Well, this sucks! Where’s valiant venus (aka mighty aphrodite) to boast about Fred Thomas as president?
Has she been banned? Or is she just out on another Neo Nazi anti-immigrant rally?

  5. gummitch says:

This will be a bitter pill for at least one of our old trolls, who was blathering on about what a fine fine conservative Fred was, just last summer. She never did explain what was so fine about the old fool, but I’m sure she’s sobbing into her vodka & tonic right now.

  12. Jackie says:

Tweety is crying as he loved Fred. Fred came in like the last hope of the Republican Party. Once he stepped in the race it’s been down hill all the way. Now I know he regrets giving up his sweet job on Law/Order. Where can an old man who can’t remember what happen yesterday get a job. He might find it hard being a Lobbyist as he still thinks
Nixon is President. Will Rudy the cross dresser be next to throw in his silk stockings and just go around the country lying about how he saved NYC all by himself from the terrorist.

No more war mongering, tough talk, from Fred.

Back to acting for ol’ Fred. If that dries up, there’s plenty of money to be made smearing Democrats on Fox News.

    Comment by gummitch — January 22, 2008 @ 2:41 pm

Big time! I never got it with Thompson. I guess if Huck hadn’t shot to prominence Fred would’ve done better. I find Huck scarier than Fred though; fortunately, his losing SC is a body blow from which he is unlikely to recover.

OT, did anyone watch the Dem debate? I heard the fur was flying.

  25. tarazan says:

Freddie:”I was doing fine with my ‘Law & Order’, until I was tricked to get into this race of Flaw & Disorder.I’m not your Ronald Reagan”.

Thompson always liked the idea of being president, he just didn’t like the idea of running for president. And he certainly didn’t like all the extra work it took.

  27. gummitch says:

OT, did anyone watch the Dem debate? I heard the fur was flying.

    Comment by Keltoi — January 22, 2008 @ 2:44 pm

I don’t believe in watching presidential “debates” if I’m not allowed to slap the participants when necessary. My blood pressure is low and I’d like to keep it that way.

  28. gummitch says:

Since Thompson’s base was generally the Reagan Conservative base, my best guess would be that McCain and Huckabee will not benefit, but Romney and Guiliani will. If Guiliani’s “Florida stategy” fails (and there is a good chance it will), Romney appears to be the ultimate beneficiary.

    Comment by good_golly — January 22, 2008 @ 2:44 pm

What is this base? He’s gotten about 12 votes so far and those were probably all pundits. He’s dropping out because NO ONE IS VOTING FOR HIM. Therefore, no one benefits except Keltoi.

Yes, they were lying. This has all long since been refuted by people that were actually present at the time. You’ve posted this crap before and refuse to learn a damn thing.

You can start by knocking off the lies and doing a little reading.

  37. slappy magoo says:

The Writer’s Strike throws my otherwise sure-shot prediction into flux, but:

With the exception of getting back on Law & Order, I’d bet 10 bucks that ol’ Fred’s next big acting gig is in a sh!tty comedy…playing the President.

Because you see…that…that’d be funny…according to some dopey producer.

And it will also prove that Republicans have integrity until its financially expedient for them to not have it.

All lies and all long since refuted, especially the part about swift boaters being present. All you can do is keep posting the same link to the same lies, while I could go on all day posting links to all the people who have disproven those lies. You obviously won’t look at anything but that single location and their lies.

    WARNING!!!
You’ve just witnessed a troll trifecta!
    1) Off Topic (John Kerry; the thread is about Thompson)
    2) Strawman (bashing John Kerry)
    3) Ridiculous accusations (”us” insulting the troops)

Please be advised that continuous subjection to good golly’s posts may result in atrophy of the brain (i.e. Limbaugh Listeners).
Symptoms may include “dittoheaditis” (nodding your head in unison to whatever a NeoCon says).

    Comment by hellinabucket — January 22, 2008 @ 2:46 pm

Thompson reminded me of Perot in some ways, in that he wasn’t really interested in running to begin with. He was just interested in getting his face out there and grabbing a few headlines. With his half-assed effort at running for president, I fear that he would have been a less than stellar president.

    leftside annie,

but, as you’ll clearly notice, TP just ran a headline suggesting that, because thompson cancelled his appearance at the debate, he hasn’t the ‘toughness’ to face al qaeda (as ailes had suggested).

now that thompson clearly had other motivations for cancelling his appearance, will TP retract its prejudicial claim?

Please, darlaloonie, the white House has been nothing but a front for the rape of the treasury and enrichment of arms dealers for 7 years. TP is needed to pursue an agenda of destroying the GOP before it destroys the USA.

  72. darladoon says:

Please, darlaloonie, the white House has been nothing but a front for the rape of the treasury and enrichment of arms dealers for 7 years. TP is needed to pursue an agenda of destroying the GOP before it destroys the USA

and to do so, TP must make false and/or prejudicial claims.

i’ve clearly exposed the error, as you’ll see above.

  73. Ret. Col. Jack Ripper says:

I still remember Russert and Matthews breathlessly talking about his “manliness” and his “magnetism.” Matthews said he could “almost smell the Aqua Velva” whatever the hell that means. They had major mancrushes on ole’ Fred.

Best thing about Fred slinking off to take another nap: this will give a big boost to Huckelberry. Huckelberry is now the only guy left for bible-thumping religious fanatics! And, Darlaloon evidently holds TP to a very high standard. In Darlaloon’s tortured mind, TP SHOULD be able to tell the future.

  74. KYJurisDoctor says:

It is a SAD day for REAL Conservatives as Fred Thompson drops out. Maybe, he’ll win by dropping out and coming back as John McCain’s Veep candidate. We certainly don’t need Mitt (FALSE Conservative) Romney or Rudy “9/11″ Giuiliani.

    Comment by darladoon — January 22, 2008 @ 5:47 pm

You really do need to work on your reading comprehension skills.

The headline was meant as a spoof of FoxNews’ spin.

That can be clearly noticed by anyone with as much as an ounce of gray matter, something you clearly lack.

now that thompson clearly had other motivations for cancelling his appearance, will TP retract its prejudicial claim?

There is nothing to retract because it is not a claim, as anyone who read beyond the headline -anyone with a long enough attention span- would have quickly noticed.

if not, then what is TP’s real function (and tax payer funded) in a democracy? to pursue an agenda, or inform its users?

Spare us your faux outrage. Nobody is forcing you to stay here, and you are in no position to be correcting anyone.
