Romney to drop presidential bid.

GOP sources are saying that Mitt Romney will suspend his presidential bid. He is expected to make the withdrawal announcement today at CPAC.

UPDATE: Karl Rove has confirmed to Fox News that Romney is likely to drop out.

The Mitt who spoke out of all seventeen sides of his mouth… He tried to claim that he would continue the many disasters of our little Texas tyrant, but somehow, like the GOP reaction to 11-9: Mister Julieannie, the folks were not buying those stale policies any longer…

It’s all proceeding according to God’s plan, right, Daryll? Now that the heathen Romney is gone, “President-Elect Huckabee” will pick up all of his delegates and crusade right to victory in November.

    A McCain-Huckabee ticket. Bring it.

    Comment by Badmoodman — February 7, 2008 @ 12:29 pm

You’re mistaken. Daryll ahs already informed us that God has annointed the Huckster as the next president.

    Comment by Badmoodman

If you notice where Phuckabee won (the south), it shows just how ignorant and superstitious the South is, it is amazing that that many people would vote for someone who thinks the earth is 6000 years old.

    Ignorance is bliss.

  16. ScrewBush says:

Well GOPers, it’s time to buy some fresh new knee pads. There’s a new daddy in town… perhaps a granddaddy, and his name is John McCain!!!

I hope GOPers learn to cling to John just as tightly as John loves to hug our King George. Of course that’s in a very manly boy crush on a Saudi prince sort of way. Say goodbye to Romney, the last semi-rational candidate on your side. Now you have McWar, I mean McCain, and that other guy trying to bring us back to about the 12th century.

  17. DieNowForPeace says:

btw, whatever happens to all the campaign cash collected and not used when the candidate “bows out”?

Seems like a nice way to create a nice personal “stash” to me.

  18. ForTruth says:

Goodbye Mitt, I actually knew ye a bit well.

  19. GSD says:

My GOD! America is doomed! Mitt Romney was God’s chosen saviour!

Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck……..losers one and all.

Beck is going to have a shit fit today!

    Watch the GOP melting.

  20. missmolly says:

I’m trying to figure out what “suspend” means in this instance. I think what Romney probably means is “I’m going to quit campaigning, but I’m not going to officially drop out, release my delegates, or endorse anyone else. This way, if I decide to pull a Gary Hart later, I still have my options open.”

What it really means is that Romney is hanging it up — he just may not be admitting it yet.

So NOW who will Limbaugh and Coulter champion since their boy Romney is toast?

Oh me! Oh my! What, pray-tell, are the five strapping young Romney lads going to do now that their mission of serving America by campaigning for dear old dad is coming to a screeching halt?? Hmmm — perhaps we can all give the boys a hand in their decision-making process by providing the addresses of the nearest Army and Marines recruiting offices. Just saying . . .

He’ll use that money to pay himself back for all his personal money he put into his campaign.

You will notice that Hillary Clinton said she “loaned” her campaign $5 million. You can bet your sweet bippie that she will pay herself back with any campaign cash she has left if her bid fails.

This is why I didn’t like Romney – too much like Bush. Very duplicitous. Aiding and supporting the terorists? That’s why you halted your campaign? That’s gotta be the weakest cop-out yet. Absurd.

  62. Dumb_Fox says:

Mitt: “If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win. And in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign, be a part of aiding a surrender to terror”

Out of the race, but still a dick.

  63. Marie says:

McCain is the nominee now, and he will probably take Huckabee for a running mate.
