Secret camp inside Gitmo confirmed.

AP reports:

For the first time, the top commander of detention operations at Guantanamo has confirmed the existence of the mysterious Camp 7. [...]

Guantanamo commanders said Camp 7 is for key alleged al-Qaida members, who must be kept apart from other prisoners to prevent them from retaliating against long-term detainees who have talked to interrogators. They also want the location kept secret for fear of terrorist attack. [...]

Red Cross representatives have visited Camp 7 and all the other detention facilities at Guantanamo, confirmed Geoff Loane, head of the humanitarian organization’s delegation in Washington. He declined to give details.

For the life of me I can't figure out why ANYONE would want to be the President after the Bush Crime Family. Can you imagine how hard it is going to be to clean up this mess.

On another note. I would love to hear people ask Clinton and Obama what they plan to do about the Bush Crime Family once they take office. I really want a President who will investigate all the crimes that they have committed and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. If they don't do this, the shame and the secrecy will hang over our heads forever. We need to bring all the creepy crawlers out into the sunlight and purge our government of the NeoCONs forever.

But if the facility doesn't really exist and we don't torture - what is the difference in what we call it? Most banana republics are comfortable using torture, Bush and his bunch want us to get used to it too. We are going to see much more evidence of our nation being torn apart by the neocons. The repubs are daring the country to try and stop them. Well, can we stop them? Has any candidate for president indicated if they will keep bush's policies in place or are they going to prosecute him?

    gulag also Gulag (gū'läg)

    n.

To get Bush and his thugs to quit using secrets and national security as a rock to hide under.

  22. RUCerious Says:

This whole 'enemy combatant' labeling is horseshit.
Many of these prisoners were bountied up by Pakistani police and other renegade bands who suckered the CIA into thinking they were terrerists.

Anybody the president proclaims an enemy combatant, is.
That's a violation of the principle of habeus corpus.

    Section 9, Article 8 :
The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

  25. RUCerious Says:

    And more,
The basic premise behind habeas corpus is that you cannot be held against your will without just cause. To put it another way, you cannot be jailed if there are no charges against you. If you are being held, and you demand it, the courts must issue a writ of habeas corpus, which forces those holding you to answer as to why. If there is no good or compelling reason, the court must set you free. It is important to note that of all the civil liberties we take for granted today as a part of the Bill of Rights, the importance of habeas corpus is illustrated by the fact that it was the sole liberty thought important enough to be included in the original text of the Constitution.

  32. RUCerious Says:

Testimony of Mr. Bruce Fein Partner Fein & Fein
    before the Senate Juciary committee...

    September 25, 2006
    "...
To preserve the Great Writ for enemy combatants is not to exalt
form over substance. Enemy combatants may be erroneously detained
    for at least three reasons.

    Ethnic, tribal, political, or religious
adversaries may have supplied the United States military with false
information. Further, terrorists routinely operate amidst civilian
populations. That loathsome tactic creates a non-trivial risk that
American soldiers in the heat of battle may mistake an innocent
civilian for an Al Qaeda member or supporter.

Finally, the executive may exaggerate incriminating evidence and ignore the exculpatory for political effect.
The greater the number of enemy combatants
detained, the greater the public appearance that the fight against
    international terrorism is succeeding.

In politics, optics is everything. That seems to be the explanation for the misidentification of Canadian Maher Arar as a terrorist and his deportation by the United States to Syria, where he was tortured. "

What loathsome thing. I typically find those who talk about the need for government secrecy, torture, and secret prisons are probably the same type of people who had all sorts of logical reasons for slavery in the US.

John C. Calhoun, in a famous speech in the Senate in 1837, declared that slavery was "instead of an evil, a good—a positive good."

    1. There is absolutely no pretense of civil discourse. They are simply wrong. There is absolutely no debate and nothing they say can create a legitimate debate.

    2. Let them know that they are criminal scum and will not be debated. They need to learn that their beliefs are not just wrong but criminal and absolutely immoral. These scum have too long gained a semblance of legitimacy by claiming that you have a right to civil debate. They do not.

    3. Let them know that we believe they are no better than any other terrorist. They advocate crimes against humanity. They need to know that we will label them as what they are.

    4. Let them know that we wish them the fate of all terrorists to include exclusion from civil society, imprisonment and death in a very public execution.

    5. If you meet one in public, then I suggest that you help them follow the golden rule - do to them that which they would do a terrorist. They can have no complaint. They set the rules of engagement.

