CPAC Organizers Dump Ann Coulter From This Year’s Speaking List

On February 7-9, conservatives from around the country will gather in Washington, D.C. for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). This year, one of the darlings of the far right’s oft-distasteful and unpleasant punditry will not be invited:

She’s always been outrageous, but when conservative Ann Coulter talked of 9/11 “rag heads” at the 2006 Conservative Political Action Conference and linked the slur “faggot” to Sen. John Edwards in a 2007 speech, CPAC’s organizers decided to cut her from the list of speakers at the February 7-9 conference expected to draw 6,000.

At CPAC 2006, Coulter referred to Muslims as “raghead[s].” At CPAC 2007, she said she couldn’t “really talk about” then-Democratic presidential candidate and former Sen. John Edwards because “you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot.’” Watch it:

Coulter may not be a part of the formal CPAC program, but rest assured that the presence of this “great American” will still be felt.

A few of Coulter’s supporters found a way for her to appear at the conference. Five of this year’s CPAC sponsors — the Young America’s Foundation (YAF), Human Events, Townhall.com, Citizens United, and Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute — have decided to hold a “Q & A session” with Coulter that “is not part of the general sessions.”

YAF president Ron Robinson said “it’s unfortunate that Ann Coulter is not speaking at CPAC” because she is “a powerhouse for young people” and “one major reason that CPAC is so successful.”

Digg it!

    “powerhouse for young people”???

She’s 47 freaking years old!! Is this what the Conservative movement considers young?

  2. scytherius says:

Well hell. I really don’t want these people to catch on that they are a distinct minority and that the great bulk of America is beginning to regard them as buffoonish, dangerous, and in need of marginalization.

So I say . . . invite AC! Hell, let her set the program. Maybe she and Savage can do a duet. And for god’s sake televise that stuff worldwide and then put it on YouTube for everyone to see.

VerbalKint, I hope that you are right about the hate-schtick wearing out but I am not as optimistic as you in that regard.

Unfortunately, stupid is forever and we will always have buffoons like Coulter, Limpballs and Little Seanie around. Somehow or another, they attract pea-brains and make money for radio stations. Go figure.

The block quote suggests that CPAC decided that Coulter’s rhetoric suddenly crossed some heretofore non-existent line of decency.

You don’t suppose the fact that she just annouced on Hannity that she’d both vote for and campaign for Hillary Clinton if McCain became the GOP nomination had anything to do with it instead, do you?

this would be a good thread to post my ditto-head-in-law’s latest…
sorry it’s so long and dumb, but you gotta read it :

Regardless of whichever side of the aisle you believe can do the job, (I’m beginning to doubt ANY of them have anything in mind besides getting elected/reelected), I thought this was timely with all the talk of “free healthcare”. :

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some
exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab
the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a
strange question. He asked, ‘ Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.

The young man said this was no joke. ‘You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side.

The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate
to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn.
They are so used to it that they have forgotten how To forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees
happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward
Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, free medical, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms – just a little at a time.

One should always remember ‘There is no such thing as a free Lunch!

Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you
can do it yourself. Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government
‘help’ is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you
might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is
essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but
God help you when the gate slams shut!

‘A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough
to take away everything you have.’ …….. Thomas Jefferson

Ann Coulter is a typical wingnut talking (pin)head who manages to stand out from the rest of them because she is tall, blonde, and (apparently) a woman. Unfortunately, like so many people who depend on shock to make a living, she finds she must be more and more outrageous as the public becomes more and more desensitized from that sort of thing. She has written a handful of rather hateful books and writes a weekly column, which appears in a number of newspapers across the country and her own website.

Some of the more outrageous things she has said:

“I don’t know if [former U.S. President Bill Clinton is] gay. But [former U.S. Vice President] Al Gore – total fag.”
“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.”
“[Canadians] better hope the United States does not roll over one night and crush them. They are lucky we allow them to exist on the same continent.”
“There are a lot of bad Republicans; there are no good Democrats.”
“They’re [Democrats] always accusing us of repressing their speech. I say let’s do it. Let’s repress them. Frankly, I’m not a big fan of the First Amendment.”
“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.”

Anyway, you get the idea. Her whole shtick is hatred for anyone who doesn’t possess the extreme right-wing view she has.

If you really want to read her stuff, go to http://www.anncoulter.com.
