97% of ambassadors polled say Bolton undermined UN reform.

At Princeton yesterday, New York Times U.N. correspondent Warren Hoge revealed that “of the 33 ambassadors Hoge interviewed for a story” on former U.N. ambassador John Bolton’s performance, “all but one felt he had undermined U.N. reform efforts.” When Bush appointed Bolton in 2005, U.N. members viewed the move as a “stick in the eye.”

Stick in the eye pretty much describes what BusitCo’s main MO is.

  4. RUCerious says:

Or, BushitCo, so to speak, if you will.

  5. A Patriot Acting says:

Oh well, no more moustache rides for Warren Hoge!

  6. Cats r Flyfishn says:

Bolten may be a “stick in the eye”, he also makes me want to vomit, do a Bushahuru on his lap.

  7. The Republic of Stupidity says:

That one’s gonna show tomorrow morning.

  8. Buckie Boy says:

He was a stick in the eye to the entire decent thinking people the world over. Just another lying, hate monger, crony of the war criminal Bush administration.

Why does this vile walrus get any air time at all? Oh, that’s right it’s that “Liberal Media” (what a joke that is) that puts him front and center so Bush can still push his desire for war with Iran.

  9. Ms_Joanne says:

And this surprises exactly whom? Bolton was always very anti-UN. That he was made ambassador was Bush’s way of giving the UN the finger. UN acts as a watchdog of sorts…does Bush (Cheney??) ever want that?

Nope, no surprise here at all.

  10. RUCerious says:

I wonder if we took off the top two stories of Bolt-on’s head if he’d even notice.

  11. robbez_92107 says:

Well, if your idea of UN reform is constant war, then he did a heckuva job, Boltie, heckuva job.

  12. RUCerious says:

    Here comes Bolt-On!
Somebody go back and get a shitload of sticks!

  13. rantingraver says:

Why appease the UN when you’re already violating the Geneva Conventions (torture), illegally invade countires without the consent of the UN, allowing your corporations to rape foreign lands with absolutely no regulation, and refusing to abide by the rules of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty? Once you’ve done that, you’ve pretty much given the middle finger to the rest of world, haven’t you… I mean, haven’t we? I am not so proud of this, what about you?

  14. toasterhead says:

Is the “stick in the eye” a reference to the great big plank that’s in the eye of the U.S. government, and far more badly in need of reform?

  15. dbadass says:

Sure, but what’s the margin of error within these data?

  16. celtic cynic says:

    That settles it.
George W. Bush will be bestowing a super-duper, atta-boy medal on him any day now.

    Bolton IS the error.

  18. Gatsby says:

Well, duh! Bolton is obviously unhinged and has been for a long time. That explains why the thing in the WH — a bit off its own hinges itself — and his demented Neo-con crowd thought that Bolton would make a fine UN ambassador. That was just part of their “flip-the-bird-to-everybody-who-disagrees-with-us” policy.

Seriously, the inmates took over the asylum in 2000. Then, however, we just did not know how psychologically unfit these people were.

    ————————-

It was a stick in the eye…a well deserved stick in the eye.

The UN is nothing more than a house of thugs, dictators and crooks. It’s peace-keeping forces are impotent and it’s human-rights commision is a joke.

    Bolton was right.

and now he’s just another out of work neo-con.

…all but one felt …a “stick in the eye.”

OW! And I thought it was bad enough when Bolton just hit people in the head with staplers.

    southern man again?

i want to quit hanging around here like it’s a 7-11 parking lot and go out and find a job. i’m tired of paying the way for trolls like you, stop living off the dole!

  24. shoeless says:

    …it’s human-rights commision is a joke.

    Comment by Charles James Napier

Yeah, one year they even let John Bolton join.

You’ve got the machine right there behind the counter. Why don’t you just pour it yourself?

Owning your business has it’s perks Joe. I think i’ll send someone out for a slushy.

    Comment by Southern Man — February 13, 2008 @ 4:11 pm

fetching a check from the mail box once a week is not owning your own business, southie.

    work not perk.

  27. mary says:

It must be tough to be a troll sometimes.

They seem to feel that the U.N. is in need of reform and yet when the neocon Bolton gets sent in to shake things up and fails (see poll above where all respondents except one agreed that Bolton UNDERMINED U.N. reform efforts) they still have to find a way to defend him.

  28. fletc3her says:

I don’t like this headline. I’d rather it said “32 of 33 ambassadors polled say Bolton undermined UN reform”. I believe using the percentage gives a false impression of a larger sample size.

However, I certainly agree with 32 of the 33 ambassadors. Bolton was a terrible choice as our representative in the United Nations. Both he and his mustache should be relegated to the dustbin of history.

  29. Lefty Patriot says:

I decided to stay and help the city I love. I have helped thousands rebuild their lives, one day at a time. In the last two years I have done more work and helped more people than I ever believed I could. And collecting cans are what a few people down here have to do to get bye, Matt. Making fun of everybody is what you are great at. You find a way to insult everyone Matt. Just not the intended target.

    Comment by Southern Man — February 13, 2008 @ 4:37 pm

You “decided” to stay, as if y8ou had a choice. And those “worthless” levees only lasted 100 years. How awful. if the republican thieves and mass-murderers you support had done the jobs they were elected to do, your city would sgtill be in one piece, thriving rather than just surviving. You’re a bigger fool than anyone would have guessed. Enjoy your slurpy, it’s exactly what you deserve.
