    Is it really that much?

All the more reason to jail the entire lot of criminals from this administration – it’ll save money if we buy in bulk.

Damn, Crooked ex-Attorney Generals are expensive twits speakers.

How much does an honest one cost?

  6. Guido OBGYN Lover says:

Perhaps they can arrest him when he arrives. He seems to keep escaping the long arms of the law.

    FLUSH!

  8. Xisithrus says:

I would like to see a transcript of that speech. Not that I’m an AG fan, but just what he has to say that could possibly be worth 30k

Save the $4k – Pervez Musharraf will provide the security for half the price!

That’s not payment for the speech. They’re giving him $30,000 if he promises not to torture any of the students.

  12. ralph the wonder llama says:

Perhaps if the University informs the former AG that his speech will indeed be “on the record”. it would give him an excuse to cancel it.

If that’s the case, shouldn’t they be paying him $30,000 NOT to speak?

Aaack. I went to WashU — why would they schedule this dufus?

  17. LividLib says:

$30,000 worth of lottery tickets would be a far better investment.

  18. LividLib says:

$4000 is peanuts for security. I wonder if it’s good enough at all.

    let’s hope not.

No, he charges double for that.

May I assume he is paying the $4G’s and not the American taxpayer?

I appreciate the honesty with which Frank M displays his chilling hatred of free speech.

For all of his flaws and limitations (and they are legion) Frank M deserves credit for proudly proclaiming his fascist beliefs.

    Maybe not.

What is Gonzo going to say? “I don’t recall.”

Is it time to break out the dog $hit cream pies?

  27. Zimzone says:

Hmmm, Gozo’s speaking fees appear to have dropped by 25%.

Wasn’t he to get $40K at a Fla. school? I guess it’s a sign of economic issues.

Why are American Universities allowing a known liar & torture supporter a platform? What could he possibly say that would be true?

    I know, lots of questions…

I know what you mean. First Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and now Gonzo. It’s a good thing Atilla the Hun is dead.

At least Mahmoud was funny with Iran being a no-gay zone. Gonzalez is gonna be:

I was going to say something, but I don’t think I can recall…

  30. deebaser says:

30,000 is a pretty fair fee for a speaker. I was involved with events planning at college and 10 years ago that’d be a reasonable rate.

For an unpopular former AG though? I wonder who approved that!?

  31. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Nice one, Juan.

What exactly is Abu G going to talk about? He can’t even recall his own address, apparently.

  32. sacopenapa says:

Gonzom like Rove, should be BEHIND BARRS!!!!! NOT SPEAKING IN PUBLIC! WATERBOARD MUKASEY!

  39. Hug The Moon says:

It’s all part of he life cycle of corruption. The book and lecture tours after they are spent as gov’t employed operatives. This way an executive activist maintains their livelyhoods, reputation and mission operation.

The people are waking up. What was slow wake up is snowballing into full avalanche. We are reaching a tipping point when the mountains of truth will exceed cognitive dissonance and party loyalty. ROn Paul supporters are already chasing hannity down the streets. These RP republicans are a canary in the coalmine.

Seems like there is mutual benefit to both progressives and conservatives in pressing the establishment for unanswered questions.

    It’s coming.

  40. Nick says:

I assumed they were a satellite of Regent University.

I also went to WashU, and have to defend it. It’s not a conservative school by an stretch of the imagination. But the college Republicans are a very well organized minority, and the administration is forced to through them a bone every year. They have a series of these speakers, and most of them are really great, but like I said, they have to throw the crazies a bone. It will be just like it was when Ann Coulter came. Everybody gets all excited about it. But ultimately very few will people attend, and he will have to suffer the shame of only having a few people in the huge space that they use.

  41. Nick says:

Sorry, I suck and messed up my italics, and furthermore managed to misspell “throw”.

  42. rat618 says:

For those of us who attended Wash U in the late 60’s when the campus was a hotbed for Viet Nam war protests, this is a sad state of affairs that someone like Gonzales will be speaking to today’s students. What can he possibly say or be asked that is of any significance? All of the questions will be screened for his approval and just like any other Republican everything will be done to make it a very warm environment for him. Only if it was a completely open dialogue in which questions could be freely asked and answered would I approve.
