Last week, the right-wing blog Powerline announced that it was naming Norman Podhoretz’s latest book, World War IV: The Long Struggle Against Islamofascism, as the “Powerline book of the year.” According to Powerline, Podhoretz’s book is a “passionate defense of the Bush Doctrine” that “dwarfs in scope and ambition just about all of the works published on current events in 2007.” Podhoretz will be honored in Manhattan tonight with a $25,000 donation in his name to Soldier’s Angels and a dinner featuring Henry Kissinger. Peter Beinart explains the severe flaws of Podhoretz’s book here.
It hasn’t been a long struggle. Just since the 40’s when Israeli Apartheid began~
February 11th, 2008 at 11:49 amWow!!! Sounds like a truly epic work… of fiction…
Unfortunately for Norman, Bush will be waiting for the “Illustrated Classics” edition…

no need Peter, this says it all:

lol, cons have such cute little buzzwords. i think their whole lives are built off of bumper stickers and cute little slogans… oh what a simple way to live.
February 11th, 2008 at 11:51 amWhy does the right wing resemble Monty Python more every day?
February 11th, 2008 at 11:53 amThat PETER BEINART article is fanatastic. It’s so easy to smack these Neocons.
February 11th, 2008 at 11:53 amIt’s amazing how these guys define “struggle” downwards.
Fighting the Nazis, that was a struggle.
Outlasting the Soviets without actually fighting, that was less of a struggle, but still one nonetheless.
Fending off a few throwbacks in caves with boxcutters? Come on.

Because Monty Python had a great handle on the idiocy inherent in narrow-view establishment organs.
February 11th, 2008 at 11:57 amScooter Libby qualifies as a warrior to these warped men.
Talk about projection…..If they acknowledge the abject failure of the Bush strategy these power fiends would have to jump off the nearest cliff.

February 11th, 2008 at 12:00 pmWhat’s truly pathetic about these folks is that, for all their sturm und drang, they’ve got the wrong stinkin’ country (twice)! And it could hardly be more obvious:

February 11th, 2008 at 12:10 pmpodwhoretz, a neoturd architect, is being treated like he founded America.
Look, the American Taliban just had their CPAC ‘blow each other moment’ and now need to cap it off with gifts & salutations.
Religious extremists aren’t all Muslims, my friends…they’ve been in power for nearly 8 years.

February 11th, 2008 at 12:14 pmJust last week Chertoff was spweing the line that we’re falling back into “pre 911 mindset”. And it’s really disturbing. I used to think that these people were just caught off gaurd and shell shocked by 911. But the Jew/Israeli hatreds have existed for generations. And it’s a shame that it has infected our wonderful country.
Your average American has had enough of Mideast meddlings. And if they knew more about how much our foreighn policy is controlled by Israeli it might very well change some things. So I hope they continue to give awards to radical killers like Podhoretz and Kristol~
February 11th, 2008 at 12:16 pmThe gilded (electrified) toilet seat would be my award for this neocon mofo.

Unfortunately, these bumper-sticker slogans are the type of message that resonates with many American voters who don’t have the attention span or the inclination to digest the reality of international politics.

February 11th, 2008 at 12:16 pmThe Powerline guys are a couple of buffoons. They have a pretend comments section where a few sycophants are allowed to post. They were praised in a leaked White House memo for repeating whatever message the White House told them to repeat.

I’m still pissed that one of the newest two word slogans was ripped off this blog…
‘Think Condi’
Now, if it was ‘think, Condi’, I’d support it.

February 11th, 2008 at 12:30 pmI don’t see any difference between Podhoretz and Hitler. Both of them support genocide.
gen·o·cide n. The systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group.
February 11th, 2008 at 12:36 pmIf Podwhoretz is calling the next war WWIV, does that mean that Bush started WWIII in Iraq?
February 11th, 2008 at 12:40 pmWhy isn’t that fat old creepy war criminal, Kissinger, rotting in a prison cell? The fact he hasn’t been struck by lightning is proof there is no God.

Because when Rapture, or End Times come, they want to be first in line to God’s soup kitchen.

Its said that only the good die young. The evil, apparently, hangs around feeding off peoples fears.
February 11th, 2008 at 12:56 pmThis man is a NAZI and he needs to stop published this garbage. Any idiot can write about trying to take over the world, but we can’t do it. People like this moron who crave power for the sake of power are dangerous and will only lead to a failed State. You can’t go around trying to bully other countries because it will eventually lead to others wanting to hit first. Just look at the history of countries who tried to rule the world. They are mostly weak or third rate countries now. e.g. Eyjpt, England, Italy, all failed and all are barely able to defend themselves.
February 11th, 2008 at 1:04 pmNazicons who are the real fascists are calling Islam fascists?
Do they even know the meaning of the word fascist? Obviously not.
They are Islamic radicals, or theocracy if you will.
Bush and the Nazicons are the fascist, cripes I just hate Bush new speak.
Buck Fush
February 11th, 2008 at 1:18 pmPutzhertz is just a guy who got bullied when he was a kid, and now he is projecting his anger towards his own personal boogeyman – Iran and Islam in general.
I imagine most right wing cry babies, you know, the ones who cower under their beds at night worried about getting their heads chopped off, had the same kind of childhood.
It’s a shame that some cowardly old man has such influence. But hey, the Israeli’s do run our foreign policy.
February 11th, 2008 at 1:26 pmHow about Podhoretz use his brain to figure out how to get out the messes we are in first?

Comment by Buckie Boy — February 11, 2008 @ 1:18 pm
Add this to a growing list of labels hurled as insults so often that fewer and fewer people know the literal meaning of the word.
When I was a kid, we were smack dab in the middle of the Cold War, and the word “Communist” was used as a label intended to damage the reputation of whomever it was flung at (or “Commie” or “Pinko” — you get the idea). The word soon because just a name to call anyone you didn’t like — the meaning of the word became irrelevant, and many people who used it couldn’t define it if their lives depended on it.
Then Reagan and his neocons took the word “liberal” and managed to give it the same treatment. It seemed to become a dirty word overnight, to the amazement of us liberals. It was generally used to describe your political opponent — whether he was really liberal or not.
“Fascism” has had negative connotations since the 1930’s, but it’s now making a comeback now that it can be conflated with Islam.
“Fundamentalist” is now used by many to describe those who commit acts of terror in the name of their religion, or those who condone such actions. It’s really silly, because the fundamentals of Islam (as well as the fundamentals of Christianity and Judaism) do not call for violence. “Crackpot extremism” would be a more accurate term to use for religious fanatics who feel compelled to blow things up and kill large numbers of people.
The list continues to grow, and people’s motivation to use a dictionary continues to shrink. What term will be next?
February 11th, 2008 at 1:54 pmIn his early yes, norman podhoretz was a caterpillar named Steve.
