Karl Rove, President Bush’s former chief political strategist, delivered a 3,200 word speech yesterday rebuking Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. One name Rove did not mention? George W. Bush. NPR’s David Welna attended Rove’s speech and asked one attendee, South Dakota national committeewoman Mary Jean Jensen, what her reaction was to that glaring omission:
WELNA: I didn’t hear Karl Rove mention his former boss possibly once during his speech.
JENSEN: Ahh…you know. [Sigh.] That’s sad, but true. But why aren’t we? He’s a great President! As Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
Listen to it:
Geez — even Rove considers Bush to be toxic waste.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:37 amBy all means, let’s mention what he’s accomplished:
January 17th, 2008 at 10:41 amJENSEN: Ahh…you know. [Sigh.] That’s sad, but true. But why aren’t we? He’s a great President! As Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
Sounds to me like Rove did mention everything Bush has accomplished.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:41 amRove is as irrelevent as his book.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:42 amMiss Mary Jean Jensen is a bit of a dipshit, ain’t she? ;)
January 17th, 2008 at 10:42 amIts unfortunate Rove even has the ability to muster an audience to listen to his drivel.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:42 amMan, Republicans referring to Bush is sort of like the Titanic referring to the iceberg…..
January 17th, 2008 at 10:44 amJENSEN: Ahh…you know. [Sigh.] That’s sad, but true. But why aren’t we? He’s a great President!
I’ll have whatever she’s taking!
January 17th, 2008 at 10:48 amHerr Karl can still instill fear in the faithful…..they believe his lies. If there was justice he would be in prison.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:49 amAs Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
I know, they could talk about the Mission that he Accomplished.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:50 amDuring his speech rove mentioned:
“Senator Clinton’s name was on the ballot, and none of her principal opponents were,” Mr. Rove said. “Fifty-five percent of the people turned out and voted for her. … But 236,723 people turned out in the Democratic primary to vote for ‘uncommitted.’ Think about that. She’s running against nobody, and ‘nobody’ gets 40 percent of the vote.” ”
ha ha
kind of reminds me of this:
Republican senator loses to dead rival in Missouri
November 8, 2000
(CNN) — The late Gov. Mel Carnahan collected enough votes to beat out incumbent Republican Sen. John Ashcroft for the U.S. Senate seat from Missouri.
The incumbent Ashcroft was left running against a dead man after his opponent, the popular sitting governor, died in a plane crash on October 16. By that time, it was too late to remove Carnahan’s name from the ballot.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:52 amKarl Rove gave a speech?
And people came? And listened? What a shock.
If I were a Republican, I’d tar and feather his fat ass for destroying my Party. And that’s just for starters.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:56 am11 yeah, thier rhetoric is starting to sound hollow now……even whiney. They really have nothing left do they?
January 17th, 2008 at 10:57 amWhat?
Turdblossom didn’t mention the ‘Nothing Accomplished’ tour by Bush?
My goodness, this tour cost taxpayers nearly $100 Billion, allowed Bush to physically ‘rattle swords’ while rattling at Iranian Bogeymen.
I’ll submit that the ‘Nothing Accomplished’ tour was Bush at his best.
January 17th, 2008 at 10:57 amIf I were a Republican, I’d tar and feather his fat ass for destroying my Party. And that’s just for starters.
Comment by Daddy-O
but you seem fairly intelligent and capable of thinking for yourself. Probably the difference don’t ya think?
January 17th, 2008 at 10:58 amI think those who dismiss Rove out of hand as irrelevant are forgetting an important element…the religious right. The ones who think Huckabee and Romney are good candidates because of their “values.” They haven’t learned anything from the Bush presidency because they live in denial about it, just like in every other aspect of reality.
It’s not time to get complacent thinking the Republican machine is irrelevant; the Democratic party needs to get its act together and form a unified front, or the Republican’s ace in the hole will reign supreme again.

that 40% for uncommitted was pretty good for a grass/netroots maneuver… of course he wouldn’t mention THAT part…
January 17th, 2008 at 11:04 ami’m with religiarchy on that – rove is not irrelevant, nor is he gone…
a democratic president and congress are not assured…
January 17th, 2008 at 11:06 amIF we have an election at all…
That makes sense: Bush, Voldemort. Same thing. But, don’t mention their names.