See, that is where your delusions become apparent. The 'terrorist killers' you mention are neither - until convicted with real evidence. They are merely accused in the quaint tradition of American jurisprudence. You, however, make your allegiance very clear with your words. In that regard, you confessed to your crimes against humanity and therefore should be punished with the same tools you would use on the innocents. That seems fair - not sick - to thinking people everywhere. Why does the right side hate America?

    BREAKING NEWS

    updated 34 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans blocked a move by Democrats on Wednesday to add more than $40 billion in checks for the elderly, disabled veterans and the unemployed to a bill to stimulate the economy.

The 58-41 vote fell just short of the 60 required to break a GOP filibuster and bring the Senate version of the stimulus bill closer to a final vote. The Senate measure was backed by Democrats and a handful of Republicans but was strongly opposed by GOP leaders and President Bush, who objected to the costly add-ons.

These neocons go against everything this nation was founded on yet somehow in their warped, fascist psyche consider themselves to actually be patriots. A true patriot loves his Country over his party. A true patriot believes deeply that we are a nation of laws, not men, and that ALL men (politicians included) are equally bound by our laws. A true patriot deeply cherishes his freedoms and angrily detests ANYONE who would attempt to infringe on them. For the life of me I'll never understand how these apologists of the most unpatriotic, treasonous, criminal Administration this Country has ever seen consider their unquestioned loyalty to a president as being patriotic and anyone who disagrees is called "traitor". You allow a member of the UN or designated internal body to monitor the procedings. If found guilty of the war crime(s) the prisoner is offered a reduced sentence if they cooperate with providing information on AQ, if they refuse the prisoner is executed. If found not guilty of a war crime but guilty of association with AQ, the prisoner is retained as a POW.

sounds reasonable, problem is we have war criminals in charge...they like the idea of secrets and invisible detention camps....they could care less about the damage to our good name.....in fact I think they are intent on destroying us if we don't put a stop to it.

Got it Fred. I assume we would need to replace the current US regime first.

Bush has authorized the CIA to torture. Bush has authorized NSA to tap phones, monitor emails and regular mail. His administration picks people up off the street, hobbles them, and takes them against their will to secret torture locations. Bush and Cheney dummied up intelligence got a war started and got almost 4000 of our troops killed to date. Thousands of Iraqis have died and will die as long as they are not allowed to settle their own problems. Bush made all of this up, it's a fairy tale war with real consequences. Bush has ignored the separation of powers and has intentionally altered legislation by signing statements, he has refused to honor subpoenas from congress and he has hidden or his cronies have hidden and/or destroyed emails regarding the outing of a CIA agent by Bush and Cheney. Patriotism implies that regardless of party you want to save the Union, to preserve its foundational document, the constitution, and you want to see the rule of law. Financially, this country is about to go in the dump and it's causes are numerous but Bush is responsible for the rich making out and the average guy taking it in the fantail. We need to find a way to stop divisive politics and do some problem solving. If all you want to do is argue USA Patriot (why aren't you in Iraq if you're a patriot?) do it in such a way that we can all come to consensus about some things we can do together to turn all of this around. Finally, did everyone see Bush dancing with the Saudi Prince holding that sword on high with a big shit eatin' grin. He kisses their butts, he asked "his majesty" to produce more oil. His majesty said no. How embarassing! Saudi Arabia, the home of 19 hijackers on 9/11 and they haven't been touched. Instead Bush attacked Iraq...talk about a diversion.

Keep in mind folks, Democrats use phrases that are the opposite of what they mean, “progressive” for example.

The truth will out. When the light finally hits all the dark recesses of this administration and reveals all the illegal, unethical activity, our country will hang its head in shame. Thanks GOPigs.

Who is going to shine that blinding Xenon light? Why in the hell is Hillary jumping up and clapping when Bush says "More Wars" at the State of The Union speech?" Since she seems to be anointed the new "Queen Bee", and all of the liberal drones are buzzing around her hive, why do we think the situation will change? I mean, come on, a Salomi sandwich could run after what Bush has done and win. Enough of these "investigations" by the democrats on Bush Crimes. Shape-Shifting is a new practice for both Dems and Repubs. I hear stuff like "Hillary or Obama will pull the rug out from AIPAC when one of them elected". This would be funny is not so ridiculously sad.

Now, secret prisons inside Gulags.......I used to think Alex Jones was nutty, with secret detention camps in the USA and such. Watching the Police State we are in, 300 taser deaths, beatings of peaceful protesters, eavesdropping on everyone, and finally economic collapse of which the history of the planet has never seen, I begin to wonder whether this Gitmo is a trial run for the people of the USA, and maybe these militia guys weren't so nuts.

    Just thinking out loud...........
