Young uses economy as excuse to push for Alaska drilling.

Rep. Don Young (R-AK) yesterday wrote to Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) and “said legislation to delay the sale of land in Alaska for oil and gas exploration would hinder the U.S. economy.” Young, notorious for his earmarks, said he was “disappointed” by Markey’s efforts to block oil and gas exploration in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.”It’s bewildering when you consider the fact that we are continuing to import domestic energy and it’s harming our economy,” Young claimed.

Sure, fix the economy by making Exxon-Mobile richer……

Sure has done wonders for the economy lately hasn’t it?

  3. Frosty Cupcake says:

If they started today, the first drop of oil wouldn’t be available for many years *and* all the oil in Alaska is a drop in the bucket compared to our overall consumption.

I’ll swear, these corporatists won’t be happy until every species is wiped out and every tree is cut down everywhere.

These idiots are driving the human race to extinction. If we don’t break the lip-lock on the big oil teat soon, our children and our grandchildren are in for hardships that can’t be imagined. The well will likely run dry in this century and the short term mentality of these clowns does nothing to avert that pending disaster. Between now an then there will be escalating numbers of world wars over that dwindling natural resource.

Well, where does oil and natural gas come from? The decomposing bodies of extinct species, right? Perhaps this is just part of Exxon-Mobil’s 65-million year plan.

Let’s go for a vacation in the economy…

I don’t know if more oil is going to help with the real economy, the distribution of wealth we’ve developed.

“we are continuing to IMPORT DOMESTIC energy” – What?

  9. Roger_Roger says:

It is bewildering that anyone would block us from harvesting our resources seeing as though we then need to import them from places we don’t want to be. Maybe the dems actually want us to stay in Iraq since they won’t let us touch our own energy resources.

    US economy trumps the world.

Since when has this been OK?

  23. MWG says:

What’s bewildering to me is how ANYONE with a conscience can even THINK of sacrificing an endangered animals’ habitat for the purposes of maintaining those billion=dollar profits of all those oil company CEOs.

It’s one thing to be ambitious and enterprising…it’s quite another to be avaricious to the point of blindness to all else. We have a responsibility of stewardship to the other species that inhabit this planet…not just to our wallets…

This kind of GREED turns my stomach….
