Today, CREW and Media Matters sent a letter to CNN President Jonathan Klein requesting that former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed, a central figure in the Jack Abramoff scandal “with a deep bias against one of the major Republican candidates,” no longer be part of CNN’s political coverage. The letter reads:
If asked, most people would probably agree that “the best political team on television” would not include a person with a tenuous relationship with the truth and a well-known enmity toward a particular candidate. As Mr. Reed is, indeed, just such a person, CNN has no business including Mr. Reed as part of its hyped political team in future presidential news coverage.
Which means CNN will probably use this worthless turd.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:06 pmSemi OT, but Media related:
Did anyone catch Chris Matthews talking about the talking he has
January 17th, 2008 at 7:08 pmdone regarding Hillary as the lead off to Hardball? Quite remarkable
and unusal for him – I wonder what the return address was on the
horse’s head that apparently showed up in his bed.
Um – doesn’t CNN also have Glenn Beck – another worthless turd?
Go figure.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:09 pmDoes this mean that CREW won’t be viewed as a left-wing organization?
Notwithstanding, as pointed out above, CNN also employs the stinking turd known as Glenn Beck.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:12 pm#2, keltoi,
I did see Matthews’ apology. It seemed sincere. (although a horse’s head in one’s bed would inspire sincerity wouldn’t it?)
I also saw him on Jay Leno last night – he went on about how he runs off at the mouth and gets in trouble, but he doesn’t mean it as we often take it.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:15 pm(He is supposed to be a communicator, however, so the onus is on him to not be “misinterpreted.”)
I, for one, will not be too quick to grant him absolution – he’s got too many of these strikes against him.

January 17th, 2008 at 7:17 pmTalking Turds on CNN….24/7 Britney, OJ, Candy Canes and Jello Mountians. The MSM is bought and paid for by Corporations and they want they masses numbed by useless infotainment, what better way to pillage the country than to have them absorbed with celeb-0-trash then have them protesting in the streets. And if they do protest, don’t give it any air time, just like when the last big protests happened, no air time, no headlines in the papers, a non-event buried by the MSM.

January 17th, 2008 at 7:34 pmThey should do the same thing for that Beck guy. Everytime I see his lying face I continue to click the remote. He has nothing to say that I want to hear.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:41 pmCNN….CNN…oh yeah, they were the ones who focused a camera on airplane tarmac for two hours awaiting Michael Jackson to land.
Doubtless that kinda media discernment will bring sober judgment to any reasonable appeal…
January 17th, 2008 at 7:42 pmPeople that I think should have to swallow a turd as punishment for their lies to the American public: Dick(head) Cheney, George Bush, Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, Scooter Libby, Ari Fleischer, Scott McClelland, Dana Perino, Ann (puscrack) Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, John Gibson, Bill O’Reilly, Tucker Carlson, William Kristol, Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, Tony Fratto, Mike Huckabee, Johah Goldberg, John McCain, Joe Lieberman, Rudy Giuliani, Trent Lott, John Breaux, Nancy Pelosi (I include her for doing absolutely nothing to contradict the lies of those on this list), Michael Savage, Robert Novak, Matt Drudge, Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdoch, Jeb Bush, Katherine Harris, Jean Schmidt and last, but not least, Larry (wide stance) Craig.
Feel free to add to this list people that should be forced to swallow a turd.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:56 pmMSM would show anything to sell advertising, nevermind the truth. Kieth Olbermann is the acception.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:57 pm#8 Buckie Boy: Maybe we should protest in front of CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, etc. Then I think you’d see some coverage of thousands of angry Americans frothing at the mouth at the terrified faces on the other side of the glass wondering if working for these “news” organizations is really worth it.
January 17th, 2008 at 8:00 pmWho said CNN has any credibility on political or other issues?
January 17th, 2008 at 8:00 pm#14 Myself: I forgot Rick Santorum. He needs to swallow 2 turds.

Guess you haven’t been following the threads about KO and the Kucinich debate exclusion. Olberman is no different, he just serves up prodigious amounts of red meat to the left to appear different – except when he comes up against the owners of MSNBC and then he falls silent. Not too shocking, but he is no exception on any profound level, just a superficial one.
January 17th, 2008 at 8:15 pmIf KO is superficial, then what is everyone at Fox? Or CNN? Dennis Kucinich has never had a chance of winning the Democratic nomination any time he has ever ran, even with a hot wife! KO doesn’t have enough time in one hour to fully report on all the scandals and lies of the Bush Administration and of the Republican party.

It is gospel here that Fox and CNN are far right corporate stooges. I don’t necessarily agree, but it is a pointless argument given the TP milieu. KO is lionized incessantly on TP. On the Kucinich/MSNBC thing, the curtain was briefly pulled back on KO’s true colors, and it did not escape the notice of the sincere and honest Progressives here – he lost viewers among some of the posters here I respect the most.
As far as Kucinich never having a chance, you are absolutely right; many here say it is because the MSM marginalized him. I just think his views get no traction. But KO’s failure to raise hell about his own network banning Kucinich from the debate reveals KO to be part of the MSM machine, just one with a better sense of market niche.
January 17th, 2008 at 8:37 pmI, personally, like most of what Dennis Kucinich espouses, but for some reason, Americans don’t care for him. Even most liberals. Go figure. Maybe its his hair style (or lack thereof). Whatever but, in this day and age, I’d rather have Keith Olbermann than not have him.

