Bush privately ‘upset’ with Romney.

Bush privately ‘upset’ with Romney.

According to the Politico’s Mike Allen, conservative columnist Robert Novak will report in his Chicago Sun-Times column tomorrow that President Bush is privately complaining about former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney’s “hard-line stance on immigration“:

While President George W. Bush has maintained neutrality among contenders for the Republican presidential nomination, he privately expresses to friends his exasperation with Mitt Romney’s hard-line stance on immigration. Bush is upset that Romney changed his position on the issue, compared to what it had been when he was governor of Massachusetts, at the expense of the president’s immigration reform.

In November 2005, Romney spoke approvingly of Bush’s comprehensive immigration reform effort, calling it a “reasonable proposal.” Now he regularly bashes it.

Digg It!

Now that Mitt knows he’s upset the power structure in the White House you can bet he’ll swing the other way. (No, not that way.)

Cool, a catfight between two spoiled rich kids! Silver spoons at ten paces, or will they just have their butlers engage in fisticuffs to settle the issue?

Yeah, it would be fun if Mittens were going to be the nominee, but he won’t. Unless McCain publicly explodes, which is always a possibility.

  12. JMOHR says:

Bush has no reason to complain. Romney is following the same political trajectory as did Bush. He is a whore to whatever group will give him a few more votes.

    Flippity flop, flippity flop –

Is there ANY issue where Romney hasn’t changed positions at least once? Immigration, abortion, gay marriage, California emissions laws — the list goes on and on.

  19. Dirty Hippie says:

Romney was the only guy praising Bush in the debate the other night for
his strong foreign policy of confronting the terrorists, keeping us, safe, blah, blah, blah. Or as it’s also known; imperialism. It’s a good thing he was sitting, otherwise he’d have needed knee pads.

I’m not sure whether by tagging their names to Hillary (Bush Sr, Coulter, Limbaugh) that Progressives will not vote for her, or Hillary is simply not that different than McCain on a left-right-center scale.

  23. katy says:

    not sure either, brain…
but just knowing how much they (my sis and her hub) HATE the clintons, and love their limpballs and coulter, makes this development the more sweet…

even though i’m pretty sure coulter is just doing her act…
she is not sincere about campaigning for hillary… but then, i could barely force myself to watch only half that video clip…
not sure which turned my stomach more, she or hannity…
    ugh.

  24. Brain From Planet Arous says:

Here’s another one, katy. What if Coulter is actually a liberal in disguise and her plan is to make Conservatives look completely insane? I pose this as a possibility, not in stone. Of course, Cons don’t need a Mann Coulter to do that.

Actually, I think it’s more likely that McCain changes his views on immigration than Romney. The Republiscums are not going to be happy to have a Presidential nominee who thinks that we should allow the undocumented workers in this country a path to citizenship.

  26. VerbalKint says:

AC and Rush are just pimping Hillary because they think she is more beatable than Obama.

Back on-topic: just wait and see how angry Bush gets when he is out of office and realizes how much everyone really hates him, including all the Republicans who blame him for ruining their party. Let’s just say this jerk won’t get many lecture invitations.

After Mitt was badgered to fire his landscaper, george could lend a helping hand and head to Massachusetts with some kind words and his brush cutter.
