Savage: U.S. doesn’t want an ‘affirmative action’ president.
On his Feb. 1 broadcast of his radio show, The Savage Nation, host Michael Savage called the 2008 election the “first affirmative action election in American history“:
We have a woman and a multi-ethnic man running for office on the Democrat side. Is this not akin to an affirmative action election? … In many ways you could say this election is about the mandate called affirmative action, and I can predict right now they’re gonna lose because when the American people themselves have been able to vote for or against affirmative action, as most recently they did on a ballot initiative in very liberal Michigan, they voted against affirmative action.

You are wrong. A recent CNN poll shows that 72% of White americans told them that they would vote for a black for president. Keep in mind that was white Americans. I’m willing to bet that the percentage is higher if they factor in other races.

I disagree too….I think the American people will vote for anything that runs against a republican this time…..anything…..I don’t think they could dig up raygun and do any better right now……they are done for a long time.
You see republicans can’t survive well in a democracy. they want things thier way even if they are in the minority and will do illegal and immoral things to have their way….example…..2000-2007 pick a day. They have shown their hand.

Bull! Any two candidates have the capability to fracture their party, did you read the limbaugh thread below? Does that mean that McCain shouldn’t run because the neocons and religious fanatics in the repubican party don’t like the cut of his jib?
It’s the media that will fracture the dem party if it happens. Hill and Obama have been pretty good about not trying to blow up the party. The media talks about this because they’re generally to lazy to actually do their job, and they’re generally too self centered to realize that nobody cares what they think.

You’re right, but that’s not what Savage is saying. He’s spinning the fact that Obama and Clinton out-fundraised and out-lasted the other candidates as “affirmative action.” They got to their position as frontrunners by being the two best campaigners in the field, not because of their race or gender.

No, not scientifically. Sociologically, the “black” MEME is dominant, because for a hundred years in this country about 1/3 of our states defined their citizens’ race by the “one drop” rule…if you had ANY amount of African ancestors, you were “black” for the purposes of Jim Crow.
It’s 50 years after that sort of thing was finally officially ended, but 50 years is an eyeblink in historical terms.

The comparison of the Democratic primary campaigns with affirmative action is total nonsense; no one is forcing either Hillary Clinton nor Barack Obama on voters. Neither of them was asked to run; they chose to run themselves. If the voters in the Democratic primaries and caucauses have chosen Clinton and Obama, then that is who we chose, not who was appointed for us.
