The Senate passed a revised defense policy bill today “that authorizes a 3.5 percent pay raise for troops while sidestepping a veto showdown with President Bush over whether the Iraqi government should compensate victims of state-sponsored abuse during the Saddam Hussein-era. The 91-3 vote sends the $696 billion measure to Bush for his expected signature.”
More money, more war, endless grief and destruction, so proud, I salute you…..8-p

January 22nd, 2008 at 7:16 pmwe voted them in on a platform of ending the atrocities, and they’re not doing much of anything… tells me they’re all in on the great global wealth transfer and the grand plan for our over-populated planet…
January 22nd, 2008 at 7:25 pmSo the troops get a 3.5% raise and KBR gets a 50% raise?
January 22nd, 2008 at 7:29 pmThanks Dems.
How about a 3.5% raise for the troops , because we’re in the process of bringing them home ; all of them to be home by 6 months , tops , Dems ?
You spineless bunch of scumbags……………
January 22nd, 2008 at 7:38 pmI would have rather seen them getting their much needed pay raise and bring them home.
Check how your congress-critter voted and vote accordingly in the primaries. If we can’t get them out in the primaries, there is always next time. I for one, am darn sure not voting republican.
We need to get rid of some spineless rogue jellyfish that sting their own base.
January 22nd, 2008 at 8:06 pmYeah, Iraq doesn’t have the money or resources to compensate victims. Not.
I would also think compensating the victims would further legitimize the notion that Saddam was a brutal dictator, who needed to go.
January 22nd, 2008 at 8:18 pmWhile Congress continues to throw money at the military the economy is on the verge of complete collapse. Time to end the Iraq Fiasco before our nation is bankrupted.

January 22nd, 2008 at 8:26 pmThe inherent problem for some of our troops is that there won’t be a “next time” for them ……………
I didn’t voe for this, did you? They ALL need to go–except for the 3 who voted against it. Anybody know who they were?
January 22nd, 2008 at 9:03 pmAs I remember it, Iraq has so much oil that they not only can pay to compensate victims, but that their oil would make so much money it would pay for the entire cost of the war.

Study: False Statements Preceded War
By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
January 22, 2008 10:13 PM EST
“The study counted 935 false statements in the two-year period. It found that in speeches, briefings, interviews and other venues, Bush and administration officials stated unequivocally on at least 532 occasions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or was trying to produce or obtain them or had links to al-Qaida or both.”

Let’s recap the elections of CHANGE 2006:
~ Bring the troops home… INCOMPLETE!
~ Oversight WITH accountability… INCOMPLETE!
~ Repeal the Patriot Act… INCOMPLETE!
~ Restore the Constitution… INCOMPLETE!
With so many INCOMPLETES on their score card, how any of them expect to be reelected in CHANGE 2008 is beyond me.
IF WE THE PEOPLE desire CHANGE, then maybe we should CHANGE WHO WE THE PEOPLE ELECT!
The Elections of CHANGE 2008 are a Congressional Job Performance Review, and as of today, INCOMPLETED PROMISES outweigh accomplishments.
