McCain, Clinton win Florida primaries.»

CNN and AP announced that Sen. John McCain (R-FL) will win Florida’s Republican primary election. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) also won the state’s Democratic primary, although she “will receive no delegates to the national convention” because of the state’s “scheduling dispute with the national party.”

Cue Clinton’s histrionics about the delegates not being awarded for Florida and Michigan in 3, 2, 1…

There is a fascinating take on McCain written before the vote count by DHinMI over at the DailyKos. Well worth reading.

Good to see Giuliani getting his butt kicked. I’m not a fan of McCain, but he’s a much better candidate than Giuliani.

  6. Xisithrus Says:

Its hard to believe what with El Rush Bos rants against McCain have had no effect.

Rudy should be dropping out any day.

Yeah, Florida was his Swan Song. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy.

If the Democratic party caves into the Clinton machine and allow the MI and FL delegates…I will be a Bloomberg voter.

If the Democratic party caves into the Clinton machine and allow the MI and FL delegates…

I haven’t heard anything but scuttlebut on this. Do you have info to share? I would like to read about any behind the scenes doings.

  11. Fish Bone Says:

That’s the truth Sabyen. If Billary Clinton wins the nomination after their shady gotcha campaign and the MI/FL nonsense I’m only supporting local Ds for local offices.

Half my distaste for their campaign comes strait from Bill’s input. With out Bill she would never have gotten this far and he can barely mention her as he goes around stumping supposedly for her campaign.

    It’s still all about Bill.

  12. Sabyen91 Says:

Darn right, Fish Bone, Bill Clinton has made a huge ass of himself lately.

  14. robertoroberto Says:

Yeah, apparently Guilliani is behind him 911 percent!

  15. Jeremy Henderson Says:

So Hillary goes back on her promise not to campaign in Florida, and is the only Democrat who doesn’t remove her name from the ballot in Michigan, and now that it looks like she’ll need them to win she’s desperate to stand up for the rights of the folks in those two states.

And some people still can’t understand why even some of us on the Left can’t bloody stand her?

  16. justme Says:

Hrrrmph, I honestly read that pic as the Ronald McDonald Library at first glance. Eh, what’s the difference, one clown, another clown…

  17. rehbock Says:

Guliani’s endorsement is one more reason not to support “more wars” McCain.

Yeah, it is amazing that people are surprised when we, on the left, find Hillary to be a triangulating, machine thug.

    Thanks!

A more visible reason not to want Hillary as the Dem Candidate. One the public can see. I can’t stand her DLC ideology, and I find her triangulation disgusting. She is totally not real, and I don’t trust her words at all.

The longer this primary season goes on the more I dislike Hillary. And her husband. They will do anything for power. Kinda like the Bushes.

  22. Sabyen91 Says:

I am an Edwards supporter but depending on circumstances I will vote for Obama in the primaries. ABH.

  23. Sabyen91 Says:

Yeah, O. Bigfoot, we are at opposite ends of the political spectrum but we each consider our likely candidate a traitor to party. Actually they are both so owned by corporations (I don’t care what McCain claims, he is a HUGE corporate whore) that we might as well be living under a Mussolini-type facsism. If it is those two change is the last thing I see.

  24. Sabyen91 Says:

So, Bigfoot, would you be willing to vote for Obama since the other two are nothing but the same?

  25. Sabyen91 Says:

Hehe, you are right. I would never vote for Mitt. I can’t say he is the most sincere since he is not the same person as presidential candidate as he was as Massachusettes governor (don’t you think that is kind of fishy?).

Ron Paul is a crazy mofo. If it came down to Hill-McCain I think we can probably agree on Bloomberg.

  26. PollM Says:

Obama described the primary as a “beauty contest” Tuesday, and his campaign issued a statement declaring the race a tie in the delegate count: “Zero for Obama, zero for Clinton.”

Is Winning Florida a True Momentum Boost for Hillary Clinton?

    .

  27. Sabyen91 Says:

I think Ron Paul is crazy. I think Paultards are crazier. There are really two thoughts on libertarianism. One is “rights theorists” and the other “consequentialists” Paul is a consequentialist. Meaning, whatever the f!ck happens…happens. He doesn’t really give a crap about rights, he just cares that we don’t have them.

  28. Sabyen91 Says:

Bloomberg is Giuliani without the authoritarian streak. Maybe you wouldn’t like him, I don’t know. Bloomberg is Ron Paul without the crazy.

  29. Sabyen91 Says:

I dated a Mormon. She was pretty cool. I find it disgusting that he either didn’t believe his own spiel when he was there or he doesn’t believe his new positions now…One way or the other, he was BSing (or IS BSing). It is like if my Senator (Russ Feingold) all of a sudden became a card carrying NRA member with an honorary degree from Bob Jones University. Mitt is a total fake.

