In remarks yesterday to CPAC, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) attacked Democrats for allegedly not recognizing “the threat posed by an Iran with nuclear ambitions,” claiming to know that Iran is pledging to “possess the weapons to advance their malevolent ambitions.”
Speaking at CPAC today, notorious Iran war hawk John Bolton emphasized his support for McCain, saying McCain proved he is “stronger” than the Bush administration with the senator’s statement on Iran. Bolton claims Bush is too “moderate” and has a foreign policy in “freefall” because he has yet to bomb Iran:
I think Senator McCain’s statement here yesterday on how he would handle the Iranian program is stronger than the current Bush administration policy. And thank goodness, because the Bush administration policy now lies on the ocean floor. … I didn’t think the policy the administration was pursuing was robust enough.
Watch it:
Echoing Bolton, this morning, McCain revealed that he was “skeptical” of the recent National Intelligence Estimate, which said that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons production in 2003. “I continue to worry about…Persian domination of the region,” he said.
Bolton also revealed today that McCain covertly pushed his nomination to the United Nations — “a nomination that was held up in Congress over Bolton’s controversial anti-UN statements and policies”:
He was very active behind the scenes…He thought I was the type of ambassador that ought to represent the United States at the United Nations.
John McCain: more hawkish than Bush on Iraq and Iran.

Wow, if I was John McCain, I would be calling Bolton and telling him to STFU. Having Bolton endorse McCain and claim that McCain endorses him WILL NOT help McCain in the long run. No one but the 28%ers have anything but contempt for Bolton. Wouldn’t it be great if that was the percentage of people who voted for McCain in the election. It sure would be telling.

February 8th, 2008 at 5:36 pmWestminster Commitee on Iran
Is Iran intent on developing nuclear weapons? UN inspections have found no evidence of a nuclear weaponisation programme, past or present. Since 2004 there have been over 2300 person/hours of inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Mohammed El Baradei has stated that there is no evidence that Iran has a weapons programme. On 15 November 2007 an IAEA report essentially cleared Iran of all outstanding ambiguities regarding its past nuclear programme.
Has Iran been blocking inspections of its nuclear plants? Iran has complied with IAEA inspections and has met its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Iran voluntarily accepted and enforced safeguards stricter than IAEA’s Additional Protocol until February 2006. The November IAEA report found that “Iran has provided sufficient access to individuals and has responded in a timely manner to questions and provided clarifications and amplifications on issues raised in the context of the work plan”. IAEA inspections are on going, most recently in December 2007 where inspectors completed five days of inspections of the first consignment of Russian fuel for Iran’s nuclear power plant at Bushehr.
Did UN inspectors found traces of highly enriched uranium? In 2004 IAEA inspectors did find traces of highly enriched uranium in the plant in Natanz. In 2005 the IAEA confirmed that this highly enriched uranium was Pakistani and came to Natanz as a result of imported centrifuges.
Why would the UN pass a resolution unless Iran had done something wrong? There is no basis for Resolution 1737 under international law and questions have been raised as to whether political pressure was exerted on the Security Council members to vote in favour of it. The fact that even the NIE report finds that Iran is not diverting its civilian nuclear activities into a weaponisation programme and has fully cooperated with the IAEA, means that there were no grounds within the NPT either to refer Iran to the UN Security Council in the first place.

February 8th, 2008 at 5:37 pmDoes the entire International Community support sanctions?
February 8th, 2008 at 5:38 pmIn June 2006, 56 nations signed the Baku Declaration which stated “the only way to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue is to resume negotiations without any preconditions and to enhance cooperation with the involvement of all relevant parties”. Similarly the Non-Aligned movement representing the majority of the international community has recognised Iran’s right for a civilian nuclear technology.
McCain revealed that he was “skeptical†of the recent National Intelligence Estimate.
****why would anyone vote to put Bush again in Office:A vote for McCain in the General is a vote for another Bush term.

February 8th, 2008 at 5:39 pmEARLY DAY MOTION
The Westminster Committee endorse the statement made in the House of Commons on 18th December 2007 in an Early Day Motion 623 signed by British MP’s. It stated:
“That this House notes the findings of the International Atomic Energy Agency-Iran work plan of 27th August and the IAEA’s report of 15th November clarifying and clearing a number of major outstanding issues in relation to Iran’s past nuclear activities; notes the judgement of the recent US National Intelligence Estimate that Iran does not have an active nuclear weapons programme at present; is strongly concerned about the continued threats of a military attack against Iran which could start another catastrophic war in the Middle East; urges immediate, direct and unconditional negotiations between the US and Iran on all points of dispute; and calls on the Government to oppose publicly any military intervention by the US and/or Israel in Iran.”
The Westminster Committee was not involved with this Early Day Motion in any way. It was conceived and drafted by Jermey Corbyn MP .

