Bush at one time also wanted to allow the market to control prices, instead of government involvement.

But that was before he halted deposits into the SPR in 2006:

BUSH: One way to ease price is to increase supply. One immediate way we can signal to people we’re serious about increasing supply is to stop making purchases or deposits to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for a short period of time.

I remind especially the Bush lovers here that this was a move that he refused to take in 2004 during his re-election campaign:

“[W]e will not play politics with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That petroleum reserve is in place in case of major disruptions of energy supplies to the United States. And we must not put ourselves in a worse position in this war. And playing politics with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would do just that.”

And, it was before he denounced the same move by Clinton in the 2000 election campaign:

In a statement made a day earlier in response to Gore’s recommendation [to release oil from the SPR], Bush described as “bad public policy” the idea of taking such steps “in response to public outcry.”

Like you, I suspect a lot of THAT level of Bushie is probably looking at Huckabee like the wedding scene from Tod Browning’s “Freaks.” “One of us/one of us/gooble gobble/ gooble gobble/ we accept you/ we accept you/ one of us/ one of us…”

Well, yes.

But the remainder of “his” believers scare the hell out of me as they stare entranced by Huckabee. They truly cannot see why there should be a separation of Church and State.
I feel this election is already decided and we, the voters are just allowed to think we are doing the deciding.

texaslady, I think I only disagree with you on the idea that the 32% who still support Bush are “ultra monied.” I wouldn’t be surprise if most, if not all, consider themselves Christian, but this country would be in much better shape if nearly a third of us had money to burn. I suspect a lot of Bush supporters are blue collar and low-income but still swallow his “good Christian” BS hook, likne and sinker, PLUS believe liberals are the devil, so anyone who says what they want to hear is AOK in their book.

Correction: Bush IS the ass.

We hate the bastards as much as you, believe me.

Bush supporters: if he can’t get results from his best friends in spite of saddling the American public with the bill for $20 billion in military aid, what the hell good is he?
