Now, if Hillary gets in, she will continue her masters bidding, and continue Bush's foreign policies. Then, there will be no money for these social programs she will supposedly be advocating that are better than McCain.

America, if you are dumb enough to vote these Zionist Tools in, then we get what we deserve. Gravel, Kucinich, and Paul are sidelined, and we are left will various versions of Likud Party politics.

Here's a guy who stopped the Draft, and voted against the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. Hillary Clinton is not even qualified to wash Mike Gravel's feet.

I am voting third party if she runs against McCain, and anyone who says it is a throwaway vote, knows not their Ass From a Hole in The Ground when it comes to who is actually running our foreign policy. What a choice....McCain and Hillary!!

"The deliberate betrayal of its trust by the Republican party, the fatal incapacity of the Democratic party to deal with the new issues of the new time, have compelled the people to forge a new instrument of government through which to give effect to their will in laws and institutions."

http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/USAprogressive.htm

<em>"To destroy this invisible Government, to dissolve the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day." - 1912 Progressive Party Platform, attributed to Theodore Roosevelt and quoted again in his autobiography where he connects Trusts and monopolies (sugar interests, Standard Oil, etc.) to Woodrow Wilson and Howard Taft, and consequently both major political parties.</em>

From Theodore Roosevelt: An Intimate Biography, Chapter XXII, pp. 25–31. (1919) -- William Roscoe Thayer

Funny how things seem the same.

Maybe trying a real Progressive Party again and not giving up on it, maybe we can actually change things.

For now, lets get the Republicans out first. We already know they have the "Midas Touch of Sh!t" and we cannot afford 4 more years of it.

If the Democrats are as ineffective as they have been the last 8 years (not just the disappointing last 2), its time for a voter rebellion and forming a new party. It has not always been Republican vs Democrat though out our history. After that, kick them all out, Republican and Democrat. If the Parties cannot listen to the people, then they no longer deserve our votes or support.

There are very few Democrats that I still respect at this point, and no Republicans.

My message to the DNC Leadership, do the right thing, or imperil your own Party.
I have had enough, and I am fairly sure a healthy chunk of America has as well.

I will remember the last 8 years, for the corruption and the spinelessness of it all has been burned into my mind.
We are not all as stupid as you wish we were.

"If you are not sorely disappointed with the Democratic leadership since 2006, then you are just as blindly partisan as the Republicans."

Comment by Wayne — February 9, 2008 @ 2:22 pm

Amen to that Wayne. THe problem is that WE are not holding the Dems feet to the fire. As I suggested yesterday every time We get any email from them asking for donations or decrying the rebuplicans "use" of the filibuster, WE need to shoot back via email that THEY MUST stand up against them, force them to "actually" filibuster, and STOP CAVING in to this administration regardless of the lack of 60 votes! They must start doing the right thing even if it means that they will not always succeed. Just do it because it's the right thing to do! Or we will not give them another dime.

Chris Dodd is one courageous Senator…but he is also a Democrat.

Comment by Badger — February 9, 2008 @ 3:42 pm

But the Senate Leader is Harry Reid, also a Democrat.
Notice may railing is against the leadership. =)

The Democratic Party Leadership needs a shakeup badly, IMHO.

If Democrats cannot speak out against the wrongs of their own party, how are things to change?

Convince me this is in the interest of the Country and Constitution so I can support the current DNC/DLC leaders.

I don't think you need to support the DNC/DLC leaders...I just don't want you to sit the election out, or vote for a 3rd party candidate in a CLOSE election.

Bush did NOT get exactly what he wanted. His domestic policy legacy is in tatters. Social Security Privitization, Immigration Reform, even FISA /domestic spying legislation were successfully blocked.

And remember that there is NO statute of Limitations for Murder.

just popped in to catch up some reading...

it was good to see bilbo and badger here expressing so well
my own thoughts and feelings...

and my kucinich comment was a follow up to badger's:
<em>What can prevent the Republican’s actions to block accountability for Bush?? Besides voting the Republicans out in 2008?</em>

dennis is fighting 5 corporate candidates in his ohio district...
if he can keep his seat, you KNOW he'll be there to help
clean up the mess... but he needs our help NOW...

What can prevent the Republican’s actions to block accountability for Bush?? Besides voting the Republicans out in 2008?

Comment by Badger — February 9, 2008 @ 2:57 pm

At this point its the only logical choice.
My cynicism is because not only because accountability has not been done, but they have continued to give Bush exactly what he wants.

Convince me. Give me one good reason impeachment is completely "off the table". A good DA will not let a murderer off without trial because he has doubts a jury will acquit before ever presenting evidence.

Convince me this is in the interest of the Country and Constitution so I can support the current DNC/DLC leaders.

Wayne...I think that the democratic strategy is not letting the criminals off again. The extreme secrecy of the Bush Administration, and not having enough votes, is preventing the accountablity we both want.

If 2008 results in a landslide for the democrats, I think we will see a different strategy by the Democratic leadership.

Comment by Badger — February 9, 2008 @ 2:42 pm

If part of that strategy is a IranContraWatergate-ish strategy of letting the criminals off again, I will fight to bring down both parties. I will never support either of the major parties again. Enough is enough.

Ralph Nader did best in Alaska...10% of the votes in 2000. This makes sense because of the winner take all nature of the electoral college. Gore had no chance to win in Alaska.
In Florida, however, Nader's votes cost Gore the election, and cost the Country more than we could have ever imagined.

Democrats are not monolithic. Many were elected from very conservative districts, and voted with Bush on many issues. A lot of them, by the way, were replaced by Republicans for their troubles.
In 2006, many of these conservative districts, suffering from Bush fatige, elected Democrats. The Democratic leadership has chosen to not have these Red district Democrats vote on many controversial issues that were likely to lose anyhow.
The Democratic leadership has dissappointed a great many Democrats, but it has avoided shooting itself in the foot.

I really can’t believe anyone can call themselves a progressive if they are willing to throw their vote away and work towards getting another Republican voted into the White House. Because that is exactly what you will be doing if you vote for a third party candidate.

Comment by bilbobaggins — February 9, 2008 @ 2:09 pm

And sometimes neither party has our best interests at heart.
I personally will vote for the Democrats this November, but how they act will determine if I ever vote for a Democrat again. I already won't vote Republican, so 3rd party or independent will end up being my choice.

If you are not sorely disappointed with the Democratic leadership since 2006, then you are just as blindly partisan as the Republicans.

<em>So Zooey, what are you going to do if Hillary is the candidate.
Are we going to start eating our own the way the Republicans are doing with McCain. That is not going to get us anywhere we want to go.
Comment by bilbobaggins — February 9, 2008 @ 10:30 am
We have not come to that bridge yet.
