  1. Wayne Says:

well, looks like Edwards gets my vote then.

  2. Wilco Says:

    He didn’t even get Cleveland’s mayor’s endorsement.

  3. gummitch Says:

I thought he’d tough it out, regardless of the lack of money or press. But if his Congressional seat is at risk, he’s definitely better off focusing on that. I’ll miss him (and Elizabeth!).

  4. Vet Says:

I respect the man for standing up for his beliefs, despite the politcal fallout, much like the late Paul Welstone.

Hofefully now he’ll be able to bang the IMPEACHMENT drum until his cowardly colleagues wake up!!!

  5. SP Biloxi Says:

    “He didn’t even get Cleveland’s mayor’s endorsement.”

Wow.. Thanks for the info. Bast of luck to Rep. Dennis Kucinich. And thaks Dennis for speaking out and wanting Cheney impeached.

  7. ebbAndflow Says:

I’m still proud to have voted for him (mail-in ballot). A man of conscience!

  8. hellinabucket Says:

Vet, I’m with you. He can push the impeachment issue full time.

  9. katy Says:

thank the man for what he HAS done so far…
he helped set the stage and tone, in my opinion…

and, he may be situating himself for better persue impeachment:

    found earlier on FAST thread…

  10. Wilco Says:

A man of conscience who until now refused to debate anyone for his Congressional seat?

  11. RUCerious Says:

Hoping Edwards will pick up most of his supporters. He may be able to make a difference at the convention in Denver…

  12. Badmoodman Says:

Did Mike Gravel formally dropout or did he skulk off to his van down by the river?

  13. ctalk Says:

He’s dropping out too early, many states haven’t voted yet, but the way the corporate media has treated him the past 4 or so debates I don’t blame him.

  14. Wilco Says:

Kucinich had someone from the Dept of Homeland Security pay a visit to Joe Cimperman, his chief rival to represent The Fighting 10th because Cimperman showed up at Dennis’s office with a camera crew (Dennis wasn’t even there). By all accounts, Cimperman was there for mere seconds, asked if Dennis was in, was told no, and left.
And apparently, that warrants a visit from Homeland Security.

  15. abarts Says:

I admire him for trying. We need more like him. Never surrender, never forget!

  16. espo Says:

a sad day for america when the real change candidate has to drop out because no one knows who he is.

  17. dim wit Says:

This is saddening news. While I had no expectations he would win, the race gave him a national voice.

Hopefully his voice will continue to shape our national policy.

  18. IALib Says:

I admire Congressman Kucinich for being the progressive voice we all need. I would encourage all those folks who supported his presidential bid to support his re-election. The corporate powers that be are trying to take him out. I am sure he will appreciate and $upport you can give.

  19. Buckie Boy Says:

Kucinich & Edwards are the only two who are for the AMERICAN PUBLIC and not being bought out by the CORPORATE LOBBYIST.

Sad that the MSM is picking the candidates that Corporate interests want and not giving the candidates that are the best ones for America any air time.

    Sad, really sad.

    Buck Fush

  20. Bubs Says:

I’m glad that Kucinich stuck with it as long as he did. He’s definitely the candidate who most represented my views and it was good to see him bring these points of views to the presidential race.

I wonder if he would have stuck it out a bit longer if certain networks had not excluded him from the debates. We can pick our own candidates, thank you very much.

Hopefully, he will win re-election to the House and be able to still contribute to the public discourse of important issues.

  21. Yankeluh Says:

I admire Kucinich but am still a bit pissed because he told his supporters in Iowa to back Obama instead of Edwards who is pushing basically the same agenda as Kucinich. Bad idea Dennis.

  22. 2MillionLightYearsToAndromeda Says:

It wasn’t reporter here but yesterday Dennis announced he was filing impeachment charges against President Bush on Monday, when he gives the State of the Union Address.

