Those criteria are pretty selective, it must be admitted… I’m sure the HDC only chose the most damning statistics to include.

    But… they ARE damning.

And pretty basic things to consider, most of them.

  5. toasterhead Says:

Why would they put that out as a gif? Surely someone in the Democratic Caucus has a copy of Acrobat…

  6. Dr. Matt Says:

Yeah, but, but, but Clinton got a BJ.

  7. RUCerious Says:

Not exactly the best way to start a new century, now, is it?

  8. tablogloid Says:

    Snrff. Tech snobbery.

Have you ever looked at politicians’ websites? If they’re close to a 1990 design they’re high end.

Here is the link to their website with this graphic

The original appears to be an embedded table. The GIF was supplied by TP.

  12. GSD Says:

Yes, but these deficient numbers are made up by Bush in the large number of human deaths he’s been responsible for.

    So it all evens out.

Yes, blame Bush, but also whole GOP. They had the power and this is what they did.

I have a parting gift for the puta POTUS.

I will dog ear the page that begins the description of the ninth level of hell, just so he doesn’t get lost looking for the part about the goat.

    Jebby says thanks.

  23. Badger Says:

Yeah…Bush’s record and legacy are pathetic…BUT…Those republicans running for Bush’s job will say..” George Bush is NOT RUNNING for ANYTHING….and lets all look towards the FUTURE”.

I think the American voters are too smart to let them off the hook so easily, but the press needs to ask them what they would do DIFFERENTLY, and what they have learned for Bush’s mistakes.

  24. bilbobaggins Says:

Way to go Bush. That’s one hell of a report card. If my kid brought it home he or she would be grounded for the rest of their life.

It’s really too bad that is not on the front page of every major newspaper in the nation.

How about we all contribute to a fund to make it a full-page advertisement in every newspaper some Sunday!

Well, I would like to see the RNC come back with a similar report card showing Bush in a favorable light. Unless they lie or cook the books, I doubt it can be done.

  26. Buckie Boy Says:

Heck of a job there Bushie.

    Comment by bilbobaggins — January 23, 2008 @ 6:12 pm

Good point, bilbo. I don’t think it can be done. Not honestly, anyway.

    Oh wait — we’re talking about Republicans, aren’t we…

  28. VerbalKint Says:

    Troll study guide.

  29. VerbalKint Says:

Those criteria are pretty selective, it must be admitted

Is this sarcasm? This looks like a comprehensive list of major indicators of the state of this country.

  30. bilbobaggins Says:

This is great stuff. Just what I need for my few remaining acquaintances who are Republicans. It’s also good reference for future games of “whack a troll”. I made it into a PDF, complete with links and without the horrid colors. I’ll post it somewhere when I get home and let anyone who wants it know where they can get it.

    Comment by VerbalKint — January 23, 2008 @ 6:21 pm

No, Verbal, it wasn’t sarcasm. You’re right, it’s a pretty sound collection of major indicators, as I said.

But there are inevitably ways of looking at the data that wouldn’t be as damning. I don’t think it could ever be shaped to make things look good (at least not honestly) but, for instance, you could state the growth of exports (assuming that exports have grown). This wouldn’t be as valid as demonstrating the widening of the trade deficit (as this chart does) but it would be a fact-based way of making the Bush years look not as sucky.

I just wondered also about the choice of countries used to demonstrate our loss of standing in the world. Are the four chosen, the nations with the biggest shift in opinion? Or are they representative? I don’t know, and part of the game of this kind of stat compilation is to build as strong an argument as possible.

They succeeded. This is a pretty strong argument.

  32. Marie Says:

I have printed this out to distribute to republiscum Bush lovers.
It’s hard to dispute facts, but I am sure they will try.

  33. jerseyboyblue Says:

    worst. “president”. ever.

  34. MapleStreet Says:

    34. Jersey boy:

while I totally agree that Shrub is a disaster of biblical proportions, I have to point out that one of his ancestors was also president (Pierce, not Bush I). And if memory serves me right, that ancestor was the only sitting president to NOT get his party’s nomination for a second term.

Whichever of them win the “worst prez ever”, the prize will be kept in the family.

  35. Veritas Says:

    jerseyboyblue: You nailed it!

  36. Veritas Says:

MapleStreet: No doubt they will share the prize - just like they’ve been sharing the spoils stolen from the american taxpayers for two decades.

  37. ralph the wonder llama Says:

MapleStreet, is that true? GWB is descended from Franklin Pierce?

    That would explain a lot.

  38. Veritas Says:

Bush has single-handedly taken the definition of a Republiscum to a new nadir!

there have been times i would’ve liked to do that in my local paper…

what about copyrights and such? how to get permission to do so?

    anyone?

  40. GL2814 Says:

Gee, let’s hear it for the Chimp. Way to go, Shrub!

No worries, though. You’ll get to go back to Texas when it’s all over, and live a life of luxury on your “working ranch”.

Let them eat cake, right George?!

  41. questioneverything Says:

These people passed math and can use it. What a concept.

  42. Drewsky Says:

And they run and run but they cannot hide under Reaguns.

Bush was enabled by many others, including the republicans in congress. We must saddle them with this report. We need 62 senators, or we’re doomed.

  43. MapleStreet Says:

38 Ralph the Wonder Llama -

Look up G HW Bush on wikipedia. His mother is Barb Bush nee Pierce (Click on Barb Bush). Her father was somebody Pierce who was a publishing magnate. etc. You can follow it back to Pierce the failure as president (Although my opinion is that the wikipedia article goes real easy on Pierce - a president so bad that his own party wouldn’t re-nominate him).

  44. MapleStreet Says:

Gag - of course in the above post I should have said look up Boy George Bush. Of course HIS mother is Barbara, etc.

    More power to him!

  46. Tawdry Says:

The saddest thing is that when he goes crawling back to Crawford, we’re all stuck with his legacy. How does a new president even begin to clean up the mess he left behind.
