Escalation has ’sucked all the flexibility’ out of the system.

In an interview this week, Army Chief of Staff George Casey said the high troop levels in Iraq are causing growing manpower strains on the Army. The Wall Street Journal reports that Casey offered this candid assessment:

“The surge has sucked all of the flexibility out of the system,” Army Chief of Staff George Casey said in an interview this week. “And we need to find a way of getting back into balance.”

UPDATE: Lawrence Korb and Brian Katulis: “After the Surge: U.S. Army Chief of Staff Casey Is Right to Be Worried

Of course it has. We have squandered our advantages and our preparedness by starting a “war” that didn’t need to be fought. At this point, does anyone actually believe that there can be a rational conclusion to the Iraq debacle? You can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. This is gonna’ take some ’splainin’, Lucy…

It’s a shame that Army Chief of Staf George casey’s opinions differ with Chimpy’s views.

  3. oldtree says:

Why does the General commit such treason as to say the boss is lying? Why doesn’t the general do what his oath requires and go to Congress and declare the war crimes he has been ordered to commit?
chickenshit talk doesn’t cut it. It is time for action or our military will be broken on purpose. It is no accident? Where is the pretense for it being an accident? This was all part of the plan.

are you tired of it yet?

Oooh, tough one… Howsabout we withdraw troops from Iraq?

Can I get a no-bid consulting gig at the Pentagon?

  6. Shayne says:

Why does the Army Chief of Staff hate the troops?

I’m guessing that this is a public message with a not so suttle hint to GW that there won’t be the available troops to attack Iran or invade Pakistan.

  10. Tomas says:

But Casey had no problem sending Latino servicemembers to die disproportionately in the this war of white oil aggression. Casey sucks.

I do believe I feel a DRAFT coming on.

  12. ForTruth says:

Sometimes sucking does decrease flexibility. I’ve experienced that.

  13. Tomas says:

You can have your draft but don’t recruit latino citizens. They have suffered enough for this oil grab.

  14. hellinabucket says:

    good one ForTruth…..
