Maryland poll hours extended.

Maryland poll hours extended.

Maryland voters have an extra 90 minutes to vote tonight, extending poll hours until 9:30 PM EST. A judge ordered that the polls be kept open after officials argued that voters were delayed because of bad weather. Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has won the Virginia and DC Democratic primaries.

UPDATE: Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has been projected the winner in Virginia.

UPDATE II: McCain and Obama have also been declared the winners in the Maryland primaries. McCain has won the DC primary.

And because most of the GOP voters couldn’t bear the thought of tearing themselves away from public men’s rest rooms until after 8PM…….

Merlin, debadass… Kilo just “felt it move” for the first time in years, and he can’t afford to, ahem, “let the moment pass”.

He’ll be back when he’s finished, which in his case, will probably be, oh, 15, 20 seconds, tops.

  8. Doc Rock says:

Streets are slick and nasty here in Maryland–folks out voting in this are more heroic than Bush in his flight suit and less self-serving!

Mine too and let’s hope the super delegates vote the will of the people. After all we have been through in the past decade and watching the enthusiasm of the new young voters, if one candidate became the nominee from back room deals and not the will of the people., all hell is going to break loose. I will quit the dems and join the greens.

I voted early, and often. ;) Obama was my choice, I think this country can do without anymore bush’s or clintons for a while, IMHO.

Barack Obama likes to talk about change, but prefers not to get specific about what sort of change he has in mind. The controversy over Obama’s volunteer campaign office in Houston, which sported a Cuban flag bearing an image of Che Guevara, should be viewed in that context.
Obama said the Cuban flag with Che on it was “inappropriate,” a criticism slightly more muted than the one he leveled against politicians who wear the American flag on their lapels (”hypocrites”). The Obama campaign emphasizes that this was a volunteer, unofficial office, and that Obama didn’t endorse using the image of a mass-murdering terrorist (my words, of course, not theirs) in his campaign.
The incident is significant, however, in that it reveals what sort of change at least some of Obama’s supporters think he has in mind. Are they wrong? Maybe, but what has Obama said or done to disabuse them of the idea that he is a Che-admiring leftist?
Then again, maybe these far-left Obama supporters are “confused” because they’ve been following his votes in the Senate. Obama was one of only 29 Senators who voted to filibuster the provision of the FISA reform bill that extended immunity to telecommunications companies that cooperate with law enforcement and intelligence authorities in identifying international terrorist communications. As Jennifer Rubin points out, this put Obama to the left of liberal stalwarts like Barbara Mikulski. This vote was significant because, just as terrorist supporters try to intimidate citizens by suing “John Does” who report suspicious activities, the terrorists’ allies, absent immunity, would have tried to disable intelligence programs by harassing telecom companies with lawsuits.
So, while I assume that Obama’s “change” doesn’t involve actually emulating mass-murdering terrorists like Che Guevara, it’s reasonable to infer that it won’t involve doing much to catch them, either.
