Anderson Cooper Insists He Hasn’t Covered Britney In ‘A Long Time,’ Despite Segment Last Week

Last night, filmmaker Michael Moore was a guest on CNN’s Larry King Live. At one point, King checked in with Anderson Cooper, who previewed the topic on his show that night: Britney Spears. Moore then cut in, asking why Cooper and CNN are so obsessed with Spears: “Why don’t we just leave her alone and let her go on with her life?” Cooper responded that he hasn’t “covered her for a long time“:

COOPER: I don’t know. This is the first time we’ve covered her for a long time. Clearly, people are just fascinated. There was a story in the LA papers today about the money which is generated by a lot of these paparazzi news agencies and these magazines which seem to follow her every move. It’s out of control.

Watch it:

Evidently, in Anderson Cooper’s world, five days without Britney is “a long time.” In fact, his show did a segment about her as recently as last Friday. Watch it:

In June, Moore was also supposed to be King’s guest. But at that time, the show canceled his appearance in favor of another of the network’s celebrity fascinations: Paris Hilton.

    “Last night, filmmater Michael Moore…”

    I don’t think it’s like that, exactly.

Five days is a long time in Britney World. Two weeks without an update is negligence and anything more is criminal.

There should be a frickin law, something like: Section 34-21-2341 Failure to Report on Celebrity Goings-on. Make it federal crime punishable by a fine in the 6 figure range and a couple of years in the fed pen.

Maybe Pelosi and Reid can get right on this, so the cult of personality addled and idolatry addicts can maintain their habits.

CNN, FAUX, well hell ALL MSM news shows have very little real news on…it’s infotainment for the non thinking cretins of society.

    Bush Torture = Non news
    Brittney doing anything = news
    Bush Lies = Non news
    Paris doing anything = news
    Bush corruption = Non news
    etc.etc.etc

Americans = the most ill informed beings on the planet.

I mean really, Phuckabee thinks the world is 6000 years old, how much more ill informed can you be.

Isn’t there a show called Entertainment Tonight, or something like that?

Why would C(orporateWhoring) N(notsomuch) N(news) want to become a show like that?

This from someone who thinks Ned Lamont works at a drive through window.

Believe it or not, there is a point to this story: that the so-called serious news has degenerated to tabloid coverage at a time during which our country is being ruined by a gang of criminal thugs occupying the White House.

Buckie, you’re right on. That is what gets me aggravated- the “news” vs. the non-news.

  11. leftcoast says:

Who really cares? But if we are here to talk about the issues that matter…

  12. tombaker says:

If the news really covered news, people would be too busy being outraged to go out and spend all their $ on worthless crap, and a whole lot of vain, overprivileged parasites would be put out of business, and apparently we just can’t have that, even if it means the populace is reduced to existing as a mass of ill-informed juveniles who can’t judge how best to improve their own street, let alone the entire nation. This country’s running on fumes intellectually, and will soon slip beyond hope – noty only will we not attain what the industrialized countries of Europe and Asia have, we will skid right on down to 3rd world status – a source of cheap labor and warehouse space.

  13. leftcoast says:

    This is a bullshit thread.

  14. tombaker says:

13 – The dumbing-down and wimpification of the population is as important an issue as there is. We’ll never get anywhere on anything as long as people are as superficial and ignorant as Wolf Blitzer and Britt Hume encourage them to be.

That list looks pretty strange, although 90% of them are confirmed Neo-Con supporters. Marilyn Manson said something to the effect of (paraphrased) “If Bush wins, it will be good for something for people of conscience to rally around, and creativity will flourish”. It was the Aleister Crowley approach to saying he thought Hitler was a great guy. It creates controversy, and Manson and Crowley liked to upset people.

I can’t find a confirmation on Gary Oldman.

Yeah, it is sad that so many Americans are so stupid. But then so is most of the world. People are easily manipulated.

But you can’t teach logic or reason because then it would offend the religious nuts. Which is just about any religious person.

    Spirituality is another matter….

I cringe everytime I hear Anderson Cooper say, “We’re keeping them honest”. Who exactly has he kept honest?

I know. It hurts my head too.

  24. flavorino says:

Anderson Cooper is a waste of the public’s time.
Anderson Cooper is to a journalist what Britney Spears is to a great artist.
Cooper, Mathews, Scarborough, Hannity, Wolf, et al are NOT journalists.
They are circus clowns…their goal is entertainment, not journalism.

  25. Sabyen91 says:

For those of you saying this isn’t news. BS. It is news because the MSM (Cooper) are covering Britney, Holloway, that crazy eyed bastard that confessed to the little beauty queen murder…and not actual news. Get it?

I wish that the media would just ignore her. She’s just trash. She was trash when her image was created by Disney, and she’s trash now. If she weren’t blonde and rich, would the media really care?

No wonder Americans are among the least-informed people on the planet. No wonder it is so easy for Republicans to lie to us with impunity. No wonder people are confused!

I bet that 9 out of 10 people can tell you more about BS than they can about any of the candidates for the presidency. I bet they know more about BS than they do about our own history.

    The corporate media SUCKS.
