Britney Spears makes more news than Bush.

Britney Spears makes more news than Bush.»

Despite the economy drawing “heavy coverage and widespread interest” last week, Americans and the news media see President Bush as a non-story, behind Britney Spears. The Pew Research Center reports:

When asked to name the person they had heard the most about in the news lately, 24% of the public named Obama and 23% named Clinton. In a week when he proposed a major economic stimulus plan, just 5% of Americans named George Bush as the person they had heard the most about. About twice as many (11%) named Hollywood actor Heath Ledger, who died last week.

Maybe the almost-bald headed Brittney could give Bush a little head and then we could Impeach ‘em…

  2. Starve-A-Bush_Feed-A-Beaver Says:

Britney Spears would have made a better president than George Bush. At least she would have spent most of her Presidency in rehab where she wouldn’t have done as much harm.

  3. 2MillionLightYearsToAndromeda Says:

Bush didn’t propose an economic stimulus package. He offered more tax cuts to his base while throwing a few crumbs to the masses (and ignoring the people lowest on the economic rung entirely). All of this will be financed with borrowed money because we are flat broke. Please TP, don’t fall into using Bush speak.

  4. Nevar Says:

5 out of a hundred is quite sad.
Actually, it’s quite happy! Look at what people are MOST intersted in!

  5. 2MillionLightYearsToAndromeda Says:

I have an idea to pay Brittney Spears to wear an old-fashioned sandwich-board sign with the words “SIBEL EDMONDS” in big bold print.

Below this I’d have the web address: Bradblog dot com

It’s the only way I can think of to get the story out to Americans.

An excellent album by Peter Gabriel.
There’s a particular song on it which always reminds me of neo-con type trolls:
    “Digging in the Dirt”….

  7. robertoroberto Says:

Tom Brady rocking in a good mid-table finish also. Listen, when Bush loses his mind, shaves his head and starts speaking in a British accent THEN he will win the ratings game. Oh and he should DEFINITELY get it on with a photographer. Seriously, someone give me a job in PR.

    good….destroy the MSM

it’s time to dismantle this corporatist medium. raze it to the ground for their complicity in Bush’s war crimes and high crimes.

they are the enemy….i can’t wait to see Murdoch’s empire annexed and dismantled and sold off in microscopic pieces

  11. WaltTheMan Says:

Perhaps, George W Bush could emulate Heath Ledger in order to elevate his ratings in the media. Dick Cheney is in need of an uptick as well.

  13. Badmoodman Says:

Let’s focus on the positive aspect here - - only 2% named McCain or Romney.

Well, at least you’re expressing your hatred of people on the Internet and not taking it out onto the freeways.

  16. I. B. Leary Says:

How could you possibly know who people are voting for? I think it may be you that is stupid. Troll

  19. Nevar Says:

That explains alot. The same American people who are tuning into idiots like Spears and not current, relevant affairs, are the same ones dragging down this President’s approval ratings.

Comment by Liberals Are Filled With Pate

    Exactly.
6 people for Britney, 5 for Dumbya, 4 for Tom Brady (who’s he?) and downhill from there.
The same dumb 51% of teevee infested Wal-Mart addicted Americans who bought Bush’s line of BS in the first place.

Do you think President Hillary is going to dismantle corporate media?? She’s simply going to adjust its focus to use for her benefit. The corporate media, knowing that Republicans will be out of power for a long time, will simply serve whoever is President at the time. In exchange, further consolidation will be enacted in law by the FCC and lower taxes by the congress.

Nothing will change, it’s only going to get worse.

  24. Cats r Flyfishn Says:

That’s not good news. The frat boy is going to have a temper tantrum or threaten another war or something stupid to get the MSM attention. You know the boy Bush is not happy about all the media attention being given to a black man and a white woman.

  25. MapleStreet Says:

Uh, Britney makes more sense ?

Seriously, I really like that both Clinton and Obama both scored anywhere from 5 to 1 to 10 to 1 against any repubs. Hope, Hope, Hope!

My god. Your vagueness is now condensed to two letter words?

I asked this the other day, and I’ll admit if you responded I wasn’t paying attention, but why are you here? At least most of the trolls here have the decency to attempt to form logic thoughts in the form of a complete sentence.

  31. republicans hate facts Says:

Bush doesn’t care about the media attention. That is an out right lie. BJ Clinton is infamous for wanting and needing media attention….but, his wife finally told him to shut up.
    Comment by Tracy2 — January 30, 2008 @ 7:55 pm

That’s GOOD you BELIEVE THIS, because he DOESN’T GET ANY!! But see, the REASON we KNOW YOU’RE WRONG is because BUSH ONLY LISTENS TO FOX NOISE - so of COURSE he gets ALL OF THE STROKING that is WEAK, SAD, PATHETIC little EGO NEEDS. Tell us, tubbie, how do YOU and your FAT WIFE get YOUR NEEDED DOSE of SELF ESTEEM? Or does your LACK OF IT explain why you’re such a STUPID, HATEFUL little POS?

Comment by Liberals Are Filled With Hate

Sounds like you have some hate issues there LAFWH.

Many Americans are ignorant of issues because they would rather watch American Idol, or CSI or some show about what the folks in Hollywood do all day. This does not mean they are stupid though and thats why I find your remark spiteful and, as with your moniker, hypocritical.

  33. Xisithrus Says:

Liberals, a drug user, and a psychotic washed pop stars at the top of the list? Who would have thought?

    Comment by Tracy2

I remember when Rush’s drug use topped the list.

  34. burro Says:

I’d have to say that this is somewhat of a success on Shruby’s part. There’s very little that Shruby could be in the news for that would be good. Considering the relentless trail of lies and dysfunction that Shruby leaves behind him, I’d like to see him in the news a hell of a lot more than he is.

The negative impact upon everything that Shruby touches should be front page news every day. The fact that it’s not is to his favor.

  35. ForTruth Says:

    Spears actually supports the Schrub.

  39. republicans hate facts Says:

TP - you finally pointed out something relevant. The American people are stupid.
Comment by Liberals Are Filled With Hate — January 30, 2008 @ 6:44 pm

Well at least the 24% of the BUSH CULTISTS and Fox Noise regulars YOU BELONG TO - are! But we ALL knew that HERE - well ALL OF US but you TARDS! ROTFL!!

By the way, before liberals could be filled with hate, we’d have to EAT your FAT *SSES - FIRST!! ;)

  42. enough Says:

And the total inability of the MSM to focus on the right issues is a major factor in how we got into this mess.

  43. Johnn Says:

Notice who else is missing from this list: John Edwards. The national media and the power structure managed to kill the only viable challenger to their agenda by simply ignoring him. Even his announcement that he was withdrawing from the race managed to achieve only a small, backpage notice. Too bad. He spoke the language of Mary Lease, and offered us hope for a more just country, but he failed to realize that without the backing of some element of the power structure, a presidential candidate doesn’t have a ghost of a chance of acquiring legitimacy. Trial lawyers are not part of the power structure–even though some of them may be rich.
