Following the Environmental Protection Agency’s failure to meet the House Oversight Committee’s deadline for producing documents, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) sent a letter to EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson today requesting “that the agency agree to production deadlines and provide relevant EPA officials for interviews.” In the letter, Waxman named “seven high-level managers he wants to interview.” The EPA claims “it is still working to collect the documents.”
Read the full letter here.
I sense another stern letter coming our way.
January 14th, 2008 at 4:50 pmIt’s dejavu all over again.
January 14th, 2008 at 4:51 pmY.B.
I sure those folks at the EPA are really shaking in thier boots now.
January 14th, 2008 at 4:52 pmOh good! He sent a letter!
January 14th, 2008 at 4:59 pmWhat he’s not going to ask them to testify so they can cite executive privilege. He must be losing his edge.

January 14th, 2008 at 5:03 pmI think someone at the White House is filling a scrapbook with all these letters. Years from now, they’ll flip through the pages and cackle demonically.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:09 pmI don’t think so gummitch. I think they go straigt to Cheney’s truck sized shredder without even being read.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:14 pmThe EPA claims “it is still working to destroy the documents.â€
fixed it.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:30 pmIf any of us ‘miss a deadline’…a cop shows up at our door with handcuffs.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:41 pmHere’s a federal judge in Montana that has the right idea: http://tinyurl.com/392s8h
I love it. Put the fugger in the clink.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:51 pmYou know, I used to think that Waxman was going to accomplish something.
January 14th, 2008 at 5:51 pmI also thought Waxman and a lot of other dems would get some oversight accomplished. Too many words (talk and letters) and not enough action. How’s that contempt thing going?
January 14th, 2008 at 6:08 pmYeah, the stupid saber rattling is an embarrassment. I wonder if he stomped his foot, too?
This DEM wants an IMPEACHMENT even if it’s only for grins. I think that Bush-Cheney AND their Corporate handlers MUST be holding pictures of every Democratic Congressperson with barn-yard animals. On the other side of the aisle, I’m sure it’s pics of GOP Congresspersons in Airport restroom stalls instead.
January 14th, 2008 at 7:02 pmThey will try to stonewall until mid-November!
January 14th, 2008 at 7:06 pmAnd on a related note, Rep. Waxman his issued a stern reprimand to Mr. Whipple, who has been accused of forcefully squeezing the Charmin against it’s will. inside sources say subpoenas are forthcoming, but doubt the Whipple cam will comply. Stay tuned.
January 14th, 2008 at 8:28 pmAt 41 cents per letter, our Democratic Gongress is bankrupting this country….
January 14th, 2008 at 10:01 pm#17, best post of the thread…
LOL
January 15th, 2008 at 11:05 amThe excuse that they are still searching for responsive documents is bogus for two reasons to my untrained legal mind:
A) Rolling production: Turn over what you have now, and produce other responsive docs as they are located and/or become available.
B) There has been no history of good-faith cooperation.
To just say, “Uh, nothing yet. We’ll call you…” Well…
