Bush honors Lincoln.

By Amanda Terkel on Feb 10th, 2008 at 7:49 pm

Bush honors Lincoln.

Tuesday, Feb. 12, marks the 199th anniversary of President Lincoln’s birthday. But President Bush is already commemorating the occasion, today speaking about the former president:

”It’s fitting that we honor Abe Lincoln,” Bush said in the ornate East Room of the White House. ”Of all the successors to George Washington, none had a bigger impact on the presidency and the country.”

In a recent interview with Fox News, Bush tried to “equate himself” with Lincoln. Karl Rove also compared Bush to Lincoln in his ability to “get to the nub of the thing.”

  3. flavorino says:

We used to laugh at “Bagdad Bob” in 2003. The media made a big joke about ridiculing that guy.
We now have our own American version in Bush, Rove and the rest of the delusional dead-enders who think they can “make their own reality”.
Unfortunately for them that reality only exists in their own heads .

    Bush:Lincoln::fiction:truth.

In a little side note, have you noticed that as Obama caught up with Hillary in actual elected delegates, that the corporate media (CNN and Faux) have decided to throw in some alleged pledged so-called super delegates into the pot, to try to keep Hillary on top. You also may be interested to read about how the Washington State Republicans stopped counted after 87% and then declared that Canal Zone McCain was the “winner.” It’s funny how Republicans have a thing about stopping counting votes. Well, it worked for them in Florida in 2000 and it may work for Canal Zone McCain in Washington State in 2008.

    Cheers.

  7. The Dogfather says:

Actually, I think there are some extra letters in that quote from KKKarl — shouldn’t it be that Bush has “the ability to get to nuthing”?

while we’re waiting for gg’s next prevarication, you might want to read the sen. inyoue’s official citation for his bravery and heroism. compare and contrast with george w. bush’s military record (if you can find it.)

    Citation:
Second Lieutenant Daniel K. Inouye distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 21 April 1945, in the vicinity of San Terenzo, Italy. While attacking a defended ridge guarding an important road junction, Second Lieutenant Inouye skillfully directed his platoon through a hail of automatic weapon and small arms fire, in a swift enveloping movement that resulted in the capture of an artillery and mortar post and brought his men to within 40 yards of the hostile force. Emplaced in bunkers and rock formations, the enemy halted the advance with crossfire from three machine guns. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Second Lieutenant Inouye crawled up the treacherous slope to within five yards of the nearest machine gun and hurled two grenades, destroying the emplacement. Before the enemy could retaliate, he stood up and neutralized a second machine gun nest. Although wounded by a sniper’s bullet, he continued to engage other hostile positions at close range until an exploding grenade shattered his right arm. Despite the intense pain, he refused evacuation and continued to direct his platoon until enemy resistance was broken and his men were again deployed in defensive positions. In the attack, 25 enemy soldiers were killed and eight others captured. By his gallant, aggressive tactics and by his indomitable leadership, Second Lieutenant Inouye enabled his platoon to advance through formidable resistance, and was instrumental in the capture of the ridge. Second Lieutenant Inouye’s extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.

  111. SP Biloxi says:

    “Bush honors Lincoln.”

Memo to the Clown President: Give it a rest.

Bush has worn out Lincoln’s name that it is getting nauseating. Too many dutchies that he has been smoking. Here is a fact of Lincoln:

    Quote:

“He failed in business in ‘31. He was defeated for state legislator in ‘32.He tried another business in ‘33. It failed. His fiancee died in ‘35. He had a nervous breakdown in ‘36. In ‘43 he ran for congress and was defeated. He tried again in ‘48 and was defeated again. He tried running for the Senate in ‘55. He lost. The next year he ran for Vice President and lost. In ‘59 he ran for the Senate again and was defeated. In 1860, the man who signed his name A. Lincoln, was elected the 16th President of the United States.

    And the Hot Air-in-Chief:

    He stole the 2000 election.

    He stole the 2004 election.

He will leave a 8 year legacy as the Worst President Ever.

    poor gg.

  120. joe cantwell says:

hey gg, here’s something about your friend “dick” cheney from “crooks and liars”

Cheney has been trying to hide from this case for a while now:

The office of Vice President Dick Cheney is seeking to block the release of videotaped depositions given by two aides who witnessed a physical encounter between an Iraq war opponent and Cheney.

In a motion filed Saturday, Cheney’s office contended that the videotapes could be used to invade the privacy and embarrass two aides called to testify about the encounter in a civil lawsuit.

The motion for a protective order expressed particular concern that both aides’ faces could wind up on YouTube.com. The plaintiff, Steven Howards of Golden, is suing Secret Service agents who arrested him after he approached Cheney at a Beaver Creek mall in 2006 and told the vice president his policies in Iraq were “disgusting.”

Eagle County prosecutors dismissed a criminal charge of harassment filed against Howards

  123. joe cantwell says:

one of the reasons i love tp is that it reminds me of my favorite rolling stones tune. a real classic called “think”

I’m givin’ you a piece of my mind.
There no charge of any kind.
    Try a very simple test.
You should just retrace your steps.
And think back, back a little bit baby.
    Back, back alright.
    Think, think, think back baby.
Think, think back a bit girl.
    Think, think, think back baby.
Tell me who’s fault was that, babe?
Tell me who’s fault was that, babe?
    Think about a year ago.
How we lived I’ll never know.
    Connin’ people for a dime.
Here’s another piece of my mind.
And think back, back a little bit baby.
    Back, back alright.
    Think, think, think back baby.
Think, think back a bit girl.
    Think, think, think back baby.
Tell me who’s fault was that, babe?
Tell me who’s fault was that, babe?
    Take a look inside yourself.
    You’re not really someone else.
Still, I am the same old me.
    You say I lack maturity.
But think back, back a little bit baby.
    Back, back, alright!
    We’re not children anymore.
We don’t need to play with toys.
Take a look and you will find
You’re gettin’ old before your time.
But think back, back a little bit baby.
    Back, back alright.
    Think, think, think back baby.
Think, think I said back a bit girl.
    Think, think, think back baby.
Tell me who’s fault was that, babe?
Tell me who’s fault was that, babe?
    I said think.
You’d better think back a little bit.
    I said think.
What about last year and the year before?
    I said think.
    You promised me so much.
    I said think.
    Doncha ‘member what you said?

Abe would say if he could, George W. Bush’s brain is fried by the drugs he’s taken for many years. Yes if you ever wondered why George has a problem with speaking or reading it’s the Mr. Weed that destroyed most of his brains.

Your stuidity never disappoints either. Bush doesn’t honor anyone; any time Bush speaks, it’s dishonoring the USA. Figures that a moron traitor like you would buy it, though.

  158. Lefty Patriot says:

looks like gg and bert are sharing the half of Bush’s brain that he shat out this morning.

  159. A Patriot Acting says:

A few more quotes that stand as a direct rebuttal to anyone foolish enough to compare our current buffon in chief to President Lincoln:

“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”

“The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons. Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This, our Convention understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.”

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crises. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”

“Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose—and you allow him to make war at pleasure.”

    all quotes by A. Lincoln

of course, Obama is not the one comparing himself to Lincoln, you buffoon. Your idiot-in-chief is the one stupid enough to expose his treason by pulling that stunt. Nice dodge, though, from a proven liar. You have no shame, or you’d never show up here again, having been caught in your lies repeatedly. Republicans have no morals, and gg proves it, again and again.
