‘Ignorant buffoons’ at the Defense Intelligence Agency.

A new book by AMERICAblog’s A.J. Rossmiller, who spent two years as a Defense Intelligence Agency Iraq analyst, paints a picture of the dysfunctional agency. CQ previews the book and some of the right-wing “ignorant buffoons and bullies” working for the Bush administration:

stillbroken4.jpg That would change when Rossmiller, a lowly GS-9, was eventually transferred to the Direct Action team, whose unofficial motto was “track ‘em and whack ‘em.” There he was an uncomfortable witness to U.S. soldiers screaming in English at Iraqis they’d rounded up. When they didn’t get satisfactory answers — there never seemed to be one — they dispatched their bewildered, hooded and quite possibly innocent captives to the soon-to-be infamous Abu Ghraib prison for interrogation.

More on the book here.

    “Conservatives hate big government!!!”

The cons have a good point. It’s not to their credit though, since they created the problem. It’s time to cut the department of knee-jerk offense’s budget by 25% and make sure the DIA is part of the cut. We can clean up the CIA and stick with that.

And while they’re at it, send the problem troops to cultural sensitivity and language training.

    Thank you very much.

The sick ugly unvarnished truth prevails about american torture of perhaps innocent iraqis. This picture gets worse by the minute.

The only hope for the american people to exonerate themselves from this moron in chief’s psychologically demented policies is to bring charges against him and bring him before a war crimes tribunal.

Since impeachment appears to be more than the democrats in congress can handle, and the only candidate to mention the concept of “summarily impeaching” a president who deserves it is Huckabee, I think it would behoove one of the two dems to jump on the impeachment bandwagon in order to win this things hands down.

Yes, and on top of the keystone cops routine going on on the ground, the higher ups are obviously worthless at connecting the dots. If they had a clue, we never would have gone into Iraq in the first place:

The Rand Corp. report characterizes “U.S. military intervention and occupation in the Muslim world” as “at best inadequate, at worst counter-productive, and, on the whole, infeasible.” The Pentagon asked the nonprofit research organization to review strategies to thwart insurgents.

    woo hoo! how ’bout that!

but, yikes, that could’ve been embarrassing…

my dig was specifically related to what i consider to be an unfair
reaction to the schuster bumbler… the selective outrage from hillary…
i sure hope he isn’t cowed by this intimidation…
we need all the real investigative journalists we’ve got!

and thank YOU, AJ Rossmiller, for your service and the resulting
decision to bring the truth to light.

(and for not beind offended by my comment)

Katy – I so agree with you about the selective outrage by Hilliary. She wants Chelsea to be out there “representing her” (pimping) but the press is not allowed to talk to her. That’s just a tad hypocritical and I think that’s what Shuster was saying.

But, this cloud could have a silver lining. I liked David Shuster OK as a talking head pundit, but I liked him better as a hard-hitting investigative reporter. Maybe this experience will send him back in the direction of reporting. We sure could use a few good reporters out there telling us what is really going on.

  20. xtro says:

    Please.

A blogger who was a “former” intelligence officer for the military?

They probably suggested he write this book to make it appear as if he’s severed all ties, which raises all kind of red flags.

  21. BearCountry says:

Since I don’t support either major dem candidate, I feel that I am in a position to see what the balance should be. With that in mind, I find that the attacks on HRC for resenting Shuster’s attack on Chelsea are appropriate. These MSM pundits do not make any references to the offspring of the other candidates. There was no snarkiness by the MSM over Mitty’s sons chauffering him around instead to marching off to actively support the occupation now or the war earlier. Instead the MSM accepted at face value that it was perfectly OK for them to do that.

The nasty comments about Hillary by Chris Matthews (who should have been suspended at the very least) which have continued over many years were aggresively defended by Shuster when Matthews was forced to apologize. After all, it is OK to say anything nasty about the Clintons and get a laugh. Therefore, it came as a shock that the “pimped” comment was not acceptable. And Shuster’s false apology included him saying that he said some nice things that he didn’t say.

Those of you that are self-styled liberals or progressives or Democrats who have attacked Hillary for a legitimate complaint are most likely Obama people and are willing to split the party in order to isolate HRC and then lose the ‘08 election to purify the party.