Kucinich tore it up in the House yesterday saying…

“If impeachment is off the table,…truth is off the table. If truth is off the table then this body is living a lie.” …

  23. missmolly Says:

Geez — another candidate I won’t have a chance to consider when my state FINALLY has its primary in MAY…

  24. phred42 Says:

    That Sux.

Dennis fought the good fight. I think he’ll find other ways to attempt to bring Democracy back to us.

    How about Kucinich replaces Pelosi?

    Dodd replaces Reid?

  25. ctalk Says:

Kucinich was the last best hope for this country. A sad day indeed.

  26. Wilco Says:

One of my co-workers is broken up because Dennis promised him a position in the Department of Peace.

  27. missmolly Says:

Cleveland Rocks, but Kucinich is a nut. Good riddance.

    Comment by good_golly — January 24, 2008 @ 5:04 pm

Care to elaborate? Or does “Kucinich is a nut” translate to “I don’t agree with Kucinich on many issues”?

  28. The Shadow Says:

    Thank God!

Cleveland Rocks, but Kucinich is a nut. Good riddance.

    Comment by good_golly — January 24, 2008 @ 5:04 pm

That you consider this honest, hard-working, forward-thinking man a nut, yet heap praise upon dishonest, lazy, coke-snorting asswipe Bush speaks volumes.

  32. RUCerious Says:

gg, why are you such a Grover Cleveland fan?

  33. Keltoi Says:

Hoping Edwards will pick up most of his supporters. He may be able to make a difference at the convention in Denver…

    Comment by RUCerious — January 24, 2008 @ 4:52 pm

Yeah! That’ll vault Edwards from the mid-teens to the high-teens!

It is a two person race, folks. The question is, what is Edwards price for his support and who between O and HRC has the ability to pay?

  34. bilbobaggins Says:

This is a real shame. If we had a fair and balanced MSM and Kucinich hadn’t been banished from view like they have done with him and with Edwards, I’m fairly sure he would have been in the top tier. But, until we have a system of fair and open elections, one man one vote (not the electoral system), we will continue to only be allowed information on the candidates the political party and the MSM decide for us.

It makes me want to sit down and cry.

  35. ctalk Says:

Corporate friendly polls kept him low all along, this is the fascist secret for destroying true democracy.

  36. RUCerious Says:

And the only one besides Gravel to promise immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
And, on that note, off the wire today:

But a senior member of the Iraqi negotiating team, which has been almost completely appointed, said they would seek to have U.S. troops — who for five years have conducted aggressive combat missions across the country against al-Qaida and other radical Muslim militias — largely confined to their bases.

U.S. troops would have only limited freedom of movement off base under Iraq’s position, leaving only when requested to provide intelligence, air support, equipment and other logistical support, the Iraqi negotiator said.

And we’d need to keep them there, why????

  37. bilbobaggins Says:

    He didn’t even get Cleveland’s mayor’s endorsement.
    Comment by Wilco

So. Did you ever think that maybe the people in Cleveland are a little peeved at him for taking time out to run for President?

Any way you look at it, Kucinich was the one candidate with the best ideas and the best history for voting the way true progressives want our leaders to vote. It’s too bad that he isn’t good looking enough or inspirational enough for the MSM to anoint. Actually, I think they were a little scared of him the same way they are scared of Ron Paul.

  38. bilbobaggins Says:

    I’ll miss him (and Elizabeth!).
    Comment by gummitch

Me too. Elizabeth is one awesome lady and would have made one hell of a first lady.

  39. RUCerious Says:

Yeah! That’ll vault Edwards from the mid-teens to the high-teens!

It is a two person race, folks. The question is, what is Edwards price for his support and who between O and HRC has the ability to pay?

    Comment by Keltoi — January 24, 2008 @ 5:16 pm

Doesn’t matter if he’s in the mid, low or high teens, jackass.
If Clinton and Obama are virtually tied at the convention, he’ll be in the position of determining who the next president will be.
    Focus, dammit!

