Fmr Bush aide refuses to speak to students on the record.
Bush’s former adviser Meghan O’Sullivan, “who played a key behind-the-scenes role in implementing Bush’s controversial Iraq policies,” canceled a speech at Indiana University on Tuesday “after the student newspaper refused to agree to demands that the public event would be off the record.” Sullivan claimed she was ill, but was later seen speaking off-the-record at a private dinner with professors and “campus leaders.”

January 25th, 2008 at 12:08 pmOur first clues were when the liars (Republican synonym) refused to be put under oath when providing testimony and/or were speaking in private, unrecorded, etc. As far as I’m concerned, if they refuse to be put under oath, then they should be held in contempt and pitched in jail. Otherwise, their testimony is meaningless.

I’ve heard of people speaking “off the record” when talking to journalists privately, but this is the first time I have heard somebody request that of a public speech. What was she going to say at the end? “Thank you all for coming, and as you leave, forget everything you heard me say”???
I suspect that what she really meant was, “I’ll come and make a speech, but I plan to lie a lot, and I don’t want to be held legally accountable for anything I say.”

She’s obviously caught between a rock and a hard place. Wanting to please her fascist bosses and spin the lie further but not wanting to have prison time in her future for “aiding and abetting” the illegalities. Pretty insightful if you ask me and illustrative of the level of desperation within this administration. They know the GOP is all but totally irrelevant and their prospects for 08 are slim to none….they’re trying to pull out all the stops now.
The damage is already done to the GOP and their cadre of morons running as candidates have become a national laughingstock at this point. There’s no way they will ever see the white house in 08.

And the deeper meaning is that they’ve finally discovered YouTube and are realizing that we will be recording what they say and using it against them when they contradict themselves later.
It’s a sad commentary on the state of our democracy when the reaction to this by those in power is not to be more truthful in public, but to refuse public speaking altogether.

If Hillary is the chosen one by the Republicans who are tampering with the voting machines and Obama loses the nomination, be prepared for an Indy to come out of the woodwork to oppose her. It still won’t fragment the vote to the extent that some old geyser who’s so senile that he believes that “war is peace” could ever win the white house. McInsane’s “bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” charade exploded in his face and tanked his chances long ago. There is no way to irradicate that song and tactic from the hearts and minds of americans who loathe war and desire peace. MC CAIN IS THE WAR CANDIDATE - be not fooled.
I think it’s time to for someone to dig deeply into McCain’s intimate ties with the military war complex and/or war profiteers. I’d bet there’s a credible connection there if we dig deeply enough. Someone who was tortured personally during an illegal war does not become a war monger without it benefitting his bank account!