The Cable-Cutter Mystery
http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=12329
I was skeptical, at first, of speculation over the cutting of two cables linking the Middle East with the Internet, which had it as part of some Vast Neocon Conspiracy to isolate the region prior to a US military assault. However, when two more cables – this time, in the Persian Gulf – were mysteriously cut, I began to wonder ….

He MIGHT even make you his VP candidate!
Can YOU say “Bob Dole”?
Bob Dole can!!!
February 8th, 2008 at 6:26 pmMcCain expresses concern about “Persian domination of the region” while never acknowledging that the Iranians are terrified that the militaristic United States will, as in Iraq, start to drop its bombs on its country, which will result in the deaths of many thousands of innocent Iranian civilians. Unfortunately, the top two Democratic contenders, to use their words, do not offer much hope, since both Clinton and Obama have stated that they are going to keep the nuclear option open regarding Iran.
February 8th, 2008 at 6:26 pmThat clip could certainly help the DNC in commercials geared toward Independents and Dem Hawks. Bolton’s popularity (if people even know him) in the general population probably sits around 14% and none of them Independents. His visage is enough to turn off others.
February 8th, 2008 at 6:48 pmThey can be cell mates at Gitmo Camp 7. FOREVER!
February 8th, 2008 at 6:58 pmYa gotta hand it to Bolton — he’s very focused. And his focus is on beating the crap out of the rest of the world. He doesn’t care about economics, he doesn’t care about social issues, he doesn’t care about the constitution, he doesn’t care about the balance of government powers. He doesn’t even care about our skyrocketing debt of the sinking of the dollar — if China is a problem, he’ll just say beat the crap out of it (the way he wants to solve all problems).
He and McCain would make a rather scary pair.
February 8th, 2008 at 7:02 pmMcCain was heard singing “Bomb Iran” to a Beach Boys tune.
February 8th, 2008 at 7:16 pmJust a joke, but…
What a sad little man is McCain–a mere trace of the Naval hero he was. So obsessed with being president he’d embrace the devil himself let alone try to make himself the Cheney-Bush clone, kiss the feet of the late Falwell, and anything else it takes. If elected he’ll just be the next Scaife-Mellon-Coors-etc., sock puppet.
February 8th, 2008 at 7:21 pmSomeone wake me up when Bolton is more than a high-pitched unmanned know-nothing blowhard.
February 8th, 2008 at 7:22 pmSomeone please remind him that in 2003 the Swiss ambassador brought the U.S. government an Iranian offer. That offer included, among other things, a deal to stop their nuculear program, official diplomatic recognition of Israel And turning over known terrorists then in Iran. What was the reaction of Our elected officials? Basically they told the Swiss ambassador to mind his own business. Why negociate when its So much more fun to Blow Stuff Up??? Is there no end to their Insanity????
February 8th, 2008 at 7:40 pmImpeach Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution, along with my sanity!
This presidential election is so telling. That fact that republicans mouth on as if they have a chance in hell of retaining the White House, in the face of such low public public approval, is clearly indicative of their ignorance.
The “I’ve got mine, to hell with you” era is coming to a close.
Executive Order ____ (President Obama): John Bolton is hereby required to have his leash shortened.

February 8th, 2008 at 8:15 pmThis guy Bolton belongs in a padded cell, of course with the proper medication and therapy although I doubt he will every function as a normal healthy sane human.
There’s a lot of hype about the “threat” that Iran poses to the Middle East. Iran last invaded another country, oh about 300 YEARS AGO.
On the other hand the C.I.A. engineered a coup in 1953 that overthrew the elected leader of Iran and installed a dictator (the shah).
In 2003 we bombed the sh** out of their neighbors (remember shock and awe?) based on lies (935 lies by the recently released report)and occupied them while having troops in their neighbor on the opposite side (Afghanistan)
All the while maintaining a war fleet right on the edge of their territorial waters trying to provoke an incident while issuing belligerent and dishonest statements trying to provoke that incident that will give us the excuse to bomb the sh** out of them.
Can you imagine if the roles were reversed and a Muslim nation bombed the crap out of and occupied Mexico based on lies creating death, destruction and a flood of refugees, simultaneously had troops in Canada while maintaining a threatening war fleet off the coast of Florida.
February 8th, 2008 at 8:20 pmAll the while issuing belligerent rhetoric and having leaders that were itching to bomb us, possibly with tactical nukes or “bunker buster” bombs.
Now THAT WOULD BE A THREAT!
There is something organically ill about today’s neo-conservatives.