And lots of folks agree with you. Having many viewpoints represented is great. Someone described him as “a moderate by any measure” a few days ago, and that I think is not in tune with his screen personnae. Since he DIDN’T summon the same wrath for his employers as he seems to find for everyone else when they banned Kucinich, maybe he is more moderate, or at least more self-interested, then I realized.
As far as Kucinich goes….I think it speaks well of the American voter that so few are willing to support him, but that is just me. Were he to become President it would be like a socialist revolution, and I am glad most do not want that. His goofy affect doesn’t help him; when you are completely mocked as “a woodland creature” and “the Lorax’s grandson” by such a committed leftist as Stephen Colbert you know you have Gravitas problems.
January 17th, 2008 at 8:56 pmCNN is just as dangerous as FoX Propaganda , an here’s an example .
Wolf Blitzer’s Pre War ‘ Debate ” – Had four people , one from pentagon, one from State Dept. , One conservative politician and one ” intelligence expert ” ..all supported the invasion Of Iraq, the only difference …when we should invade .
Abe Vreis (Dutch Investigator ) finds out CNN Psychological Operations Officers were hired as ” interns ” at their Atlanta HQ. . Ft. Benning is also in Georgia .
CNN hires Gen. Grange and other officers, and even ADMITS they contacted the Pentagon , for their opinion on possible hires . No anti-war , no neutral professors need apply .
Council on Foreign Relations is well represented(on CNN) , with R. Haass and regular William Cohen ( war profiteer ) . After doing research on these clowns , i discovered Cohen’s Co. represented ” security Co. ” that sprung up over night in Iraq, with NO history of providing such services, buy it is well connected , Ahmed Chalabi’s nephew is co owner .
Go to CFR’s own web site , and you’ll see articles such as “Monetary Sovereignty should end ” because it’s a hindrance to economic growth . Countries need a shared dollar, like the U.S. with Mexico and Canada . Rockefeller’s wet dream . As well as borders or boundaries , to increase profits .
The Anti- Palestinian BIAS is appalling , today 3 civilians were killed by the IDF , last week 12 in one day . In the last several months , not one live report on the dozens and dozens of killed by Israeli military , it’s regulated to the fast scroll . thats it, no verbal report, no pictures, no interviews .
Palestinians killed by Israel goes unreported because they do not view them as ” worthy victims ” , yet the opposite is not true .
My belief CNN is covering up the WAR on Somalia, which is on going , yet not reported, including U.S. air strikes , U.S. training and aid to Ethiopian forces and targeting of Somalians , including killing of hundreds and many rapes by U.S. backed Ethiopian Military. Story is CENSORED by CNN ” NEWS ” .
Yet these degenerates will send a reporter to neighboring Kenya , KENYA to interview Obama’s Grandmother, did you get that ?
CNN can not be trusted at all and the latest Iranian ” speed boat ” is the latest illustration of the complicity and the lack of challenging the government over ANYTHING .
January 17th, 2008 at 9:23 pmI think it it should be described as universal insurance, not healthcare, as it gives the wrong impression.

Well, lets take Ron Paul, for instance, he places above Giuliani in nearly every caucus, yet is marginalized by the teebee.

That is an excellent point. But Paul has probably three times or more of Kucinichs support – and when I look at some of the racist taint that exists in his newsletters, I think I’d take Kucinich over Paul, which is a pretty big stretch for me. Weirdly, some of their postions align completely.
But, the pre-season is about to end. Normally we go straight to the Super Bowl after Super Tuesday, but this year is looking like an extended round. Just about anything could happen, but on the list of impossibles is Paul or Kucinich still being in play by the Summer.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:34 pmBut Paul has probably three times or more of Kucinichs support.
Yet Rudy is about equal with Dennis K.
That said, the media is not much different from a blog. They decide what is to be allowed and not allowed. I myself have had posts deleted by this very blog, and do not hold that against them, its their blog.
So, what is the solution? I would love to see people of all parties support a no holds barred referendum where all candidates can speak and debate without profit based media.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:43 pmIf America is to be an empire, and it basically has become that, I would vote for the Solon candidate and deny the Lycurgus one.

Have you ever read Plato’s Republic? You describe his philosopher-king.
There is an utterly fantastic historical novel by Renault called ‘The Mask of Apollo’ which describes Plato’s efforts to shape government by the art of persuasion. Worth a look.
January 17th, 2008 at 11:02 pmI posted this link yesterday but will re-post it again:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/01/16/king/index.html
Here Glenn Greenwald posts an email verbatim sent to him by another member of “the best political team on television”, John King, who has shown repeatedly that he is a brazen McCain suck up. This ill-judged email is well-described as petulant, childish, poorly thought out, and badly written. King comes across looking like a self-absorbed junior high schooler.
January 18th, 2008 at 5:37 pmKucinich didn’t have a chance from day 1. When they did allow him in debates, they avoided him, Dodd, Biden, Richardson. The media had decided on Clinton and Obama from the beginning. Dennis advocates Universal Health Care. The rest are talking Insurance. Dennis scares, many–drug companies, insurance companies, media, Oil, corporations, military industrial complex. I love him.
Let’s be honest. The best qualified candidates are out. Hillary can be bought and Obama may just turn out to be a pushover to the ruthless. However, I’ll be voting Democratic regardless. There is some difference between (D) & (R) still. Although, I’d like to see some (D)’s replaced with better ones.
