stupid to think for themselves.

  28. missmolly says:

Bush’s staff is optimistic that by the time he leaves office, his approval ratings will be up around 45%.

I suspect that if that’s going to happen, Bush will either need to change the direction of the country, or convince some of this 79% that his way is the right way.

Unfortunately, people aren’t buying that song and dance anymore.

Unfortunetely for bush, he thinks a legacay is when he gets into a club or a college because of his dad’s last name.

  30. VerbalKint says:

Yet somehow many of these 79% will vote Republican, even though the party itself has shown no interest whatsoever in changing Bush’s direction.

If the election goes in favor of one of the Republicans, we know it is fixed.

If there is a catastrophic incident before the election, Bush will use the little-known clause in the Patriot Act and void elections, making himself King George.

We all know what happened the last time we had a King George?

Well, to be fair, the orderlies at the “home” where Southern Man currently resides throw him in a broom closet once a year where they glued a “Simon” electronic game glued to the wall, and TELL him it’s a voting booth (Shhhhhh! Don’t tell him!)

  36. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper says:

10 years after Nixon resigned from office, a poll was taken that showed only 20% of those asked admitted to have voted for Nixon even though he had gotten over 50% of the vote. I forget who did the poll but I remember reading a story about it in the early 80’s.

I suspect that 10 years from now it will be hard to find anyone who admits to have voted for Bush. By that time, the results of his disasterous economic and foreign policy will be common knowledge and nobody will want to cop to being so moronic to have bought his b.s.

  37. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper says:

good golly: “You guys care far too much about polls, especially considering how often the polls have been wrong the past several years.”

In the months following the 9-11 attack polls are all you Bush supporters wanted to talk about. Don’t even try to deny it. And even George Will sited this particular poll in his latest column which was about how Repubes are going to lose in November.

  38. MiMiCcs says:

For the first time I am starting to believe that American critters are the victims of mind control. It’s not about Bush, although he is proof that there has been a radical fascist shift among the globalists as David Rockefeller relinquishes control and power reverts to an Anglo-Zionist controlling influence. The fact that the MSM does not treat Bush the way the polls would dictate he should be treated proves this.

Conservatism vs liberals, Republicans vs Democrats, Red vs Blue, take your pick, it’s all the same really. After all, those who control the money control governments, and this is more true today than it has ever been.

You are being governed by traitors who are loyal only to the international financial and corporate globalists that control us. You vote only for those candidates who have been approved to run (because they receive the money needed to run). They manipulate the media, polls and fix the vote counting to achieve their preferred outcome, but even if they fail to get their favourite in, no unintended or undesirable winner, as unlikely as that would be, would dare to change the course not already dictated (unless they want to end up like JFK)

Anyways, the clock has run out, guess you will have find out the hard way, sooner rather than later is my guess. If you are the victim of mind control, then you should not be judged too harshly for being unaware, and when the axe falls, you may not even know it, and that’s a good thing

  40. Keith says:

    Fritz, Frosty, and good golly,
I got a news flash—Bush did not win in 2000 and he did not win in 2004. The exit polls say Gore won Florida by about 300,000 and they say Kerry won the nation by about 3,000,000. That’s all the evidence we are allowed to see. We are not allowed to see how the electronic machines work [That would be unfair to the extremely conservative corporations that make them]!!!

Exit polls should be accurate to within about 0.2%. They always were BEFORE 2000! Why should they all of a sudden be off by a full 3.0%? Yes I heard the one about the shy bush supporters. If it were true, the exit polls would have shown it (very pro-Bush precincts would have had few poll respondents and very Dem precincts would have had a higher response rate). Guess what? The evidence showed the OPPOSITE is slightly true!

Americans are fools to allow their votes to be counted on machines made by strong Republican supporters.

The poll in this thread showed that the people like Bill Clinton a lot better than “Should be on Rushmore” Reagan.

  41. Keith says:

I’ve been listening to the Republican candidates and every one has been mentioning “Change” as much as they can and noone is mentioning Bush!

  42. nikolai says:

    1. bush was APPOINTED by the Supreme COURT, NOT ELECTED.
    2. Yes, bush is a dumb-ass, all the better to control him.
    3. 1 and 2 show the power of the elite of the republican party. The fact they can pull off and continue to pull off everything they do speaks volumes. They will not go quietly. They must be forceably dethroned, and it will take nothing less than a revolution to do so, don’t kid yourselves.

  43. Alejandro says:

So that leaves out Hillary then.

    And most of Obama’s platform.