  30. Sabyen91 Says:

Are you a Randian, Bigfoot? If so, you are probably a “rights theorists”. John Hospers was a personal friend if hers. If it was ‘71 it was “Artistic Expression”. I, of course, did not know that. I Wiki’d it. Pretty much the difference between the two schools of thought is Social Darwinism “consequentialism” vs. States Rights (secessionist thought…ok, that was inflammatory…hehe).

  31. Sabyen91 Says:

It isn’t about Mormon, Bigfoot. At least not with me. If you are the governor of Massachusettes you are pretty liberal. To then say that you are a conservative means you were or are a lying sack of asses.

  32. Sabyen91 Says:

If you think McCain is a flip-flopper, just look at Romney. You will understand what a true politician is.

  33. Sabyen91 Says:

Romney was for gay marriage, abortion, immigration. I think that covers most of the wedge issues. And surprise, surprise, he is against them all now.

  34. Sabyen91 Says:

Ayn Rand, O Bigfoot. I thought she was alright for a libertarian. You might like her. Kinda crazy but alright.

  35. Sabyen91 Says:

Ugh, enjoy Albuquerque. As Bugs would say, you should definitely take a left turn there. :)

  36. toasterhead Says:

SO long 9iu11ani! You will be sorely missed!

Not by me per se, but probably by some people out there.

  37. Doc Rock Says:

Despite Hillary’s MAJORITY in the Florida Democratic ’sham’ primary, did anyone notice how the talking heads were still pushing Obama’s South Carolina PLURALITY as the Democrat’s “story’?

    Is there an Agenda here?

  38. Doc Rock Says:

” Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) also won the state’s Democratic primary, although she “will receive no delegates to the national convention” because of the state’s “scheduling dispute with the national party.”

Is the point that Hillary gets no delegates OR, rather that she holds a commanding preference with half of the Democratic faithful in a key electoral vote state who got out and voted despite the DNC’s foolish slap in their collective faces?

  39. The Shadow Says:

Hillary Clinton didn’t win anything. How can she claim victory when no one was allowed to campaign fairly in Florida? If Obama and Edwards had been allowed to campaign there, the result might have been different. Of course she has better name recognition in Florida, she was first lady for 8 years. Also the people of Florida can’t get an election straight anyway? Does anyone remember hanging “Chads”? It’s still not clear who won that election, Al Gore and Bill Clinton just caved in. The Supreme Court isn’t allowed to steal an election based on party idealogy. What gives them the right to say our votes don’t count? If there had been on more democrat justice, Al Gore would have been given a recount. They the (Supreme Court) violated the United States Constitution when they didn’t there appointment job.

  40. tiffany Says:

To all you Hillary haters, if your guy were the winner in Florida, would you still feel this venomous? How do you tell 2 million people their vote does not count? No one campaigned in Florida but my friends in Florida tell me they talked politics all the time. They read the news, they are on the Internet and they are just as concerned about our mess here in the USA as the rest of us. And if Hillary gets the nod, anyone who votes Republican deserves what they get. Get off your selfish, arrogant pedestal and start thinking of uniting and improving this country. I support ANY Democrat who wins the primary and so should you!

  41. the Lone Voice of Reason Says:

Puhlease, Florida is huge for Clinton. If she wins any of the other big coastal states, which is likely, it is over. Besides Katherine Harris doesn’t do illegal election work in FL anymore, she just advises other states how to do it, like Ohio.

  42. missmolly Says:

    Comment by Doc Rock — January 30, 2008 @ 7:43 am

    A couple of points here:

    1) Hillary’s “victory” in Florida is rather empty, since she receives no delegates from it. Delegates were awarded in South Carolina, making that primary actually meaningful. Therefore, South Carolina is worthy of discussion. Florida is only worthy of discussion on the subject of the party primary rules.

    2) Obama got 55% of the Democratic vote in South Carolina. That’s not merely a plurality, that’s a majority.

    Hey, right-whining trolls!

The 2006 election is over, and you lost, BADLY!!!!!!

Don’t cry when you LOSE AGAIN IN 2008!!!

(Whatever happened to that permenant majority you all said you had in 2004?)

  44. Democrat Soldier Says:

#56 - “Albuquerque is ok, for a city. I’m definately not “city folk”, so I go there for business, and then get out. There’s nothing but scenery between…” Comment by O. Bigfoot — January 30, 2008 @ 9:58 am

Do you live in Santa Fe? I ask because I’m a New Mexican native, lived in Silver City until High School (excepting my year at the Military Academy in Roswell) when I joined the Army.

Aren’t the mountains one of the greatest sights? Truly God’s country! (Then again, I’m biased in favor of New Mexico!)
