SOTU: Bush Has Pushed Aside Action On Democracy And Human Rights

Bush said: “We have also changed the way we deliver aid by launching the Millennium Challenge Account. This program strengthens democracy, transparency, and the rule of law in developing nations, and I ask you to fully fund this important initiative.”

FACT — MILLENNIUM CHALLENGE PROGRAM WILL SOON BE BANKRUPT: “President Bush’s signature foreign-assistance program is likely to run out of money this year, leaving in the lurch several poor countries that have labored to meet its strict eligibility standards, according to aid officials. Mr. Bush introduced the Millennium Challenge program in 2002 as a new approach to fix the perceived failures of overseas-development assistance.” [Wall Street Journal, 1/22/07]

FACT — BUSH IGNORED DEMOCRACY DURING TRIP TO SAUDI ARABIA: During his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Bush didn’t meet with “one Saudi dissident or political activist, much less a democrat.” [Newsweek, 1/14/08]

I guess that Adolph Hitler would have urged that the French people, the Dutch people and the Belgium people to have been patient with the German Nazi occupation in the 1940s. The Bush gangster regime has illegally and criminally occupied Afghanistan and Iraq longer than the Hitler and the German Nazis occupied Belgium, France and the Netherlands…

We only care about democracy in strategically unimportant places like Burma.

But Egypt or Saudi Arabia? Well, those regimes are A-OK by us.

Talking about Democracy, things are strange here. I was in CA and now temporarily stay in a small island “Taiwan”, which next to China. There is an only English radio station in here, but they are really aloof when anytime listeners confronting them by questions or suggestions. We left opinions or suggestions on their forums but no one authoritative came to answer those questions. furthermore, when ppl criticized the DJs there, even some listeners jumped out attacking ppl for the DJs with many obscene languages, and a DJ even ridiculously banned a listener who criticized his program only because that listener thought he should cut the commercials short. I have never heard any radio programs need their DJs to do commercials during the shows. They read the lines of the commercials. “what place has a special sales today, or go some computer store which has 70% discount today…..” I mean, they don’t have anything to talk with the listeners? there are commercials break, why those DJs still need to read commercials?? They are too business driving. That DJ is very arrogant and usually ignore listeners’ suggestions. He is an ABC, which means “American born Chinese”. Nowadays there are many ppl like his condition in Taiwan. They are arrogant because they can speak Mandarin and English fluently at the same time. Some ppl even modified “star wars” and “Johnny Depp”’s pictures on the forums there. I said that’s plagiarism, but they mocked me. They are used to illegal copies!
I wrote e-mails to “star wars” website but I don’t think they will take any actions on it. It’s too far.
I really can’t agree with their low-grade behaviors.