February 11th, 2008 at 1:21 pmSo McCain and Bolton are Fascist, War Criminals and Nazis?
These statements are nothing new in fact, this type of labeling was a favorite tactic of Stalin in regard to his purges and even more effectively used by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Hitlers “propaganda minister”.
Whats interesting to me is that both Stalin and Goebbels used the tactic of labeling their own citizenry or more specific political opposition “fanatics” as the most effective means to an end. Whats puzzling to me is when i think of these so-called fascist Bolton, Bush, McCain and compare their words and actions to those of the great Fascist Notables of the past like Hitler and Mussolini, I have a hard time lining them up.
For example someone on this site please find me quotes, references or policies made by Bush and supported by Bolton that refer to their political opposition as sub-human and in need of a final solution. Furthermore, direct me to policies enacted by Bush that lead to the mass graves in the Montana wilderness or butchery of Gypsies. Sure you can retort with some sort of Iraq death count but then Iraqi’s and history will record who the real “Butcher of Baghdad” was even if you cant bring yourself to face the evil committed by the true Nazi, Saddam.
Obviously, I think most of you who hate Bush are actually the ones in this Nation who harbor the ability and intense hatred needed to exact or advocate your own “final solution” on those who don’t share your world view, mainly the despised and “evil” Neo-Cons. Now do i say that tough and cheek, YES, but it has been my understanding of History throught context and perspective that Fascism is actually a product of the Leftist movements for which most of you Bush haters would identify yourselves with, at least in a modern America context.
Let me leave you with food for thought and of course i know some of you nut jobs out there intoxicated on your sense of “freedom” probably wont have the ability to see the irony, the context or perspective that surrounds this historical comparison but thats your problem and not ours.
1.Executive Order 9066- Interment of the Japanese-American by FDR. Now wouldn’t FDR be a much better example of an American President who behaved in a manor more similar to Hitler and his SS. The rounding up of innocent civilians in the name of Nationalism/Protectionism, throwing their liberties out the door in the name of protecting the “state”. FDR a real American President and Fascist who actually enacted policies that imprisoned Americans en mass
2. Then there is JFK and i quote from his speech to the nation during the Cuban Missile Crisis “Neither the United States of America nor the world community of nations can tolerate deliberate deception and offensive threats on the part of any nation, large or small.” Clearly from the historical record one can see that JFK was willing to put enemies not only on notice that his “regime” would not tolerate threats but would furthermore, strike first if certain demands were not met by sworn enemies. Isn’t this a better example of the doctrine of preemption then Iraq for example. I mean there was Gulf War 1, treaties of surrender were signed, no fly zones imposed, military operations continued all through the 1990’s under President Clinton. I think America and the Left need to look only to President Kennedy when considering “warmongering” and the policy of preemption. Lets not forget, it was Kennedy who saw the enormous threat of Communism in the early 1960’s in SE Asia and mongered us into the Vietnam Conflict.
3. Last but not least a favorite of mine and real interesting study into American Presidents, their policies and oppositions. President Abraham Lincoln, oh what a douzy he pulled off. He mongered the North into war with the South, preemptively I might add, only to lose the first 3 years of the war and hundreds of thousands of American lives on both sides. But this policy Lincoln pursued of Unity of the states over Separation only gets better. He actually suspended Habeas Corpus, for you civil liberty minded moonbats, thats the right to due process for American citizens under the Constitution. Yep he did it in 1861 and 1862. Furthermore Lincoln removed several elected officials in the government under the sedition acts, in lay terms for “treason”, for hindering and giving aid and comfort to the enemy through merely expressing their opposition to “his” war on the innocent Southerns. Of course in good ol’ America fashion the “doves” of the time didnt take this laying down and had plenty to say about it. You Bush haters might be relieved to know or maybe in a sick way jealous of the fact that Lincoln’s detractors actually treated him worse then you have treated GWB over these past 7 years, distorted the reality and facts of the time in a manor that narrowly out weighs your disgusting actions of today.
In sum I have identified FDR, JFK and Lincoln as three American Presidents more worthy of the title warmonger or fascist. These three men committed acts in my opinion far beyond the scope of anything Bolton, Bush or McCain have supported or ordered. When the left decides to use the concepts of perspective and context when looking at historical events maybe then they will begin to understand how stupid they sound when blabbing about modern events. Whether you on the left like it or not Bush has the determination of JFK, the unpopularity but vision of Lincoln and the well intentioned if not misguided policy choices of FDR, all Great Americans with an understanding of history put in perspective and context! c-ya moonbats and by the way war with Iran will look nothing like that of Iraq, you ever heard of EMP bombs, well read up. To stop Iran all America needs to do is set a couple of those devices off and the whole nation switches off, not a jet, car, radio or bomb will work within 50 miles of ground zero and not a single innocent Mullah who screams death to America in the streets will loose their life, just their ability to broadcast the Friday prayer calling for our annihilation!
