Laura Bush: George is not a ‘great dancer.’

Today on ABC’s Good Morning America, First Lady Laura Bush joked about President Bush’s dancing:

Both George and I are not great dancers. He doesn’t really like to that much, but I do like to. And Barbara and Jenna and I danced from when they were in the first grade.

Here’s proof:

  34. Marie says:

If Bush hadn’t made a mockery of his office and democracy in general, he wouldn’t find himself in these positions.
He has reduced himself to the level of a buffoon, and a dangerous one at that – so mocking him in every way is free for all.
As for “Pickles” I heard that her once sky high approval numbers are rapidly sinking toward the level of her loser-husband.

Everything Bush does is worthy of mockery.

    Comment by rastaman — February 1, 2008 @ 4:45 pm

While I recognize that much of dancing has its roots in ancient mating and fertility rituals, I (a woman) do not equate today’s dancing with sex (unless it’s something extremely suggestive, like the lambada). I have engaged in both dancing and sex in my life, and I can tell you that they require different skill sets.

Besides, your point about Laura implying that George’s bedroom skills are lacking is a road I really don’t want to travel — do you?

Now, now — any POTUS is expected to hold state and ceremonial functions at the White House, and some of these involve dancing. Virtually every recent president has done some dancing, no matter what awful things were going on in the world at the time.

Jimmy Carter actually tried to play down the party atmosphere while the Soviets were fighting Afghanistan and we were in the middle of our own energy crisis, and he just got vilified for it.

I agree with your summation of Bush, but dancing neither enhances nor subtracts from that.

I don’t hate George W. Bush. I don’t hate anyone, really — hatred really sucks a lot of energy out of me, so I prefer to focus my hatred toward what people do, rather than the people themselves.

Therefore, I don’t hate Bush the person. However, I really hate the job he has done as President, and I hate what he’s done to this country. The carnage is enough to make any patriotic American weep.

  43. 5th Estate says:

Yesterday, somewhere ( here?) there was a post about Laura Bush’s waning popularity. Now we have this ABC interview. Laura’s cause is not women’s rights, nor is it education (she says the words when prompted but doesn’t know what they mean). Her only cause and purpose to prop up her husband.
Laura is in no way newsworthy or relevant, so why is she on GMA right after the Democratic Debate? Pure circumstance, or will we be seeing her again on other shows, perhaps after Super Tuesday? It will remain to be seen. For the present though this post is as lame and pointless and Laura herself ( how could it not be given the subject and the source–GMA?).

“And that’’s all I have to say about that”–F.Gump

  50. 5th Estate says:

Oh.. HUffpo has a link to Laura appearing on access Hollywood. Still early days but I suspect Laura’s been rolled out again as a pathetic distraction to make the Bush fansfeel better and perhaps to inch Bush’s approval ratings up a couple of points, through some kind of opinion osmosis, just to ensure he doesn’t sink any lower than his current 30% average.

  51. Jack Jett says:

No…Laure much prefers to drive and kill.

It is a favorite Bush pastime.

Barbara Bush loves to eat food and give birth to morons.

  52. jb says:

Yeah, I hate him, but not for his bad dancing which is infinitely better than his leadership and governance. I hate him for all the unnecessary deaths his mis-leadership has brought us. I hate that our country is now reviled by so many who loved it before. I hate seeing our country broken, financially, socially and militarily. He should have stuck to dancing, but the GOP thought this was a good idea to have him for POTUS.

  58. natisman says:

I’ll bet he could dance a little Texas two step if he were ever placed on a trapdoor.

    Just guessing though?

  59. flavorino says:

I guess this good Morning America appearance was designed to humanize the Bush family and make us forget how dishonest and devious they are and how they have been screwing this country for decades:
from Grandpa Prescott’s financing the Nazi’s enterprises in the early ’40’s to Neil’s screwing the taxpayers with the Saving & Loan heist of the ’80’s to the biggest swindle in American history pulled off by G.W. and Cheney doing immeasurable damage to the U.S. .
Not to mention the death, anarchy and misery they’ve brought to Iraq( which the media avoids showing the sheep).
There’s too much to list and we still probably don’t know the half of it.

  60. flavorino says:

I guess I would dance like that too ….If I were tripping over 3490 or so DEAD BODIES!

    Comment by evil_framers_of_the_constitution

    It’s a lot more than 3490
    What about the Iraqis?
    Hundred’s of thousands of bodies?

What about 9/11? Another 3, 000 or so.
Bush & Cheney did a piss poor job preventing that attack for too many reasons than I can list here.

What about that other terror attack? The anthrax attack.
    How many died in that.
I don’t know because the media and government have tried to erase it from memory.
Put it down the memory hole so to speak.

  61. paulsherman says:

    In response to #63

What about the Iraqis? Why would you care how many are dead, definitly not me, and second, the troops know 100% what they are getting into when they join a military branch, yes its sad that they are dying, but its a fact troops will die, its war. Bullets are being shot and bombs are being dropped.

  62. Evergreen2U says:

Sex and Dance: Of course there is a connection. It involves physical communication skills and rhythm.
