Because that fat , lying , effeminate slob deserves to be “protected” ?

Why do you want to see traitors be saved ?

  8. GL2814 says:

If I was the president of the Univ of Iowa, I wouldn’t pay Karl Rove $40k to speak.

I would pay him $4.00, and then tell to him to F**K OFF!

  18. Marie says:

I wonder what is the criteria used by university officials when they invite speakers to the school.
Do they invite criminals and liars so the students can see that they look like ordinary people?
Do they invite criminals and liars so the students can learn something from undesirable characters?
Do they invite criminals and liars so the students can be propagandized?
Do they invite criminals and liars so the students can be reinforced with the idea that crime does pay?
Do they invite criminals and liars so the students can be used as the vehicle of payment to the state for past favors from Bush&Co?

  19. Marie says:

    what ARE the criteria? Sorry.

Why are universities throwing such big money on speakers and in this case Rove will be paid $40,000.00 to speak…that’s is an annual salary for an average American….!!
How many kids in school that money can help..?!!
this money will help 40 students at $1,000.00 each….

It is sad that schools instead of helping students ,they throw money away on speakers, by allowing this big loot to continue under the name of speaking.

Adjusted for inflation would be more, but Shrub took a dump on the economy with his idiotic war on “terrrrrr”.

  27. ArtZ says:

  29. Marie says:

Perspective called for here — $40K is an average annual salary for a person slogging through work day in and day out, struggling with health care costs, energy costs, and making the money last until next payday.
Creepy, lying, corrupt individuals like Rove put a stick in the eye of the average American when they demand and collect $40K for two hours work, transportation and dinner included – and all they have to do is repeat the lies that helped them rise in the worst administration in history.

  30. Marie says:

If my child was a student at U of Ia. and they were paying these sums to the likes of ethically challenged Karl Rove, while my child’s tuition rose another 10% this year, I would be demanding an explanation.

Let him speak to CPAC, the GOP Convention, the opening of the Bush library, etc. But don’t allow him to take monies from public institutions for his lies.

Displaying your ignorance of College Entertainment and Enrichment Boards, and the talent buyer/booking agent relationship.

There’s usually ONE person heading a small Committee who makes the call, not “The” University per se. They are given a budget, and are allowed to use it as they see fit.

Having been that person, I agree. That’s exactly how things are done. On the other hand, with someone as controversial as Rove, it’s unlikely that the administration wasn’t consulted, or at least advised.
