Sex workers get ‘more business’ at GOP conventions.
This summer’s political conventions are expected to be “a boom in business” for “the sex and adult entertainment industries,” but according to one veteran sex worker who spoke to the Rocky Mountain News, the GOP conventions are “a lot better for the sex workers.” “We get a lot more business,” Carol Leigh told the paper. “I don’t know if they’re just frustrated because of the family values agenda.”

Republicans build their brand identity on a repressive "morality", for whatever reasons (fear, control, dualistic thinking...). This requires them to repress any urges or desires that the tribe may find objectionable. That may work for a while, but eventually, a boy's gotta sing. Larry Craig could attest to that, if he could be honest with himself.

There was a shot of him sitting high up in the auditorium with laura, and no one else around. He was looking over the scene after he'd been nominated. He had one foot up on the chair in front of him and he was leaning back and he had a woodie. It was really disturbing that that was his reaction.

Francine seems to think that the liberals are obsessed with sex. I guess he has forgotten that all the recent sexual scandals were Republiscums, not Democrats. Also, if the Republiscums weren't obsessed with sex, there would be no work for the sex workers at the conventions and they would not show up. Past Republiscum conventions have been very lucrative for them, so they will be there in droves.

The Republican elite believe that they are above the law and morals of man. We certainly see this in their approach to international law, the constitution and moral conventions. They honestly believe themselves to be chosen to lead and superior to others. They simply believe that as political leaders normal standards simply do not apply to them.
Why does the Republican leadership then insist upon being the party of family values? Simply to curry favor with the masses that they look down upon and as a method of keeping thosepeople in their place. We see the Republican leadership consistently spread the message of personal responsibility and family values. What better way than to make the majority of working people and the middle class blame themselves for their failure in managed economy which serves only the very narrow interests of the corpocracy? Thus we see friends, neighbors and family fall off the economic path and blamed for their fall as they become victims of off shoring, immigrants, tax breaks to the rich and large corporate interests. Did we not see the number who attacked those saved by SCHIP because they could not afford both a home and health insurance.
What better way to prove to the masses that they are scum that need to be controlled for their own good than by establishing a strict moral code that to which few could ever attain?

Frank is not a Christian or he would be abhorred by the poor moral example set by the Republican leaders. Frank can not understand why others would be interested in the absolute moral hypocrisy of the "values" party leadership. Frank is not interested in the sky rocketing corruption of the Republican elite or of its proven lack of compassion for others. Frank is not a Christian. I had the conventional wisdom that politicians and their entourages were all about the sex industry and "cutting loose" when out on the town. I pitched and upsold the escorts/clubs on that wisdom, that it would be a boom time and that that THIS was THE time to buy ads because they'd be VERY busy.
I'm not sure how it is at GOP conventions, but I can tell you that the next week, I had to deal with a LOT of VERY ANGRY escorts and clubowners. Apparantly business not only didn't spike, but they actually lost business during the week. The Dems didn't screw around apparantly. I think this article is based on some ad salesman's pitch that he's only using to drive sales.