  40. 2MillionLightYearsToAndromeda Says:

Bradblog dot com is following very closely the recount in New Hampshire sponsored by Dennis Kucinich.

    http://www.bradblog.com/

New Hampshire’s Sec. of State claimed that Dennis Kucinich was happy with the recount when in fact that is not true. He also claimed that the recount shows no evidence of irregularities, which also is not true.

    Odd stuff.

Dennis was problng into the deepest darkest areas of our democracy: Voting Integrity, Corporate Media Power/Censorship, Impeachment.

Its not hard to believe that someone high-up (really high-up) in the food chain simply had enough with the little troublemaker and gave him an ultimatum.

Perhaps filing impeachment charges against Bush was the final straw.

  41. hellinabucket Says:

Perhaps Keltoi hasn’t seen the latest polls coming out of SC. Edwards is gaining. This race is still a 3 person race. The reporting so far on this primary season has shown they speak for themselves and not reflect the actions of the voting public.

  42. Uncle Ho Says:

GiGi; Who’s the nut? I certainly think it’s the one whose theme song is “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. Or Mitt the coward who equates campaigning for daddy with combat duty. Or mr morals 9/11 Rudy, who wears dresses and informs his wife he’s leaving her for his mistress. Or the Taliban candidate who wants to amend the Constitution to reflect Biblical law.

  43. bilbobaggins Says:

A man of conscience who until now refused to debate anyone for his Congressional seat?
    Comment by Wilco

Ok Wilco, we get it that you don’t like Kucinich. But a lot of us here do and I for one am getting tired of your beating this dead horse. Most incumbents don’t debate the people running against them. I’m sure Kucinich had his reasons and I personally don’t care. I still think that he is a man of good conscience and is one of the most inspirational leaders I have ever seen. I truly wish he was given a fair shake in the Presidential race, but since the Democratic Party and the MSM decided he wasn’t it, that’s the way it ended up.

  44. Uncle Ho Says:

Most unfortunate about Kucinich. We need hundreds MORE LIKE him in the White House, and in both chambers of Congress.

  45. bilbobaggins Says:

Corporate friendly polls kept him low all along, this is the fascist secret for destroying true democracy.
    Comment by ctalk

I don’t think it had anything to do with the polling outfits. It had to do with the fact that most people don’t even know who Kucinich is or what he stands for. And why is that? Because of the almost complete media blackout on his candidacy the same way they are blacking out Edwards. If you think we have any choice in choosing our leaders, you need to think again.

  46. 2MillionLightYearsToAndromeda Says:

    Kucinich.

They can ridicule him. Censor him. Pretend he doesn’t exist.

But he planted the seeds…non-profit healthcare for all, strength thru peace, people before profits and accountability before the law even when its most painful.

Those seeds have already taken root in the minds of millions of Americans. Nothing can stop them from growing.

Not intimidation, humiliation, torture. The truth cannot be stopped.

Eventually, when this country regains its sanity, and it won’t be soon and it won’t be easy, those ideas will be THE ideas.

And everyone will wonder why it took so long.

    Thanks.

Dude…. Clinton has 200 delegates… she needs over 4000 to win. This race hasn’t even started.

  52. nycbassist Says:

Shame on the rest of the candidates for not protesting his exclusion by big corporation media from the debates. It’s obvious, they really don’t want their agenda influenced by the only TRUE progressive in the bunch. I’m positive Kucinich was well aware of his chances of winning from the start. His goal is to shape the Democratic platform. This is the only reason they didn’t let him in the debates, and it is shameful.

  53. Evil Spaniard Says:

Just imagine the face of the Republicans laughing at Kucinich when he earns a Nobel Prize by 2014, as Gore has done. They’ll be green of envy.

We lost a true patriot’s run for the white house today…The only one who was truly for the constitution and we the people….The only man worthy of my vote….What to do now is the question..Hillery and Obama will never get my vote since they are corprate whore’s and status quo….It is a sad day indeed..

