thing is. you have got to read it with a certain filter. when they say the country they mean powerful individuals and certian groups. lincoln was hated by these people. not “the people”.

I think Bush’s base, apart from the wealthy cronies, corporate pirates and thieves and war profiteers is down to ‘the dumbest of the dumb’.
I’ve checked in on Fox News a couple of times recently just out of curiosity and I get the impression they’ve really aimed their sights noticeably lower recently. It’s amazing considering the bar was set so low to begin with.

Facts are no barrier, or so it seems. The backgrounds are absolutely opposite. Lincoln came from a dirt poor background. Bush’s grandfather was a United States Senator and his father was a President. Bush made his way into Yale on legacy exemption. Lincoln did it the old-fashioned way: hard work. Lincoln was arguably our greatest President ever. Bush is arguably our worst President ever. So, there you have it.

I find it interesting that Bush… in his own words… compares himself to someone that was “hated when leaving office”.

The fact it’s not true that Lincoln was “hated” when he ran for reelection, and only “left office” in a casket, suggest he do a bit more reading, but the acknowledgment of being “hated” is quite telling.

When Lincoln went to the bankers to fund the war, they wanted to charge him up to 30% interest. He told them to get stuffed and printed the greenbacks instead.

He also refused to allow them to loot the South when it became apparent the North would win the war and made sure the south would be able to rejoin the Union on more equal terms than they wanted. The international bankers who started the war by financing the South in their secession and in the war itself, but who also would profit by their NY bankers looting the South when the war was finished, punished him for this, and he was killed.

If Bush wanted to be Lincoln, he would nationalize the Fed and print his own money instead of borrowing it. He might end up like Lincoln though.
And so long as Cheney is VP, we do not want to see this.