January 17th, 2008 at 11:15 amJENSEN: Ahh…you know. [Sigh.] That’s sad, but true. But why aren’t we? He’s a great President! As Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
Someone is definitely at max koolaide saturation level…….
January 17th, 2008 at 11:16 amHe’s a great President! As Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
Hey, someone wants to be on the Colbert Report.
January 17th, 2008 at 11:20 amFred; if there were justice, KKK Rove would have been hung after his Nuremberg trial.
January 17th, 2008 at 11:29 amTweedle dee without his tweedle dumb?
January 17th, 2008 at 11:31 amOh my God!!! Is there a rift? Are they on the outs? Is there trouble in paradise?

Comment by John Kerry — January 17, 2008 @ 11:38 am
Ah, I see you got lost on your way to Redstate and blundered in here accidentally, as you often do. No, we don’t consider this earthshaking, we consider it amusing. We’re as deserving of entertainment as anybody else, and these neocons provide us with a never-ending supply.
Now, to get back on your way, just exit to the right…
January 17th, 2008 at 11:53 amJohn Kerry is another failing troll. grade for first post this thread is a D-
You’re gonna have to do better than that.
January 17th, 2008 at 11:54 amYeah, you’re damn right rove won’t mention bush…rove is not dumb. Notice that all the things repubs have been saying for 8 years are suddenly not being mentioned……mitt is now an advocate for jobs……heh pretty damn funny if you ask me.
January 17th, 2008 at 12:02 pmHe’s a great President! As Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
“And don’t step on my rosey glasses or pop the bubble I live in.”
January 17th, 2008 at 12:04 pmMary Jean, sweetheart — the reason Rove is spending his energy on bashing the Dems and avoiding the record of his ex-boss is because an overwhelming majority of Americans aren’t real thrilled with Bush and his “accomplishments” of getting us involved in a Middle East quagmire, driving our debt into the stratosphere, and handing out tax cuts that most of us never even felt (and that’s just a partial list!).
If you would pay a little attention to the world around you, you would see that even in South Dakota, while approval for the president in this red state is above the national average, the majority STILL disapprove of the job he is doing. Do you really want to sabotage the chances of your Republicans running for re-election by tying them with Bush?
January 17th, 2008 at 12:06 pmKarl Rove is nothing more than a lying, cheating, racist, who hates people based on race, and party. He points his fat fingers at people like Hillary and Bill Clinton, but fat boy forgot he lied to a federal grand jury. Liar, Liar, pants on fire.
January 17th, 2008 at 12:07 pmAs Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.
Yes, loud and clear, day in and day out, mention the war, the deficit, the economy, the mortgage meltdown, the vanishing ice caps and glaciers, keep up the steady flow of ‘accomplishments’.
See ya in November…
January 17th, 2008 at 12:09 pmSay wasnt it Turd Blossom that ratted out Scooter?
January 17th, 2008 at 12:23 pmIt’s not “torture” if Karl Rove is the guy getting waterboarded. Trust me.
January 17th, 2008 at 12:39 pmRove who?
Cheers,
January 17th, 2008 at 2:07 pm“As Republicans, we’ve got to be mentioning his name and what he’s accomplished.”
As in Worst pResident in history, and the absolute disasters that he has accomplished…YES, we do want you mentioning and reminding people what a criminal they have mistakingly let steal and cheat his way into office.
But alas even KKKarl can’t bring himself to utter his foul name.
Buck Fush
January 17th, 2008 at 2:27 pmYes Jensen, Get your bretheren to shout, no EXHALT Heir Fuhrer’s name from on high. SPew forth your ragged old tales of how he wowed em at the Convention in ‘04. Talk about what he has done ans is doing in/for Iraq, and how he makes our service men and women pay the price. Good job hun.
January 17th, 2008 at 9:25 pmYou people must be scared of your own shadows. Have you bothered to read an approval poll of Bush in the last three years?
Ever since 2004, Rove has failed in everything he’s tried. Schiavo…Social Security ‘reform’…Katrina and FEMA…2006 elections, and Rove’s own private math…
He is gone. He helped Bush get less than fifty percent in 2000, and barely OVER fifty percent in 2004…and he DID win, but both elections were stolen…
He is out to pasture now. He and his religious fanatics can’t touch us. The country came back to its senses, finally, and Rove will be seen for nothing more than the DEMISE of the Republican Party as it was once known.
Get a GRIP.