The media and big business won this time by silencing Kucinich’s bid to speak the truth and bring justice back to our white house..Whie I am on the subject there were other’s that were silenced..

Maybe my neighbor’s are right,”why bother, you can’t change anything for the good anyway”…Since we are controled by druggies, drunk’s gangster’s and whores why bother untill they have stolen everything they can and we are left with nothing ….My dear friend said there would be a revolution, where is it.? When will the sleeping public wake up and boot all these dreadful people out?….When?…Thank you Dennis for all you do…Blessings

  58. Briseadh na Faire Says:

Chalk up a win for Corporate America.

But, even more than that, it’s indicative of the failure of American Public Education. The people voting today are not the kids being screwed over by Bush’s “Know Chylde’s Behynde Left.”

We teachers failed to teach the kids how to think. How to see past the bull$hit and make informed, rational choices.

Corporate America, thanks in large part to TV, trained them better; to be non-thinking consumers of the trivial; to be entertained instead of informed.

I’m still voting for Kucinich, even if I have to write his name in. After election day, I’ll be able to say I voted for the best person for the job.

  59. Witch1 Says:

Oh yeah, F! Ob,Hi,Ed for going ahead with the NV MSNBC debate… they’d rather it not be broadcast on public airwaves (which it wasn’t) than let DK blemish their corporate-interest and fear-mongering hypnosis session.
Write DK to support indep run…if not…Heath may have a point.

  62. Sabyen91 Says:

“36. Kucinich is popular on the North Coast because he is a very strong labor union supporter; it is similar to Youngstown’s support for that criminal James Trafficant even after he was indicted (first RICO then tax evasion as I recall), and even after he was convicted on the tax evasion. You can be a nut and still get elected in NE Ohio, you just have to be very pro-union to make it work. This does not translate, however, onto the National scene.

    Comment by good_golly — January 24, 2008 @ 5:29 pm”

That is some weak sh!t. You just called Kucinich a criminal without even talking about Kucinich. Pathetic dittohead.

I am still planning to show up in my precinct with the intention to caucus for Dennis. If anything, so as to challenge the other caucus goers into defending the Constitution, warmongers and Corporatists. If there aren’t enough of us there for Dennis and no one can convince me to cross over, I’ll walk!

America deserves a President who has the vision enough to understand the consequences of the decisions s/he is embarking on, NOT a President that regrets the consequences of the decisions made. The top three aren’t that former but instead, the latter.

THE BAROMETER OF FUTURE PERFORMANCE IS IN PAST PERFORMANCE!

Bless you Congressman Kucinich. You were the only one I would have voted for - I would write in your name but they would probably steal my vote for AIPAC hillary. You were the only one not owned by the talmudjews and corporations.

It is our loss that the progessive blogosphere did not get behind you - you are a greater man than ron paul who refuses to use his campaign chest for a recount.

Keep on fighting for the impeachment of cheney.

70% of this Nation want to be done with this Presidency already.

OVER 50% of this Nation insist on Impeachment hearings.

Almost 50% of this Nation feel Impeachment is warranted.

30% of this Nation believe in the Bush Administration.

Now, which group was Dennis speaking for?

    .

  70. toasterhead Says:

It couldn’t have been that perhaps the vast majority of Americans simply don’t want America to change into what Kucinich’s idea of America is…nahhhh…that couldn’t be it.

    Comment by O. Bigfoot — January 25, 2008 @ 8:09 am

If you mean the vast majority of American corporate executives, you’re dead-on. Kucinich’s idea of America would’ve cut into their bonus packages severely, which is why he was excluded from every media outlet but Democracy Now.

As for the vast majority of Americans, that’s rather debatable. They can’t support an idea if the media conglomerates don’t allow it to be heard.

  71. theswan Says:

Dennis tried to inject truth to power but power always wins in America.
Thanks Dennis. Some canidate could use your input but don’t count on it from the MSM canidates.
