CDC blocked release of ‘alarming’ environmental report.

The Center for Public Integrity reports today that “for more than seven months, the nation’s top public health agency has blocked the publication of an exhaustive federal study of environmental hazards in the eight Great Lakes states” because of “alarming information” about “elevated infant mortality and cancer rates” potentially threatening “more than nine million” Americans. In July, just days before the report was to be released, the Center for Disease Control “withdrew it, saying that it needed further review.”

Hey, just let the free market do it’s business, get the government out of the way, and let the “invisible hand” work it’s magic by cleaning up all of those pesky chemicals and other assorted toxins.

just one more case of republican criminal behavior. They can’t help themselves.

Wonder if this has anything to do with the multi legged frogs and other morphed amphibians in that area for the past, what? 10 years or so?

Hoping our next President will set a better example than the current liar/spyer and demand truth and transparency from all arms of our government and govrnmental employees instead of dealing in propaganda.

Humans being what they are, genuine leadership can make a HUGE difference.

There are already too many hampsters in the “habitrail” as it is, now we’ve gone and turned up the heat. Can you imagine the alarming CDC projections for the arrival of the pathogens exploiting a changing climate reports which have to be blocked?

  6. StratRat says:

I think it is going to get ugly folks….The trajectory of the change may increase very quickly. The people who doubt climate have nothing to fall back on if they are wrong. If we get this ‘climate debate’ wrong, the human race could be gone in a short amount of time. Why not err on the side of caution and survival?

    Yeah, but what’s this got to do with controlling Iraqi oil? Obviously you don’t get it! ;

“further review” = more duct tape

I know…I’m afraid I’m not a ‘detail’ guy. Sometimes I miss the big picture as well. Sigh…

It’s all politicized. Every little niche and cranny. The great lakes states have some people that do not like being the fiddle.

Thanks, TP… for the Heads Up.

You mean like you are in the habit of being intellectually dishonest, but not intelligent?
Your petty, childish attacks and snipes at other posters are getting just plain annoying.

    New lows everyday.

But then again, people who torture can’t really get much lower. Or so I thought.

  18. VerbalKint says:

The report will be released after it undergoes “the normal editing process” by White House officials, none of whom understand the first thing about science.

N.W. Ohio native here – about 30 minutes from the shore of Lake Erie. If you guys haven’t heard, Clyde, Ohio which is 10 minutes from the hometown, also near the Erie shore, is having an “outbreak” of juvenile cancer and the EPA is investigating. Below is a heartbreaking story on the matter.

    Lupeyg2,

Here’s a similar situation in Texas, although the cause is most likely the creosote used by the railroads to treat their cross timbers.

  25. WaltinTexas says:

The last time I looked, BushCo had eliminated or rolled back over 400 environmental protections that have been implemented over the past 30 years. “Burdensome for business” is their usual excuse. Hiding and/or changing scientific reports that show the extent of their misdeeds has been going on since the day the Miserable Failure and his POS VP walked into the White House. Reputable scientists have either been forced out or quit this administration in disgust due to the changing of fact based scientific reports to correspond to their corporate welfare based agenda. The health and well being of the American public (as expressed in the Lupeyg2 post above) is not a consideration by these evil individuals. Profits for the few at the expense of the many is what matters- no matter the cost.

DNFP – I’ve decided to elaborate on the Clyde, OH issue at DKos. Check it out if you get a chance.
